Thank you very much for sharing this information! The ONLY thing I would ask for in the future, is to work a little slower so that we old people can keep up without having to pause and rewind so frequently in order to follow your great instructions.
Does this work if you dont have a server? My laptop and printer share the same wifi, i thought that would be sufficient to enable successful destination folder configure ?
I needed to establish an smb from the printer directly to a nas - the "\" after the folder path is what I've been missing for months - Finally!!! Thanks
Great tutorial, very easy to learn, but one importance thing you should add to your clip is make sure SMB 1.0 is enabled in windows 10. : Turn Windows Features on or off and make sure SMB 1.0 is checked , ok and restart.
Caveat: once you enable SMB 1.0 in Windows 10, if you don't use the scan to folder facility for a couple of weeks, Windows will disable it again. After you then re-enable it, Windows will leave it alone, and you can forget about it. Ideally, you should update your scanner firmware to support more secure version of SMB and disable ver1.0.
Hi Neel, a question. Is it possible to scan directly to OneDrive from my Canon MFP printer without the need to create a "Local User"? Reason being, I've got multiple users per computer AND multiple computers which are all connected to a single cloud system / OneDrive, would it be possible to still scan/share? Thanks.
i guess you can do this but it you have windows server then create a shared drive created a dedicated folder for each user and add them to canon. Map each folder using group policy so when a user logs in to any computer group policy will push to those shared location to the user.
I tried to set up scanning from my Canon IR 3230 to my Dell laptop which is running Windows 10 Pro. I believe I did everything you instructed but the scans don't go through. The Canon says sending, then it says resending, then it says cannot find server and prints out a sheet that just says error and the name of the folder. Any ideas?
same here. One year ago I've launched 4 computers in office, since then two of them either changed or changed their users/passwords. Old ones still work, but I cannot launch new ones. I think I've done everything like in your video. I've got another rig- my personal loptop. It is connected with another scanner in another office, it works fine. I brought it to this office to test (maybe it's antivirus, firewall or etc problem), but I can't launch here. By the way, it was connected to this office once, but connection was lost because of uknown reasons (I did not change neither username nor password of this loptop). Another situation: one of old computers have changed their user, but I connected it with that scanner accordingly. However, it lost connection few weeks after that. Everything happens like in Damon Chases comment: it says resending (or no response), and print out a paper with errors.
Sir, I have ir3245 copier and it is shared on network. I want to scan to my computer folder. When I try to scan it gives an error massage "CHECK THE SERVER" or "RESENDING" and it prints automatically failure report. Please Sir, help me and solve this problem. Thanks.
In order to use the scan feature on a ir3235 you need to make sure the copier has the scan license. Click the counter button and you'll see something that says device settings options.
Hello everyone, I configure everything same as you(smb) on video but when i set this configuration i cannot see my user set name on printer .The settings doesn't work.I also share the folder in lan and made permissions for user and create scan account.I gave printer full share in advance share options in Windows. I want update firmware but i had message that the printer is disconnected but it's false. Please help me with this topic. I didn't know to resolve this.I configure printer in company. This scan to smb feature is important for me. Please help.
I cold not find the correct way to set this up anywhere, and it did not help that I had three older Canon printers that are setup different. Thank you!
you can run advanced ip scanner to find out your printers IP or you can simply look it up on settings on the printer.. some where under network settings.
@@shc9596 can you make sure firewall is disabled and your antivirus software is off as well. Sounds like one of those is blocking communication to the machine.
First of all you need to open the computer management. In order to do that you must know witch Windows you are using and the version. (Like windows 10 home , Windows 10 pro, etc.) I believe Window "Home" version for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10. Will not allow you to access all the user info. But all the bigger Windows programs will. Like Windows "Pro" for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10. In order to find out what version you are using right mouse click "Computer or This PC and open up properties. And find out that info. The original folder name from Windows XP was "My Computer" found in the start menu. In Windows Vista, and Windows 7 It is called "computer". In Windows 10 you will not find it directly in the start menu. And programs are now call apps. In Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 So the most easy way to find it is to use the search bar next to the start menu. Typing in "This PC". Once it shows up right mouse click. select Manage. Another way to find it is by opening up File Explorer in the window on the left you'll find "This PC". right mouse click and select Manage. After the Computer Management opens up. In Computer Management you must find "Local Users and Groups", You find it in the left window. From there you'll select "users" once you have done that. Follow the RUclips video above your screen. The video will tell you the rest. And I did find another video that explains the setting for some of the Canon printers and scanners in the RUclips search bar find, Maxify MB5300 MB5000 MB2300 MB2000 series software - Quick Toolbox Functions (This is second video, I have found that it's works.) For some canon owners you must follow both videos in order to get the problem fixed. Also it asked for some canons ask for a domain/user name. It will be the user name you just created. and the same password. And some require a pin number. If your dose require the pin set it up. You won't be able to scan without, if it required setup the pin code. If it doesn't require the pin code, then don't worry about it.
Hello again I just confirmed. On the Windows operating system you must have windows "Pro" for the following windows systems Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10. In order to access "Local Users and Groups" in "Computer Management." So you will need to upgrade to the higher version of the Windows you are using. In order to use "Local Users and Groups." If you are using the home version of Windows. You will not be able to access "Local Users and Groups" till you upgrade.

hi thank you for the video , what is the path name need to be used in printer , if we using a folder in c drive . is simply scan\ or c:scan\
it will be: c:\scan\
It didn't worked for me. Some error occurred while scanning. I don't know why:(
Is there anything to setup in Windows Defender, because for me, it doesn't work :(
No but it you have any anti virus installed disable it for few mins and test it. Usually that caused the port blocks.

isn't more easy just to scan to your computer? (and in your utility scan tool make a path for your scans)
