Discussing $30m is a slap in her face. Fever home games gate was somewhere between $60 and $80m from about $5m the previous year.

Juat to understand the math for the “home gate”… how much do you think the average seat cost for a home game? 20 home dates, 17,000 people at each game. I don’t think the average is $200 per person (even food & bev spend). I sat on the floor, mid-court, for $500 re-sale for a game.l

If the WNBA does not fine the Aces for the 100k per player checks from the Las Vegas Tourism Board. The Indiapolis Tourism Board needs to start writing checks. No WNBA city earned more money off their team than Indiapolis. At some point Indiapolis will come up with the figure. Iowa City came up with that figure. I think Iowa WCBB was a $80M impact on Iowa City last basketball season.

Not to mention how much money the fans contributed to motels, businesses and restaurants in each city to watch the Fever games.

There are similar states for Iowa when CC was in the last two years of her college...it was impressive. Someone has actually calculated CC's financial effect on Iowa, the state, not the city. That's impressive. With the Olympics it could have increased the US GDP. LOL

Mick, why do you fixate on CC's $75K salary? CC enjoys playing basketball. An F1 driver once somewhat famously said (paraphrased) "I don't get paid to drive the car (meaning he enjoyed it so much he would do it for free), I get paid for all the sponsorship events". The WNBA is a vehicle for CC and as she often says, play BB the right way and everything else comes from that. When CC is 30+ years old, I doubt she is gonna regret joining the WNBA because of the salary level. CC is playing the long game.

Engelbert is useless. She is so unqualified for this job and not at all up to addressing the league's issues. It's time for a big upgrade, but Adam Silver seems like a bit of a twit who has been lucky to be put at the head of an already successful enterprise.

Rookie pay is rookie pay, Mick. They can't pay Caitlin differently. Up to this past season, it has been an obscure, losing league, with the pay reflecting that. The money for players will improve going forward, as long as CC stays on the court and prospers for years to come. Caitlin is getting rich from endorsement deals and she will be getting much richer if she has a long and successful career.

  • @gmel4967

Shouldn't be a guessing game, to know CC generated 30 mill means they've done the analytics and figuring out what each player generated should be a simple matter of math. I'm guessing the league doesn't wanna divulge BC the figures don't fit the preferred narrative. Can't make the "chosen ones" look bad.

  • @shinyoukidable

    What a stupid caption!!!
How did Caitlin generate $30m to WNBA?
Is Caitlin Clark the ONLY Rookie putting butts on the seat in Chicago, Liberty, Vegas, Sparks, Lynx and other teams?
All these teams recorded SOLD OUT games when not playing against Fever.
So, pls stop the delusion guys.
WNBA finals and playoffs recorded highest rating even without Caitlin Fever playing any of the teams.

    • @aden538
      @aden538 9 часов назад +1

That is just blatantly untrue. You can look at attendance numbers and see Fever games versus everyone else. It's true that attendance and viewership spiked this year across the board, but it was overwhelmingly in favor of the Fever. This is the "Clark Effect" where people are drawn in by her and then continue to watch other teams. Yes, the finals was the most-watched WNBA finals, but guess where all those new fans came from?
The numbers back it up, so either you're the one who doesn't understand or you're just bitter and disingenuous.
