    That's actually pretty helpful.

Went from doing dead gangs and kettlebell snatches to dead hangs and pullups cuz I'm sick of ripping off calluses lol. That active hang would have been a good middle step between dead hangs and pullups

    Hi Dr. Chris,
3.5 years ago, I ruptured my right proximal long head bicep tendon, aka The Popeye Deformity. Apparently there is still nerve impingement, so despite PT, it's still too painful to do much with it (even just carrying 10lbs leaves me hurting for a couple of days).
I saw a new PT a couple of weeks ago, and she gave me new exercises. I have hEDS, so she focused on muscle strengthening, not stretching. However, I'm finding it even more painful (not uncomfortable, truly PAINFUL) the next day or two after the exercises. Since I'm new to doing them (just about 2 weeks), should I push through it? The muscles are very weak right now and I need to be working my neck and core especially. I'll cop to it - my core muscles are HELLA weak and so are my neck and really, most muscles. I've been way too sedentary. When it hurt, I gave up too many times to count.
I know you can't give medical advice without seeing me, but if a patient came to you with this condition - or if it were you - what would you recommend? I'd like to tough it out, because I know I need the supporting muscles around my neck and shoulder (and remaining biceps muscle) to be as strong as possible, but at the same time, I don't want to further damage myself. It's disconcerting to me that after over 3.5 years, I still have some of the ruptured-tendon biceps muscle remaining, and I was told that would cause at least some of the pain. My body doesn't seem to be in a hurry to re-absorb it! So, you know, if it were you ... or if there's someone in the comments with a similar injury who has suggestions, I'm all ears! TIA

When doing the basic dead hang do we retract our shoulders or just let everything hang? I want to use this for shoulder health first and foremost along with spinal decompression.
