Rather a depressing song. About the dying wishes of a comrade as he lays in the steppe.

This is the very recognizable voice of the legendary Evgeny Belyaev, one of the greatest lyric tenors of the 20th century and the Alexandrov Ensemble's brightest star. I think, judging by the sound of it, that the recording dates to the 1970s. There are many Belyaev videos on RUclips, His name in Russian is Евгений Беляев

    Wilderness around,
    Long way lay ahead.
    In this big wild steppe
    Postilion's going dead.
    Gathering all strength,
    Feeling bitter end,
    He told to a lad,
    To his best comrade:
    You, my old friend,
    Please forget all bad -
    In this big wild steppe
    Bury body dead.
    Bring my horse to dad,
    Thanks for doing that!
    Tell my mommy please
    I'm sending her a kiss.
    Tell my pretty wife
    My last words in life.
    Could you also bring
    Golden marriage ring?
    Tell my wife: "Don't cry!"
    Bring these word of mine:
    "Crown with good men
    Till your life is end."
    Tell: "He's frozen dead
    In this big wild steppe
    And he brought your love
    To the world above."

" It's very sad, about a driver dying and telling his friend to bury him in the steppe, and telling his friend to tell her wife not to be sad about him and that she can marry again, but not to forget about his love for her frozen in the steppe , It's poetic so it's hard to translate "

    English Lyrics:
    In the Central Steppes,
    A long road lay ahead.
    In those Central Steppes,
A coachman was freezing to death.
    He gathered his strength,
    Muttering all he can,
    He grabbed his friend,
He pleaded him to follow his mandate:
    You, my friend!
    Don’t worry and keep calm.
    In these Central Steppes,
    Bury my dead body.
    Bring these horses,
    To my loving father
    Send my mother
    A bow and a kiss
    Tell my pretty wife
    My last words,
    Bring her
    This golden engagement ring.
    Tell her to not cry
    Don’t grieve,
    Marry and crown
    With good men
Until your life is at halt.
    Tell her,
    Your beloved has frozen
    In the Central Steppes
And that I will love her
    Even in the heavens above

    My mother said to me
"Son, it's not how many Germans you kill that counts
It's how many people you set free"
So I packed my bags, brushed my cap
    Walked out into the world
    Seventeen years old
    Never kissed a girl
    Took the train to Voronezh
That was as far as it would go
Changed my sacks for a uniform
Bit my lip against the snow
    I prayed for mother Russia
    In the summer of '43
And as we drove the Germans back

      actual lyrics:
      Wilderness around,
      Long way lay ahead.
      In this big wild steppe
      Postilion's going dead.
      Gathering all strength,
      Feeling bitter end,
      He told to a lad,
      To his best comrade:
      You, my old friend,
      Please forget all bad -
      In this big wild steppe
      Bury body dead.
      Bring my horse to dad,
      Thanks for doing that!
      Tell my mommy please
      I'm sending her a kiss.
      Tell my pretty wife
      My last words in life.
      Could you also bring
      Golden marriage ring?
      Tell my wife: "Don't cry!"
      Bring these word of mine:
      "Crown with good men
      Till your life is end."
      Tell: "He's frozen dead
      In this big wild steppe
      And he brought your love
      To the world above."

    part3
Train went north to the Taiga
We were stripped and marched in file
    Up the great Siberian road
For miles and miles and miles and miles
    Dressed in stripes and tatters
In a gulag left to die
All because Comrade Stalin was scared that
    We'd become too westernized
    Used to love my country
    Used to be so young
Used to believe that life was
    The best song ever sung
I would have died for my country
    In 1945
But now only one thing remains
    bis
    The brute will to survive

look for the lyrics. in reality, this is an anti-stalinist song about ww2 soviet soldiers that were sent to the gulags, by stalin, because he thought they had become "westernized".
