    I took a shelf of that tall CD tower storage where you have the punches to the IKEA "As Is" section asked the clerk if he had extra shelves and he brought a few out in brown. He sold them to me for 10 cents. I got white contact paper and covered them. If IKEA still has a piece of furniture in stock sometimes they will have extra parts for it in the "As Is" section. If the clerk is no help come back another time until you get the worker that is always there he knows what he has.

    Wow! 1. You have ALOT of punches LOL. 2. What a labor of love and organization ! I have been using a similar system - inspired by a refusal not to reuse 3.5 floppy disks (haha)…they became the covers….the challenge is that the size is a bit small. It has been 10 years, so I think a redo is in order. I really like the size, double system for shapes and the use of color. Me thinks you are an organizational goddess. Off to see if you have vids on what I think I spied as ScrapRacks in your room……. Have an awesome day!😊

    My girl! I thought I had a lot but you have a small fortune in punches!!! I was absolutely drooling! I really love punches because they are so convenient. We all have a die cutting machine and a Cricut and love them but there’s something so easy and nice about just picking up a punch to create a shape without having to do any other steps. Thanks for sharing your stash, it’s so inspiring!

      yw Michele ... i hope that it works out for you. I would love to use that size reference guide for my dies but I have dies that are much larger than my punch book. I think that would be really awesome to use for smaller dies. I'm still trying to figure out how to do a reference guide for stamps & dies that would be easy to do.

    Great video !!! I've always punched out my punch's & put them in an 8 1/2 x 11 book. I used different colors for type of punch's. And it worked well, then needed another binder & couldn't fit them all into one category per page... & was rearranging them ( I'd run paper thru with repositionable xyron adhesive ). I love your idea of punching out the shapes & putting plastic on back !!! Your idea is better than mine !!! Liked your idea for categories also. Really enjoyed it a lot.

    • @YesPleasePapercrafts
      @YesPleasePapercrafts  3 года назад

      Thanks Debbie. I also thought about using a color for each type of punch but then I quickly figured out that I didn't have enough cardstock in each color so I gave up that idea pretty quickly. I did also start out using a 6x8 binder and only did a few pages gluing things into it and trying to figure out how to fit things onto each page before I decided it wasn't going to work. I do like your idea of running your paper through the Xyron with removeable adhesive. I also had another idea to use a magnetic photo album where you can lift the plastic off the page and the stick things down but when I lifted the plastic, things would fall out and those albums are super heavy and bulky. I watched a lot of videos on RUclips on how other people store and organize punches before I came up with mine. I think sometimes you just need to try a few things before you figure out what works for you. Hope that you figure out the right solution for what works for you. 🤗

    I use a similar reference for my punches and I labelled all of them with my label maker and where they were located so I could return them to the right place.

    • @YesPleasePapercrafts
      @YesPleasePapercrafts  3 года назад

      I did think about putting labels on each punch but I ended up just getting some 1/4" circle removeable labels in different colors for a few dollars on Amazon and just putting one of those colored labels on each punch. I thought that would be easier to do and also the labels can be removed if I change my mind about where each punch is stored. 🤗

    Love your organization videos/ideas! Always enjoy seeing your beautiful room! On that dvd shelf you mentioned you’d like extra shelves, you can take a shelf to Home Depot/Lowe’s and they will cut up a melamine shelf for you to the size you need and then you can also buy extra shelf clips.... (I’ve done that for my Billy bookcase). Tfs💕 Hi Bella and LB! Yep...they only work for food! 😂😂🐶🐶

    • @YesPleasePapercrafts
      @YesPleasePapercrafts  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for sharing! Great idea!! The shelving on the Gnedby is much thinner than the Billy bookcase and the shelf clips are tiny compared to the Billy but maybe I'll look to see if they have anything similar at Home Depot. lol ... yep, I usually can only get them to do things if there's food involved and I can bribe them with treats 😋

    Love the organization and your catalog. For ensuring where to put things back, maybe you an use small colored dot sticker to put on the category in your catalog and on the actual punch and color-code (or use shapes) to give it a location. Very helpful video!

I really hate it when you get stickers stuck on things and it won't come off!!! I searched on Amazon and found some 1/4" circles removeable stickers in 4 colors and I also found some 1/2" circles in white that are removeable that I could color with markers. The 1/4" circles were on sale for only $1.88 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004INFQMM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Its May 2022, you posted this in 2021 and you were still working on your punch catalog so I hope you got it completed. Thanks for all the great ideas for the catalog I didn't think I needed a catalog for my punches but when I seen how you used the punched out area to see if a phrase would fit BINGO I knew I needed it. My space is 6 ft by 8 ft so organization is a must. Most of my punches are on those old over the door punch holders plus an over the door shoe rack.

    I have no ikea products in my craft/home. I like your idea of using the book bin for the creative memories punches. I might have to think about that. I'm always looking for ways to store my punches. Would be nice if cm came out with something besides the travel cases.

    • @YesPleasePapercrafts

      I love Ikea and the Container store for craft room organization and I got quite spoiled when I lived in Texas because we had both really close to where I lived. Now that I'm in Louisiana, we don't have Ikea or the Container store but I've ordered lots of storage and organization items from their websites and the shipping is very reasonable. I miss being able to go in Ikea and shop ... that's such a fun store!
      I would love from CM to come out with more storage options too and it would be nice if their storage was white or more neutral colors. I like to keep the storage in my craft room either clear, white or teal and having black and bright blue items just doesn't fit into my decor.

    Oh my goodness! TaHANK YOU! You are the punch Queen! Do you also have dies and are you thinking of doing them the same way? As an aside, I think I saw some ScrapRacks in there…..how do you like them? I have been thinking about getting one for a few years now. Your space is awesome!

    • @YesPleasePapercrafts
      @YesPleasePapercrafts  2 года назад +1

      lol ... the punch Queen!!! ... I do love punches!!! Yes, I have dies as well and I have them stored in clear pockets and then grouped into categories. I followed the same organization that Jennifer McGuire uses for her stamps and dies. I have to admit, my stamps and dies are a bit of a mess right now and I have to hunt when I want to find something. I've been thinking about what I would like to do to organize them a bit more but so far I have not found a solution that I like enough to reorganize them. So, my dies are a bit of a mess right now.
      I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with my ScrapRack. I didn't like the angle of the scraprack and it's not adjustable so the pages would sag a bit and it was a little hard to flip through. I ended up building a base for it to sit on from some scrap plywood and trim molding and then added 2x4's on the back to create the angle ...after I did that, it was so much better and easier to flip through.
      The pros is that it's absolutely fantastic for organizing into themes, seasons, categories and then being able to easily flip right to what you need. I can find my 4th of July paper and embellishments in about 15 seconds. So, that's the best part of the scraprack is once you have it set up, you can very easily locate anything that is in it.
      The cons are that it's super expensive ... once you buy the scraprack (which is pricey), you will need to spend a lot of money buying pages. You can use heavy 12x12 page protectors from Scrapbook.com or WRMK which does help some with the expense but the Totally Tiffany pocket pages cost quite a bit.
      Another problem is that unless you are just starting out and you don't have a lot of supplies, you are probably not going to get everything you have in your scraprack and it would be very expensive to do that.
      Then, the biggest con for me is that it's really hard to get the spinders (which are attached with velcro) off the base and you cannot add or remove pages without taking the spinders off the base. So, the worst thing for me is that I tend not to add pages to the scraprack because it's so hard to get the spinders on and off and that really makes it less useful.
      With all that said, the Scraprack can be a really awesome organizational tool and is really awesome for organizing things where you have small amounts which for me is scrapbooking paper and supplies by themes (birthday, pets, patriotic, baby, school, etc.) but it has it's drawbacks. Hope this helps! Karen

    • @YesPleasePapercrafts
      @YesPleasePapercrafts  2 года назад

      Thanks Katie! I use an inexpensive cardstock from SamsClub for all my organization projects. It's called the "Neenah Exact Index Cardstock, 8.5" x 11", 110 lb/199 gsm, White, 275 Sheets". You could possible use plastic but that would be more expensive. I did back some of the pages with the shape punches (circles, squares, etc.) with clear acetate. I wanted to protect those pages and also be able to see thru the shape and use that as a guide to see if a punch would work before punching the paper. Hope this helps.

    What size did you make your reference books? Great ideas and well thought out.

    • @YesPleasePapercrafts
      @YesPleasePapercrafts  3 года назад +1

      Hi Deb ... Thanks so much ... The size of my reference books are 3 5/8" x 5 1/2". My reason for choosing this specific size is that it fit all of my punches and I used cardstock that was left over from another organization project when I created some inserts for the CD sleeves that I use to store my ephemera. The CD sleeve inserts are 4 7/8"x4 7/8" and I can get 2 inserts from one 8.5x11" piece of cardstock. The leftover piece of cardstock is 3 5/8" x 11" and so I just cut those in half to make up the 3 5/8" x 5 1/2" pages in my punch reference guides. Hope this information helps. Karen
