I've just gone to replace our expansion bottle as the garage told me it's causing my coolant to leak and theres no sensor in mine the bit is there to attatch it and the hole where it goes up but no sensor to be seen should i be worried at all?
My fan comes on as soon as I turn on my engine, also the EML light is on as a result. Could this be a faulty temp sensor? The car is using normal coolant and not running hot. But I noticed it’s using slightly more fuel aswell as.
@@S55M3 yes the garage could see that I had a crack in my thermostat housing and would only show when engine running hot. £138 for new replacement and now the car runs great. Touch wood 🪵 😃

I have been trying to test the sensor to try and find out how it actually works so i can get a better understanding of the system, I am an auto sparky and have a 2002 TS Astra, my level sensor warning comes on and I have changed the sensor today. Someone below in another comment said that there might be a metal float inside the bottle that goes around the sensor hole, if this is the case the float might be stuck or something, I will investigate further. Have you found your issue?
I have same problem. Did you solved it? I changed sensor, changed cooler fluid, cleaned the fluid tank, repaired small leak of fluid... But the coolant level warning is still being thrown at me.
@@electricwhirl5175 Hi, changing coolant tank helped in the end. It was probably too messy inside and floater was getting stuck or something like that.
@@JohnhadebeMthimkhulu-cl5gc It might. If it is because dirty tank, you may first try to dismantle it and clean it with and some cleaning chemical from inside. But in my case it did not helped in the end.

I take it there is no coolant in the tank if sensor missing?
You would need to buy a sensor fit the sensor and fill the coolant to correct level and see if this resolves the issue

I'd say engine temperature sensor..the sensor in this video is to monitor coolant levels

Have you found your issue?
That person confirmed that there is a float in the bottle, you might want to check out ebay and get an after market overflow tank and try that next.
I just put a magnet on the end of my sensor and the coolant level code went off after ignition reset suggesting that there is a bottle float fault.

Where did you get the sensor? Is it the temperature sensor?
This is the coolant level sensor and bought from ebay... I also have a video changing the coolant temperature sensor

just got new bottle and sensor should water come out of hole when pull sensor out
Not if you turn the reservoir tank so water is at the top as shown in video fella

Sensor is sensing a metal that float and when eater is low it reaches the sensor and alarm the car sistem... So sensor holl is not an actual holl...
I have two cabel conector at water bottle... What can it be?
