On the 18th of this month I just bought my wife a late Valentines and early Anniversary gift and got her the 2023 Palisade SEL. We were looking for a Telluride for along time and couldn't seem to find one on a lot here in Southern California. Everything was something we didn't like about it or they were coming soon. Finally, wife seen a Palisade and wanted to see one for herself. She test drove it and a week later, she brought that exact same one home. We just have to get used to all the dang stuff it has. Cameras everywhere 🤦🏽♂️😂Such a smooth ride though.
We have a 2022 Palisade and love it. The technology features are fantastic. The only thing we wish I had was power folding mirrors. At the time there were some pretty significant differences in the interior design that made the Palisade a clear winner. I wasn’t interested in it as a vehicle choice until we drove it. The drive mode changes are also great. For the vehicle that it is the sport mode is quite sporty.
Palaside for me as I have a 2021 Calligraphy. It’s been a great vehicle. Back then it also came with a 36,000 mile or 3 year maintenance agreement, basically free oil changes and tire rotate, also 3 years free phone remote option. I agree with JillO on the white interior, beautiful but I went with black and wish they offered a dark brown but I guess you can’t have “ everything” for that price range. Oh and on the wiper deal, first it does suck but, living in a northern climate you kind of learn to think ahead and put the wipers on service mode before you go to bed for the night if your not in a garage. But remembering is a issue I can’t blame on the car. As I said it’s been a great car and I’m still stumbling across features I didn’t know I had. Maybe upgrading next spring and looking forward to seeing the new Toyota GRANG Highlander and the Mazda CX-90 so please put these on your list. Thanks and great comparison Tim and JillO.
Palisade all the way. Way more room in the 2nd row, smoother driving system, and way more luxurious feel. Also has a couple more features the Telluride doesn’t have!
Telluride is $55k and it doesn't have heated third row seats or massaging front seats? Palisade FTW! You can always opt for a different interior color.
I'm having issues figuring out which one I want because I like the features you get with the palisade but I like the colors inside and out with the telluride. I love the black out exterior look on vehicles yet you can only get that on the lower model of the palisade.
As a machinery technician when I was in the U.S. Coast Guard, part of my duties was to maintain the diesel engines on the boats. We had mostly Cummins and Detroit Diesels and they all did consume some amounts of oil. Granted, they were considered heavy duty cycle engines and probably had different tolerances than modern automotive diesels. But even if so incrementally that it is not noticeable, all engines do consume some small amount of oil. The materials and engineering of todays engines are very good at mitigating this especially considering how light todays oils are. I remember years ago the racks of oil cans at the local gas station. The attendant would check your oil level and it was not uncommon to need a quart. And that is when you changed oil every 3000 miles or less.. I own a Chevy Silverado with the 5.3 and an Honda CRV with the 1.5T. I do check the oil levels often and neither vehicle ever has the level fall below the minimum level prior to oil change time which I do at 5000 miles despite using synthetic oil. But I have had vehicles in the past that did; namely 2 Dodge Cummins trucks and a Ford F150 with the 302 V8. Manufacturers likely put acceptable limits on oil consumption to determine at what point an engine is in need of more serious repair work rather than simple routine maintenance including adding minor amounts of oil in between changes. And of course a little warranty CYA as well. I wouldn't worry too much about this at this time. If there is an inherent problem with this engine it will eventually show up. But from what I see, the little 3.0 is a great little motor that was well tested and one that I may consider to replace my current Silverado.
Hyundai and kia give you full bumper to bumper warranty for 8years/160k, 10 years ppwer train/leader protection and rust protection. And lets not mention the technology and features for a better price. Its just a no brainer. Anyways people normally change cars around 5 years
My 2015 VW golf also needs a step to put the windshield wipers up ahead of ice and snow. It is called service mode and it is a minor annoyance. I think the reason they tuck the wiper arms under the edge of the hood is to reduce drag.
Had our Kia Telluride ordered but then changed to the Palisade when the 2023 models came out. We didn't like all the black exterior trim on all models of the Telluride and only are interested in the Calligraphy trim on the Palisade due to the same issue. We're going to have to wait a long time to get one as many buyers are wanting only the Calligraphy Palisade.
Prices are good for both if those were actually prices. Since they are in high demand, everywhere is charging 5-10,000 over msrp. I prices telliride pro xline(not top trim) it was 64,000. I bought my 2023 palisade calligraphy for 60,000.
I am really torn on these two. I like the interior on the Kia better but have never liked the front end. Exterior for me usually goes to the Palisade. If I had to purchase one I would likely go Kia
Almost every reputable car site has Telluride Number 1and Palisade and Piolet alternating between 2 & 3. Overall looks Telluride by a mile. Who cares about heated 3rd row seats and electric 3rd row seats take way too much time that manual 3rsd row seats. All 3 vehicles you can't go wrong. Just personal preferences.
I just purchased the 2023 Telluride SX Prestige. I like the Palisade but the interior colors were either black or the horrible off white with blue. I live in the high dessert climate in WA. Black interior and you will cook. The front of the palisade looked too plasticy with fake chrome on the front, Great seats for massaging seats but that is what rest stops are for. I just could not get past the colors of the palisade and local dealer wanted $6000 over MSRP. My KIA deal was at MSRP and I have the Glacial Pearl white with the mahogany interior. Also KIA is made in the USA!
The Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy has a luxury car interior at a non-lux price, and it does not require the use of premium octane gasoline. This SUV is the deal of 2023.
One thing that frustrates me with these vehicles (and plenty of others) is that you can't get anything fancy without a sunroof. I'm very tall and sunroofs just take away valuable space for my noggin, so I find them annoying. Yes, you can get both of these vehicles without a sunroof, but if you want anything other than an el-strippo model, yer' gettin' a sunroof. BAH! At least the 2023 Honda Pilot can be had in the EX-L trim without a sunroof. That alone is probably enough to push me to the Honda vs. the Korean twins.
No power folding mirrors in the Palisade-that's showstopper for me. Also don't care for the Chiclets grill or the pushbutton gear selector. Went with the Telluride which looks like an SUV.
Not sure why you’re picking the semi-recessed wipers as a hill you’re willing to die on, but give it a rest. Likely done as a compromise for a small percentage point of fuel economy improvement by reducing aerodynamic drag; NOT because an engineer didn’t do thorough winter testing. Owners of the vehicle are going to run into the issue one time then learn to put the wipers up whether before a snow storm rolls in or to change the wipers. I went through both scenarios on my Giulia and my kids’ Elantra GT when I changed the wipers last fall and again a few months later when we had the threat of a bad snowstorm.
In my opinion, I think Telluride suits Men , while the Palisade suits Women. But I’m a man and I really wish I have the interior of the Palisade in my Telluride!
My $.02... I prefer the Palisades over the Telluride, though both are nice. Problem with the Palisades interior is virtually no options on color - black or tan. I also really hate the material they used for the console... I think it's metal, but I think it looks awful. Still, interior layout is nicer than Telluride, and it does have massage seats. Exterior wise I find both a little to boxy but OK. Again, I find the Palisades the more attractive of the two, but I'm not totally in love with either. My wife and elder daughter have Hyundai's, so I've spent a lot of time at that dealer and have sat in and driven a couple of Palisades. My youngest daughter has a Kia and I've spent some time at that dealer as well. Sat in but didn't drive a Telluride. So what did I wind up buying... a 23 Toyota Highlander Platinum Hybrid. At the end of the day the 36 MPG was to much to ignore. If the Palisades had a hybrid option I might have ended up with that. Then again... we're currently wrestling with Hyundai over my wife's Sonata engine, which is losing oil and they won't honor it. Very concerning for a company whose reputation was built on service.
Palisade, I think it looks more elegant with features like massage seat, park assist so you can easily take it out of your garage or parking space with the keyfob, heated and electric 3rd row plus the fenders are fully painted so you dont get to see those horrible black plastics that seems like if the vehicle has a deceased
Just got a 2023 Robust Emerald Green Calligraphy. Phenomenal vehicle that feels way more expensive then it actually is.

The clarity and quality of this video is the best I have early scene.

These interiors are far nicer than the new 2023 Honda Pilot.
Yea and the Honda won’t be ready for the junk yard in 5 years

17:00 I love how the redline appears on the tach when the car thinks you’re going to get near it. I think the Telluride has a better exterior design.

Did not realize the Telluride has so much shiny black plastic. Scratch, fingerprint and dust magnet. The worst.

Palisade seems more luxurious.
I have one and it really is. Chose the Palisade over a BMW x5
I think that’s the SX Prestige X-line…not X-pro. The interior color I believe is terracotta brown.
I like the exterior of the Kia and the interior of the Hyundai. How do they stack-up to the new Honda Pilot?

Telluride for 3.5 years. it is marvelous. I will be sticking with the telluride.

Honda Ridgeline has heated windshield wipers... just sayin'
Hyundai palisade love my 2024
Palisade any day!
Unfortunately Kia ceased their Nightfall edition

No snow in Korea. LOL That is very poor design.
