Don't forget that most of these "fights" were organized and run under the rules that the MMA fighters are used to, but a true martial artist does not use. My instructor taught us to fight with the intent to incapacitate our opponent. In extreme circumstances, this included lethal force. MMA is treated as a sport meant to entertain, not a skill for real combat.

even if they are masters that means nothing against an mma fighter

    • @fallenVoodoo420
      @fallenVoodoo420 17 дней назад

@@GurdityaSarainot entirely true. It comes down to what style or styles they mastered. However Master or Grandmaster is a title given towards experience and time they devoted. Not like belt or sash systems based on ability. When they are given the title of Master or Grandmaster, it allows them to open their own school. So it's regulated strictly to keep the number of "official" masters low. So most "masters" are old.
These bouts would be more of a match up if a younger disciple fought. Someone with strength and endurance. Also watching this, better balance lol.
I was trained in Muay Thai as a kid, got my 2nd degree black belt in Tai Kwon Do as a teen. Went Army and given SF hand to hand training and submissions as an MP. I could hold my own in a fight. Yet when I tried my hand at MMA as a training partner for my buddy, I learned those styles lack ground techniques. They have moves to put your opponents on the ground and submit them, but not a whole lot on what to do if you get tackled or dragged down. Obviously finishing moves those styles normally incorporated aren't legal. So I had to supplement with Brazilian Jujitsu and rolled around with a Marine buddy who was Scholarship wrestler.
So like Tai Chi wouldn't work well. It's good with flow and redirect, but not practiced in a combat situation. Unless you're David Carradine. 😂
Wing Chun has the stand up fight techniques but it's more redirecting or utilizing your opponents momentum. Which from experience, Wing Chun practioners can dish out some pain. But those guys weren't strictly Kung-fu. Guy at our gym did Akido and Wing Chun. Cracked ribs and being thrown and flipped was common if you fought him. He had more styles under him then just that.
Going off this video though, younger, stronger, kung-fu guys probably would have done better. All the techniques in the world can't account for mass, strength, durability, and endurance.
I've been low kicked in the legs multiple times and never went down from it. Full reverse leg sweep... thats a different story lol.

There is something to a real fighting style of Karate, Thai Boxing was the original MMA back in the 1960s when I had the opportunity to study with Puson Wong Su (Don’t hold me to the spelling after 50+ years). He was just in his late 20s and was from Thailand and had a 10th degree black belt. He started training at 8 years old and had served in his country’s military where he received their highest award for he and his unit defending a border incursion by the Chinese army one night when he personally eliminated around 8 or more of the enemy in hand to hand combat and repelled the Chinese survivors. He came to the USA under contract for 3 years to teach hand to hand combat at Ft Bragg, NC to the Green Betet. Following that in 1968 he was getting his masters at the University of Georgia when he offered a private class 3 times a week and taught the University Karate Team 4 nights a week. I took both and studied Taekwondo 3 hours a week in PE as well. We fought in class regularly for belt progression and by the end of the quarter, we were invited to a state competition for universities and private Karate Schools. If I remember correctly there were approximately 20+ programs represented and we competed all day long on a single elimination system. When Purson walked into the tournament and registered himself and our team, the judges immediately made him the head judge, although I don’t think that they had ever met him, they knew of his world ranking.
I was only a second degree yellow belt and only weighed around 155, but we had an hour of calisthenics before each class in the club and the team, and all in all I think that I was putting in around 20+ hours of combined training per week, and I was in the best shape of my life. I probably didn’t have 18% body fat if that. I won all of my matches, even though at 19, I had my final match against a man in his late 30’s who held a blue belt and was testing soon for his brown belt. It was like fighting someone’s father, and added a great amount of stress to me. So I used subversion and opened with a left hand stance that was a risk that assumed that he was right handed causing him to have to reverse his defensive stance just before the referee dropped his hand to fight. We had no padding back then on our feet or fist and were supposed to pull our punches and kicks to less than 50% impact. So I started with a left side jump kick to the body, except we had been practicing to reverse it in the air and land a right foot kick to the chest because it was harder to block after they were reacting to the first action of a left kick that appeared to be coming at them. It worked enough for a very quick point and my opponent was pissed. When we bowed and dropped into our stances, I was deliberately slow and he went into a left hand defensive stance and I jumped into a right hand stance causing him to have to shift quickly as the referee dropped his hand and causing him some confusion to his assault which allowed me to block a couple of punches and a kick and land enough of a punch to score a half a point. When we started again, I was in a left hand stance and was able to keep him from out scoring me for the match. He was a sore looser, and I was proud of my instructor. There was a much bigger story that didn’t involve me, but you all already think that I am full of shit, so that will be for another time and another place if I live long enough! I will say that we took second out of twenty something teams and we felt that we had been cheated because we were scored down for not screaming kiahaaa!!! After every punch and kick. We were taught that in the real world, you might startle your opponent on your first move, but after that it would be a fight to survive.
But the majority of clubs back then were using the yell each time like you might do during your demonstration of your learned maneuvers of certain sets of movements. Anyway, we were pissed because we were not told, but we preferred our method to the person!

The biggest problem with the 'masters' is that they are not used to being punched and they are also restrained from using some of their most potent weapons. I know how it feels, I have a brown belt in Karate and have been to tournaments where certain common techniques were simply not allowed.

It's about civilplay, not breaking that discipline with, let's say, an MMA fighter.

The only fighter who was like"Go head... What's a score card? You hit like my grandma and ill let you keep hitting me for fun ".
That means there is potential considering he didn't understand the rules and only lost because points scored. Not a knock out, or true defeat.
Real fighters don't keep score or hits landed. They go in until they get dropped or seriously injured. 🙏
The schools are adapting to the repeated failures.
There will be more Yi-longs soon.

I would think the lowest ranking pro fighter could beat any of those masters if they are 80 years old. That's why pro fighting has different weight classes, different levels, a general age range. Even the greats like Ali, Tyson, Chavez, get humiliated by younger stronger fighters in their old age.
