    HotA Crimson Duelist is still hitting on 2+. She also received a nerf in that her free fight action can only target the same enemy operative.

    HotA's Dark Animus invigoration is also changed and better. Before you could only buff your APL at the start of your activation, but now you can do it before or after any action in the activation. That opens up things like charge, kill someone in melee, pop the extra APL, shoot someone or do a mission action. I used to find I normally only got 1 pain token and then tried to save it for the APL buff in the next TP. What normally happened though is I'd get shot and ended up using it for a defence re-roll as I was going to die if I didn't!

      I read that change, but I can't work out why it would matter at what point you pop the extra APL. Probably my lack of brain wrinkles.

      @@TabletopImpulse Yeah I read it as you could say activate your leader who has 2 APL, he then charges and kills a guy in melee, earning himself a pain token. Currently you'd then end there and have to wait until the next TP to activate him again and buff him to 3 APL with his pain token. In the new rules he could buff his own APL immediately after he got the pain token, giving himself a third action such as a shoot with his blast pistol or a mission action. For me that's better as sometimes they wouldn't survive until the next TP to use the pain token and I'd use it on a save re-roll else it would just be lost!

    Kinda chill and talks about stuff is a very apt description. 👍

    We did see a Leader for a team which normally hits on 4s: the Pathfinder Shas'ui. He hits on 3s.

      Good remembering batman, so this would seem to indicate that we are just seeing a reduction in 2+'s across the board. I say reduction because another kind commenter pointed out that the crimson duelist in this very preview is allowed to hit on 2+. So it's curious.

    Toxin Coating always was a must have on the Flenser and the Duelist, now having it for 1 EP two times per TP really is a great buff :-)

    Excellent video sir! I hope the Blades of Khaine gets a boost from these changes.

    3:33 I think you're likely to want a mix of equipment, although I also think that what you need will depend heavily on what boards you are on. I can't see the Volkus terrain getting a great deal of play in the firest six months, especially if we get comprehensively raided by the 40K crowd.

    • @TabletopImpulse
      @TabletopImpulse  Месяц назад

      I understand the sentiment, but like, I really think we should be playing lots and lots of Volkus because thats what the game will have been tested on. In fact, I don't think any of the obsolete kill zones from season one of the previous edition are going to work without grandfathering in various traits that simply are not part of the game any more.

      @@TabletopImpulse I don’t disagree that Volkus will be the optimal terrain set, but if Kill Team players and gaming groups can’t get their hands on it because we’ve been raided to death by the 40K crowd it’s not going to matter. My plan if this happens is to use my Sector Imperialis stuff to build layouts as close as possible to the ones provided in the books.

    Find or make an eight inch piece of sprue. Paint it in eight, alternating, orange and black, one inch segments?

    • @TabletopImpulse
      @TabletopImpulse  Месяц назад

      That would require a bit of trust from your opponent, but you could

    5:11 Having to remind people they can't bend around stuff just because they're using a tape measure is really going to be irritating for the first few months. Incidentaly as you now have a 3D printer you can make your own measurs and movement steppers. I've seen a few .stls for 9" measures in the style of the Kill Team measures already.

    • @TabletopImpulse
      @TabletopImpulse  Месяц назад

      Understood, but movement steppers slow the game down to a snails pace, even if they are the most technically correct, I simply don't require that level of precision from my games of Warhammer.

    • @majortom7186
      @majortom7186 Месяц назад

      @@TabletopImpulse I don’t necessarily agree, the magnetic steppers we use are no slower that a standard measure, possibly faster as we can measure front-to-back like civilised games do 😜

    So in the past, scouting phase came down to, do I need the extra barricade to safely grab mid board objective or set up a safe vantage point, OR do I need the dash to reach an objective. Or do I think my opponent is doing the free dash and I need to steal the initiative?
    Now with you not being able to score TP1 i can see everybody picking the extra equipment piece OR trying to steal the initiative

    • @TabletopImpulse
      @TabletopImpulse  Месяц назад

      I think it will come down to the individual team, some teams will want a free strategic ploy on turn one, others will want 5th equipment. I think the dash is harder to justify now.

    11:17 eliminating 2+ hits would be a good thing IMO.

    • @TabletopImpulse
      @TabletopImpulse  Месяц назад

      Very possibly, though that dream is already dead because as another commenter posted out the dark elder combat specialist in this very video is hitting on 2+

  • @Raptor0256

    2+ gone for majority of operatives is a good thing. no more "guaranteed" hits

    Do flamers still hit on 2+?

    • @scelonferdi

      Would hope so. They've been underpowered so far. It would also reinforce their effectiveness against saves of any kind.

      Great question, if I go to reddit and look at the leaks I can see that the flamers for the servo sentry and the vespid are both hitting on 2+
