Not an expert on Mexican history but even I know the "Triple Alliance" was not between the Aztec, Toltec and Mayan. It was between three city states in the Valley of Mexico. If this video gets something that basic wrong than I am not trusting it for anything else
The Aztec "empire" was really just one city that would have tribute from the other cities and the Toltec and Aztec are the same because the Toltec migrated to Thenotlitchlan(I'm aware I missed spelled it)
Also the three cities were Texcoco Tenotlanchlan and Thenotlitchlan (pretty sure I misspelled two of the names but I'm not an expert)
The main dogs were the Mexicas, the other two groups who joined and formed the triple alliance is what is know today as the aztecs but they weren’t Mayans, the Mayans were doing their thing with astrology and science in the south.
There are some inaccuracies, but it's a good video. I'm posting this comment so I can come back and provide the accurate data needed. :)
care to share?
Wonderfull video
Thanks for talking about my country: D
Giorno i didn’t know you were born in Mexico
@@KumoYunKo yes, I'm from the Italian mafia, right? So I decided to move to Mexico
@Gisele Diaz si
very nice
hold up the Mexicas never formed a treaty with the Mayas. It was by Tenochtitlan (Mexicas-Aztecs), Texcoco and Tlacopan which became the foundation for the Mexica/Aztec empire.
Cool
nice vid!
I agree...great video but, considering the narration is fast, would be helpful if the names of the places, civilizations and other native words were posted on the graphics. Or have an accompanying transcript to follow along.
For example, when discussing early Meso-American writing, the closed captions state that the "Mayan and the supple tech cultures"...I had to google "early mesoamerican writing" to realize it was the Mayan and the Zapotec. UGH!
How many of you have waited for him to say ... Mexico. ?
Nice video
I didn’t know that😮
❤
BS!! USA did not demand the withdrawal of French troops from Mexico, Mexico won the Battle of Puebla to France. 5 De Mayo, it is celebrated in USA by the way .
Nope, the famous symbolic battle of Puebla occurred on 5th May 1862 but the French won soon after (fact that is not commonly mentioned), and that was how the Second Mexican Empire could be sustained; with the encouragement of local conservative politicians, intellectuals and clergymen along with the military and political support from France. That lasted until 1867 when as said on the video, France lost its interests in Mexico (because of many factors), and it is true, the US helped out to overthrow the government of Emperor Maximilian I (who was left alone) by giving support to Benito Juárez.
Yes, perhaps it’s not true that the US "kicked out" the French from Mexico but they played their role. So the Battle of Puebla doesn’t really have much to do with the outcome of this mess.
Dude, look at the first reply, do your research before commenting stupid crap like this..
@@moth_ishere1513 frfr, the french kicked our ass we only won 1 battle lol it was basically mexicos mini stalingrad with help from us weapons since we were running out of that and they just finished up their civil war and after pushing them a bit they decided to leave
@@samcreel Nice and yeah, also the Catholic church 1/3 of it but yeah I agree
@@samcreel what you forgot to said is...that the US was going to be occupied by france hence the French states on canada, (they franchutes were attacking from every angle) and...if it wasn't for that "little" battle won by mexicans (by the way , native people, NOT the criollos mixed races mostly descendants of spaniards and britts) against the French you my dear will be speaking French right now! (And I know you don't care)
The batalla de puebla gave enough time to Lincoln to convince his fellow peoples that IF they didn't pull toghether france will take over! Lets not forget the north of US and South were divided, right?? In the Mexican museum exist a letter written by Lincoln to Juarez congratulate him for the push against France and YES they eventually took over, but traitors as always Maximilianoand carlota were killed, by their own people!! So please get your head out of your butts and I will said this: regardles of what kind of Europeans did what, all of them are a pestilence to native americans from the North pole to the Patagonia including the Caribbean island's!! Spaniards, french, Britts, Portuguese and every European and their descendants are responsible gor the biggest genocide in human history!! Whether you like it or not!! All the disgusting diseases were brought by europeans and lets not forget the slavery of black people!! So yeah you can be proud of all them invaders that said a lot of you all.
BTW youtube is gonna erase my comments because they love to see how dumb and masoquist you guys are, honoring the very people that brought the worst shit to our shores. 😎

@Alejandro Rivero Jr. jaja que pendejo
It's a great video but it is so fast to understand mexican history, despite this it's an
illustrative review of the mexican history, because it talks about Mexico since our ancestors to the present Deal with Canada and United States.
Just pause the video! Simple!
Wow! Completely left out Benito Juarez, Pancho Villa and Zapata, minimizing the 1911 Revolution that established the current Mexican government.
He did mention it as civil war
I was shocked by this too. I had to rewind twice to make sure I didn't miss anything. No mention of Benito Juarez?!
I just noticed the way they said “Maize”.. Maize is Spanish for corn, and is pronounce “maeez”.
Maize is another word for corn in English. The main difference is that "corn" usually refers to the crop while "maize" refers to the plant itself.
thanks very good content but you should make your videos translated with subtitles included in Spanish
This a pile of half-truths and terrible omissions
Could you give an example
Not to mention the fact that he said Mexico like... hundreds of times
Amen.
@@user-bn3cb4be5oWell, the Triple Alliance was not Aztecs (who didn't even call themselves that), the Toltecs and Mayans . . . the Triple Alliance was among Tenochtitlan, Texcoco and Tlacopan. Iturbide came BEFORE Porfirio Diaz, not after. While Mexico may have the second largest economy in Latin America, it is far from having the second largest GDP per person and it ranks EXACTLY 15th worldwide. The map shows Texas in the wrong place 4:32). The Porfiriato was not a happy time for most of Mexico's population. It was authoritarian and pushed aside the concerns of poor Mexicans (the video does not mention this). Madero was a chump; Villa and especially Zapata were much more important during this time. Is there any mention of Benito Juarez AT ALL?!?! There are undoubtedly other omissions and untruths. I don't have time! Don't get me wrong, I'm an American and I LOVE Mexico! It's my favorite place, and when my wife and I are both retired, we plan on moving to Mexico City.
Then why don't you post missing facts and for the record, it's a summary stupid.
Six minutes six minutes six minutes dougie fresh u on playa....
Benito Juarez was a significant president of Mexico. Mexico was dominated by the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI for its Spanish acronym, from 1929 to 2000. Lazaro Cárdenas was a president who allowed foreign oil to arrive to Mexico. Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was elected a leftist president in 2018 and next year he leaves office. I was born in Mexico and raised in the United States. I live in central California, which was once Mexico.
What the hell happened to the XX Century History section of the video? No mention to Carranza, Zapata, Villa or the Mexican Revolution in general, which is the base for the modern country. No mention to Calles, the dictatorship of the PRI, Cárdenas or the return to democracy in the 1990´s. Says that Mexico used to be a poor country until the 1980´s when the "Mexican Miracle" happened, when in reality the Mexican Miracle occurred 40 years before, during the 1940´s, while the 80´s was precisely the worst economic crisis Mexico faced since the revolution. It credits the USA basically for every positive achievement of Mexico AND directly avoids mentioning the XXI Century that started more than 20 years ago.
I mean, it had some consistent mistakes on previous historical eras (Like when they mix the relations between Toltecs and the Mayans with the Triple Alliance in the Valley of Mexico that happened 200 years later), but things really got out of control when it arrived to the XIX and specially the XX Century. I´m not trying to be annoying, it´s just that not mentioning Benito Juarez and the Mexican Revolution here is like making a summary of the history of the USA without mentioning Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War... How can you possibly skip that?
Chill out, the video clearly say history of Mexico in 5 minutes, if you want every detail from thousands of years you shouldn’t click on the video, it looks like you know all of it anyway
@@oconde01
I am not asking for details Mr. Conde. I am looking for the basics, an Benito Juárez, the Mexican Revolution, the PRI era and the return to the democracy are all basics. A five minute video about the history of Mexico could easily be focused on only these five main points:
1 The territory was home of hundreds of complex native cultures until the Spanish arrived, and conquered the Aztec Empire.
2 This place was a colony of the Spanish Empire for 300 years until it got its independence caused by structural fractures in the political system.
3. The first century was characterized by several foreign interventions, the lost of 60% of the territory and the wars lead by Benito Juárez against conservatives.
4. After Porfirio Díaz stablished a 30 year long dictatorship, a violent civil war erupted called the Mexican Revolution.
5. This Revolution ended with the PRI party being in power for over 70 years, until the return to the democracy in the year 2000.
It is really not that hard.
Does anyone know about a 5 minute video about the architecture of Mexico?
That would be super cool.
We have a better chance of learning the True History of Mexico from Russia than we do Amerikkka.
This is so wrong, so much more to tell and half way told things. There’s no way you can fit all Mexico’s history in just this.
It was an overview. It wasn't meant to be a detailed lesson. If it was, this video would be hours long.

Man, why did you have to end the video like everything is all good in Mexico. Their government is a mess. Their economy is a mess. Their public safety is a mess. Mexico is a mess. I was trying to find a video that would explain in sequence how it all became a mess.
