Humans have a desire, a need, to know and understand. Sometimes that desire turns into obsession. That can lead to great discoveries and success. It can also lead to disaster. We walk a razors edge with research of some things. But if we didn't walk that edge, how often would we find great discoveries? Perhaps not often, and maybe some things we would discover could lead to our demise. Interesting story. Well done.

    This is what I saw.
A neuroscientist tries to find out how the brain link and work, but struggle to get funds.
But the progress isn't good enough, and they need a good result to continue.
So they crank the machine up and get a result, but the radiation is too strong, killing the mice afterward and burning the teacher's hand.
The machine work but the radiation is too intense, like an x-ray but too strong
So the student wants to stop the test and back out.
However, the teacher can't wait because she is dying and the fund won't last forever.
So she scans her brain prove the machine can work, but I believe she'll die because of that.
The teacher walked into the wood knowing her life means something and her work will benefit the world, so she smiles with the radiation burn on her face.
The machine proves it's worth, and her student can use the result to get fund and kept working on her legacy.

The pressure of getting good results, getting funds, and winning other competitors is intense in science.
So ethic and safety vs progress, company funding vs public interests, company funding vs truth
will away be a continuing tug war.

Good writing while also some dramatic acting talent that's able to convey meaning in this story better than usual. The experiments of "Nectome" in Silicon Valley are somewhat in line with this science fiction scenario. Those are terminal patients, and the level of the scans upload the brain activity in real time immediately after pronounced dead, and it is a process uploading cyber-space data stream of the ionic molecular processes in computer data recording theorized to collect enough brain function pattern, structure and organization so that in the future AI will be able to synthesize an AI emulation copy of that functioning brain, a computerized clone of that human mind. But it is not at all a big program, as all the theory is experimental, and costs way over $10,000 per dying patient. It's only for those who have decided attempting this brain scan data collection seeking future invention to live again somehow, totally experimental with no guarantees and costing that much money. But at least 25 people have given that payment to try this. Nectome has proven in a laboratory trial accuracy of preservation and scan of a pig brain so that the molecular data is within nanometers variance of the original organic brain tissue. It remains to be seen if new AI technology such as "quantum computer" capability will make an image of that brain able to mirror something of the original living brain enough to actually make a real computer clone version of that functioning brain and mind. However, this is really a research project. What I notice is that the story doesn't really explain the application idea, but a new kind of life after death is pretty amazing to be a real science research project. This sci-fi doesn't go there, but everything about this story connects in dozens of ways to that one.

She was shown going into the woods outside of the school because she was getting ready to hunt her prey. Her prey would be all the people that didn’t fund her but also all the right wing people that want to stop weed smoking.
I think that she also found a super hybrid weed, that when smoked turns others into undead left leaning Ángel demons that make others smoke the weed and therefore keep the cause “alive”. Great plot, thanks.

TBH, I've enjoyed the comments more than the film. Some of the acting wasn't entirely convincing, and the storyline, characters, motivations…well... simplistic.

Ok - i2 false notions . She was not motivated by excessive ego or any personality disorder obsessions. Her motivation was compassionate altruism , for the good of Mankind . Having no family , she was in a unique position to sacrifice her own life . The knowledge of leaving a legacy ( in lieu of children ) gave her death and life meaning . The machine was destroyed as it was no longer needed ,Zdunoch the theory had been proven , the data obtained . She appeared to be driven by reckless disregard for human life , but she actually cared about people and destroying the machine ensured no one else would suffer her fate .As can see she was able to face her death in a blissful state at the end .

VFX Todd - yep, I couldn't fault the performances, but either I've lost the ability to think, which is quite possible, OR the storyline was a little too vague.
