I just wanted to come back and say thank you! I have struggled for years with dry dermatitis prone skin that would also break out often. Somehow I found your video, which lead me to read Skin Sobering. I ditched all the skincare products. 3 months in and my skin has never been better. The first few weeks were hard - super dry, then super oily, then super rough and uneven tone. But so worth it. Finally at 34 I have realised what a scam skincare products are. Their job is to sell us products. When I ear about layering 7 or 10 products, it's just too much, and I don't think the skin needs all of that. I believe skincare tries to heal the superficial parts, but the real issue lies in the interior, such as what we eat, exercising, stress, etc. I think less is more-just one good moisturizer, a cleanser, and SPF when it's needed. Personally, I see a big difference by focusing on my interior and using fewer products or nothing at all.

I did this for a while and it turned my skin into a greasy oily mess 😢 I also damaged my skin barrier with harsh over exfoliating and harsh cleaners which makes it worse. Is there any hope or is my skin now permanently damaged and greasy ?

I am very dipressed right now... Broken skin barrier getting hives redness from using many Korean products .... Please tell me the routine of yours how many time you use vasline or how often should we use face on that time ... Bcz only vasline is working on my hypersensitive skin ..which I get from over exfoliate.. at night should we also skip cleanser???bcz in India here is humid weather..n everyone saying that vasline clog your pores if we are using it on long run
I know how you feel…it’s very hard when your skin condition is unusual. I wash my skin 2 times a day, morning and night, and every time after washing I put vaseline on my face. And I use it whenever I feel my skin is dried. I hope your skin condition gets better.
I do not use cleansers but only warm water. Even on days when I wear makeup, I remove it using only warm water. Some Japanese skin fasting people use pure soap, but it seems important not to wash too much. I try to apply Vaseline very thinly and it never clogged my pores. (as far as I observed…)
Yes, I use Vaseline in the summer as well. But I have very dry skin, so you would need to adjust the amount according to your own skin type. I hope it works for you!
I have a question, do you wash your face with soap one last time before starting skin fasting? I have put a few creams on my face and i’m not sure if i should wash them off with soap before starting skin fasting
In my case, I started without washing my face with soap. It is easy to get dry when just starting out, so I think you don’t need to wash the cream off if you don’t care.
I have fungal pimples on my face. Will washing the face with water make the fungal pimples disappear? Or is this system walking on bacterial grains only?
@@toonx3419 you should avoid any oils to put on your face also you should use antifungal nizoral shampoo for a week on face for a mostrizuer use Cerave pm because it is suits fungal acne

If I do water only and skin is very oily should I still moisturize? My skin is oily and combo do I need moisturizer? Its been 4 months since I've started washing my face with water and using petroleum. Although my pimples have minimised, now I have clogged cheeks (seems to be blackheads??). I noticed that its a bit more than usual. How can I fix this? I have oily skin😢
@@toonx3419 I've noticed that my acne/oily skin might be related to my hormones or food.. For the water washing, I'm still doing that and I'm not stopping any time soon. I'm trying to get my diet sorted out :)
@@growingdying hey, update is a bit long. Basically, pimples minimised. However, my cystic acne persisted and I noticed it's because my skin is oily. I also forgot to mention that I was also using tretinoin but I couldn't stop it because I was already 3 months in. But washing my face solely with water didn't dry out my skin surprisingly, even though I was using the harsh cream. After 6 months of washing my face with water and using Vaseline (along with tret) my cystic acne got worse than ever (I've always had cystic acne but I was starting to develop bruising on my skin) and I had super oily skin so I had to end my washing with face with water journey. In month 8 of my tretinoin journey, I decided to stop because it wasn't helping with my acne and went to get a blood sample to check my hormones. To my surprise, ITS FUCKING FINE. The only concerning thing was that my iron levels were low. This put me into a sad mood, making me feel helpless about my skin. At the end of November last year, I made a promise that I was going to work on my diet and try to improve my skin habits. I've gone back to using Vaseline and again, I've seen improvements on pimples straight away... But my cystic acne is worse than before so I'm just gonna have to wait and see how it goes. Washing my face without soap, I'll have to slowly stop but for now, I'll be washing my face once a day with soap. I'm sorry if this update is too long but I felt it was necessary to tell the full story because although I was washing my face with water and using Vaseline, I didn't mention tretinoin which gave me a different outcome to others. Hopefully in the next update, I'll be able to see results. Wish you luck (if you decide to start as well) ♥️♥️
Is it ok to use sunscreen tho and cleanse it with honey at night..i am confused wont our skin be bad without sunscreen? Someone pls tell me what to doo
For me, sunscreen has been a jerk for me. Everytime I wear it, it ruined my skin. I used to brought from multiple brand including the last time I brought cosrx aloe sunscream, it causes me fungal acne and rosacea. It makes me soo insecure that I decided to stop to let my skin breathe and just in 2 weeks my skin is clearer than ever! After that I decided to stop using any skincare and depends on a water only
Use UPF (UV protective factors clothing) like masks, hats, hoodies, arm covers with gloves etc especially if your regular clothes aren't double with a jacket or are thin and even then and use umberellas, sunglasses as much as possible and even if you use sunscreen as long as you use water and the sunscreen is waterproof it comes off if you wash till it comes off but not abrasively. Because abrasion is one big hidden problem. - And if it doesn't,use 1-2 drops of something like sunflower oil or hempseed oil with 0 comedogenic rating or honey if thats working for you and apply it and remove it with warm water and softest cloth like lycra very gently to prevent irritation and only use it once in the end of the day, sometimes even just soft cloth and warm water works. wash with water only in morning as you don't apply sunscreen at night. (don't use rancid oil and check expiry date, smell and color often). I also had same issue as you do I found this when trying to solve all this.
@Ajsjekeodj Yes, just be careful which micellar water or micellar lotion/milk you choose, as some do have other ingrediants, surfactants, etc... that can do more harm than good still. In fact, I just watched a video today in which someone did this... though she didnt recommend it longterm I saw the video today on is Sunday, October 27, 2024.
Your skin was probably dry because you're over washing your skin and using moisturizers. When you moisturize your face, your body doesn't feel the need to moisturise your facial skin anymore. I've read it can take for several months for your body to start to feel the ''panic'' and start moisture/hydrate your face again. I wish i've never started using moisturizer 😥
I think you are right. From experience, I believe that there is a homeostasis in the skin. It took some time for my skin to get used to less moisturizing, but it was worth it☺️
I did water only washing for a few years now! However my face was still flaky without any products at all! It did became better but the flaky skin problem never went away.. so I’m going to try petroleum jelly as it’s cheap too
@kachunho9142 I know this comment is from a year ago and I'm not her - but what I can say is that there are millions of methods of skin fasting apparently. An Esthetician says to just use a micro fiber face cloth - maybe just add some water at night in the shower… you may be fine. Some opt to use a cleanser - though others may say that defeats the point.
Hi! Would love for your advice! I wash with water for years but can’t solve the flaky skin problem! So I am going to try petroleum jelly (Vaseline)! However can I still exfoliate my skin once a week with a facial cloth and put petroleum jelly morning and night? I just splash with water without touching my face day and night
Thanks for your comment☺️ I would recommend not exfoliating as much as possible. I believe that as the skin turnover normalizes, the dead skin cells will decrease. I used to put vaseline on my pimples as well!
@@東京シンプルエコライフ I understand but the dead skin keeps clogging. What if I exfoliate with Vaseline once a week? Just rubbing Vaseline on the face. And also if I put Vaseline during the day my face gets too greasy. Did you try to put Vaseline only at night and nothing during the day to see if it works too?
@@東京シンプルエコライフ do you use your hands to rub your face when you wash with water? Or just let water flow down your face. Because rubbing removes some Vaseline and also considered as some exfoliating action
I have been skin fasting for about 9 months But my face are still having some acne or small pimples I am very curious if I really can use this method to clear the acne on my face. Can you share more information about your skin fasting’s habit or process, look forward to hear the update from you🙏🏻
🔸I just wanted to share my side for whoever needs it: 🔹𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙙 may work more easily if you don't use products like waterproof sunscreen & moisturizers but as both are necessary daily it may not work as easily for those who dont skip it. 🔹so if you use water only despite using 𝙢𝙤𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙧 & 𝙨𝙪𝙣𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 that doesn't come off with water only it might cause product residue to stay on your face causing you to clog pores. 🔹𝙤𝙞𝙡 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 : which is why something else needs to be used for cleansing such as using oil cleansing with oils that dont clog pores & are non-comedogenic like sunflower seed first (to remove the residue from face).the it needs to be wiped off with a soft cotton cloth & washed off with water. 🔹𝙣𝙤-𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙝/𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙝:wash it off with something that isnt anti-bacterial & doesn't mess up your skins microbiome (good bacteria that help with exfoliation & acne prevention) like fullers earth but as that may be drying if you dont leave the oil on you can use just water too (please dont scrub it, just gently wash it off if you use it as it can be abrasive). 🔹𝙢𝙤𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜: after oil cleansing & using fullers earth it doesn't strip moisture as much but those who need petroleum jelly they can/use another moisturizer that doesn't disturb my skins microbiome. 🔹Or just use a 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙝 without preservatives.instead of using oil cleansing (unless you're double cleansing) Theres a brand called honeststory.co on insta that also talks about water only skincare & formulated products that actually protect your skins microbiome. 🔹𝙪𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙙: idk how effective their products are but i m mentioning it because of info they give on their Instagram page which is worth checking out regardless of whether you buy their proucts or not. 🔹I wanted to state their username, but it created the website link instead cuz their insta user name is same as their site. 🔹so visit their Instagram page & read their info too before buying any products because like me you may figure something out without buying em too incase you cant access their products easily/want other options. 🔹𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨: i personally may/may not try em if facewash free method works for me & if there isnt any no-facewash sustainable way long term cuz idk how long i can keep going with fullers earth just yet. So yeah. 🔹𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 : but i think before trying something its worth checking its research if there is any, eg. Honeststory claims preservatives disturb our skins microbiome so checking if thats true needs to be checked. 🔹𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙗𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙤𝙢𝙚: thy also say anti-bacterial facewashes disturb skins microbiome it too.which is true too & i listed a source below too. 🔹𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙢: so instead of water cleansing using products that you need & ones that dont mess with your skins microbiome might be more helpful too. 🔸𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙨: water only method is based on fixing skin microbiome so you can check the following video on how to fix your microbiome without water only method as well since in todays day and age its not always realistic to not use sunscreen, moisturizer, makeup (thats easier but other two are unskippable). How to fix your skins microbiome ruclips.net/video/AlF8fkz27hI/видео.html This also explains about skin fasting, aka water only. Method. It explains why to add/remove something. ruclips.net/video/kZOC6N5lBuY/видео.html 🔸𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙖𝙘𝙣𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙣 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚: olena beleys acne tips ruclips.net/video/Zaxj3rgG4Q4/видео.html 🔹olena beleys video 2 . ruclips.net/video/J01fIEVlkwY/видео.html 🔹olena/dr.dray explain similar approach of less products are better but they still help balance the skin care without completely eliminating products/using too mich products either.. So they just tell you what you need & what you dont to have clear skin. 🔹𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧: 🔹im glad water only worked for you though & it takes courage to make this video. 🔹& tho i havent tried water only because i knew i used waterproof sunscreen which is compulsory, it wouldn't just come off with water & only oil cleansing would leave it too oily so i needed to come up with method i mentioned above. 🔹it was helpful to hear your journey to see if it d work for me or not & so on. Good luck with your life ahead.
@buydiluhang806 As a blind skincare enthusiast - not an Esthetician... I'd more than recommend putting on sunscreen. However, there is a video from an Esthetician who recommends skincare fasting - just using microfiber face cloths to remove makeup, sunscreen - etc etc.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, petroleum jelly may not suit some people, but petroleum jelly itself is harmless compared to cosmetics. I can't say that using Vaseline will prevent even one pimple from forming. look at your skin and decide if you want to try it or not🙏

Thnx sis , but I wanted to say this might not work for everyone. And really thanku for this vid
This is not remotely true. Everyone’s skin will heal after teenage years, that’s how mitosis works…skin cells will produce and regenerate and die until death.
This isn't a video to fix acne scars or look younger, but to fix acne so it works if you're looking to fix acne. She's not saying you'll get exact same results as she did either just because you skin fast, she's just saying you'll reduce acne and that's why it's ok to try it if that's peoples goal and save their money too. - It's worked for many people around the world that aren't of Japanese ethnicity and possibly even older because irritation, dryness caused by skincare is universal. And she herself admitted she still has acne scars and didn't say her routine clears scars, but your comment implies she did as you said compared japanese and others skin and how theirs heals but others doesn't heal post 30" so just clearing that up.
But is it hard to rinse out the vaseline with only water ? Also after skin heals how can we use makeup bc we only wash with water how would we remove the makeup?🥹

@@東京シンプルエコライフ thankyou ...so you don't use any cleanser whenever you wash your face?? Vasline is too heavy moisturiser.. will it clog pores ???
I do not use cleansers but only warm water. Even on days when I wear makeup, I remove it using only warm water. Some Japanese skin fasting people use pure soap, but it seems important not to wash too much. I try to apply Vaseline very thinly and it never clogged my pores. (as far as I observed…)
@@東京シンプルエコライフ you are also using vasline in hot weather temperature conditions....????
Yes, I use Vaseline in the summer as well. But I have very dry skin, so you would need to adjust the amount according to your own skin type. I hope it works for you!
Thx for this video, i am one week in of only washing with water and moisturzing hope it gets better soon
@@東京シンプルエコライフ Thank you. Can you use other moisturizer if you don’t have petroleum jelly?
If I can’t get petroleum jelly, I will try with jojoba oil. But I recommend petroleum jelly because it is harmless for almost any type of skin.
It's okay to wash face with water 2x a day ...morning and night
Just came here to say this is true. Our face is much like a 🐱 self cleaning. You try to clean it w soap and it destroys the natural protective biome.
Can caveman regimen also help for acne scars
Thank you can i wash my face only with water and moisturize my skin with a ceramide cream is this ok? Or i must use vasline

Hey miss do you still doing this method? Is it still working? I live in a hot humid country with air pollution I wonder if washing with only water would be enough?
If I do water only and skin is very oily should I still moisturize? You mentioned you have dry skin so you felt your skin was dry but didn’t put moisturizer bc you believed it was better to put less and thought your skin would adjust? My skin is oily and combo do I need moisturizer? Im not using moisturizer rn because I’m not cleaning with soap so I’m scared of putting any moisturizer.. just wanna do water and my skin doesn’t feel dry it’s actually very oily. but idk if I should still moisturizer
Hey I have same trouble. I start water only 1 week. 😢
It may be hard at first. But I think it’ll ok if you do it carefully. I hope your skin gets better!
Its been 4 months since I've started washing my face with water and using petroleum. Although my pimples have minimised, now I have clogged cheeks (seems to be blackheads??). I noticed that its a bit more than usual. How can I fix this? I have oily skin😢
Any solution?
@@toonx3419 I've noticed that my acne/oily skin might be related to my hormones or food.. For the water washing, I'm still doing that and I'm not stopping any time soon. I'm trying to get my diet sorted out :)
Did it get better?@@Smexy_Ryan
@@Smexy_Ryanhey any updates ?💓
Wish you luck (if you decide to start as well) ♥️♥️
Petroleum jelly is highly comodogenic. Can i use it on my oily acnepron skin?
no lol, do you even need to moisterize? if ur skin is oily why moisterize?
Thank you 🍃
Can I use micellar water as just the cleanser than wash it off than moisturizer?
@Ajsjekeodj Yes, just be careful which micellar water or micellar lotion/milk you choose, as some do have other ingrediants, surfactants, etc... that can do more harm than good still.
In fact, I just watched a video today in which someone did this... though she didnt recommend it longterm
I saw the video today on is Sunday, October 27, 2024.
3:03 yes plz
I will!

Hello, may I ask if you are still washing face with water only ? and will you wash face during the shower at night ?
@kachunho9142
I know this comment is from a year ago and I'm not her - but what I can say is that there are millions of methods of skin fasting apparently.
An Esthetician says to just use a micro fiber face cloth - maybe just add some water at night in the shower… you may be fine.
Some opt to use a cleanser - though others may say that defeats the point.
Let’s talk about how beautiful you are!!!!
Do you exfoliate your face at all or you do not exfoliate after using water only and petroleum jelly
If I have pimples. Can I apply Vaseline over the pimple too?
Thanks for your comment☺️
I would recommend not exfoliating as much as possible.
Because rubbing removes some Vaseline and also considered as some exfoliating action
very informative, thank you
Thank you for leaving comment 😊
May I please know if you use spf in the morning?
How you protect skin from sun,
no sunscreen..?
I have been skin fasting for about 9 months
But my face are still having some acne or small pimples
I am very curious if I really can use this method to clear the acne on my face.

🔹olena/dr.dray explain similar approach of less products are better but they still help balance the skin care without completely eliminating products/using too mich products either..

As a blind skincare enthusiast - not an Esthetician... I'd more than recommend putting on sunscreen.
However, there is a video from an Esthetician who recommends skincare fasting - just using microfiber face cloths to remove makeup, sunscreen - etc etc.
I'm just curious about sunscreen, how i can wash out only with water? Or stop using sunscreen for some time?🤔

Guysss . Please dont do this . She gives good info , and its better too. But dont forget , she is genetically blessed with young skin till late 30s . It will regenerate and heal the acne marks or scars . But caucasian skin or other skin dont heal after teenage . Some acne scars last long even for 20 years for us . 😅 .
