Dean - this could be one of the most important videos you’ve done mate; no sugar coating, just straight to the point, no nonsense guidance to get you through. Cheers pal.
Thank you Danny, Thats great feedback. I am still learning to get better at this format of using Video but i am improving with the help of others like David Frampton and Kate Warby, Happy New Year
Out of all the videos/clips you've made Dean, THIS is the wake up slap I needed! Spent years bouncing between different sets of advice, methods, taking notes, not taking notes, over thinking and complicating the hell out of it! Started again beginning of December but decided after 16 runs to get Xmas out the way, will be back to it this week and will be following your advice and your advice alone. No social media, no chat groups etc! No distractions, working part time and just head down and plough on! Aiming for Xmas 2025 so we'll see! Thanks Dean!
I tell everyone, The Knowledge is easy! It's exactly like going to the gym and getting muscular. The process of getting muscular is easy, it's the repetition and consistency that is difficult. Calling roads, getting points and map work is easy. It is the repetition and consistency that is difficult. Many people overcomplicate the gym. "Do I take creatine?" "How long should I rest between sets?" "Should I use machines or free weights?" "How long after a session should I ingest protein?". etc. Basically are you lifting weights, are you eating right? Well as Dean highlights in this video. The Knowledge is no different. Are you calling your Blue Books? Are you building points? Are you doing P2P? Are you revising your points? Don't overcomplicate it, just do it.
Actually true, Students by nature look for a way to do things without thinking and shortcuts that turn out to be detours. When the knowledge is actually easier than they realise.
Thank you Diego Happy New Year to you too. I am always here to help you get things on track. Lots of Ds usually means 1 of 2 things or both together. Calling bluebook badly (Lowers fluency and speed of thought) or lack of volume of point to point (Minimum should be 50 to 80, per day) all other factors play minimal roles.
Thanks for another great video. Based on this, it seems like bike work isn't that important until the written exam is complete and you're on to point to point. Is this accurate or have I misunderstood?
Thanks James, Not exactly right. Bike work is very important but the least important of the disciplines. Many people over prioritise bike work over Point to Point and Point revision. Doing your bluebook runs is bike work, then collecting points is bike work. But you must do 15 hours a week point to point and this should never be compromised. You can always compromise on bike work
Great adivce, One of the things im struggling to get to grips with is what points actually need a turnaround, apart from the obivous points on duel carriage ways or with bollards in the middle of the road. Is their a set criteria for what makes a point leave on left or right only?
Hi Kane there are rules in place regarding turnarounds but many people just seem to ignore them and turnaround everything. Zebra crossings do not need turnarounds. Pedestrian islands do not need turnarounds traffic lights and any form of studded crossing doesn’t need a turnaround. The general rule of thumb is that if in doubt then it most likely doesn’t need a turnaround. From experience those that are turnaround focused take longer to do the knowledge as they over burden on useless and low percentage information. Rather than mastering the basics and building detail as required
I’ve loved learning the runs so far only on run 40 but love being bk in around London, question for anyone lol. I’ve been learning 3 runs then the next day running them and so on. But I live 2hrs away and this is quite a journey. So I’ve now changed to doing 10 runs then going down Friday late sat morning doing all 10 runs. Question is will this stop me learning as much ? As il be in London less just 1 evening rather then the 3. Anyways love the vids and there great help.
If i were in your position I think I would do a very similar format. Use home time to get the runs called by repetition and map work. (seeing the map is everything in comparison to having mental images of the streets.) I would do as many as i could and experiment with my limits, even trying 16. (From experience 4 to 5 is most definitely the best amount in terms of ease) 8 seems to be where confusion and blurring really goes to a different level) Driving lots of runs in a day is not the best method but i think in your case it is. There is a lot more a i can say on this subject but for you just keep it up and push your boundaries
3:20 So it’s pointless to take a scooter and personally go up and down doing the runs. It’s only a matter of memorising them and repeat/call them fluently, right? In that case I really wonder how possible it to build a mental itinerary to run from point to point.
No it is not pointless, You have to begin to build image feeling and relationship with the runs. That is done by going out over time and making repeated visits. But without fluency you have nothing
@@WizAnn320 yep I’ve started. I haven’t submitted any application yet as I believe this is a titanic task for me. Just doing it on my own and see how it goes. Links and reverses are exam’s subjects? Thank you
@@danidriver4438 The exams are going to be any place to any place. If it happens to be a reverse run or a link run then it will be easier to answer. The idea is to learn point to point which is the ability to answer any question
It does not matter how many preset runs you learn. Having the ability to calculate any route is the key. 90% of reverse runs can be deducted by just learning them forward. The same would be said of WizLinks. Learning these as extra runs rather than learning how to do point to point is not a good a idea and will take longer
The Knowledge is easy? I am on appearances and I can only label your statement as outrageous and misleading Dean. Absolutely preposterous! I am doing the Knowledge your way ( Wizann ) and the Knowledge is still very, very hard. Statements like this and videos claiming to complete the Knowledge in 18 months (even though hypothetical) are misleading. The Knowledge is the hardest thing anyone will do in their life... I understand people have invested interest and will say anything to benefit themselves but the reality is nobody is doing the Knowledge these days because its too hard. Why do the Knowledge for several painful years when you can work for uber within three months of application is what has killed the Knowledge. If the Knowledge is so easy then why is nobody doing the Knowledge? Also if its so easy then why is there an 80% drop out rate? I respect you highly Dean but I don't respect this statement at all. Best wishes for the new year.
Thank you Andy for your feedback, Obviously I don't agree and I think you missed the point of the video. Maybe i should have added that passing the knowledge is a little different, but doing the knowledge is easy. Which is all explained in the video. The knowledge is now growing at a very fast rate and numbers are doubling every six months. The fact is if the format is followed it is easy and most people do not follow the format or in most cases do anywhere near the volume of Point to Point required. Regarding 18 months, it is becoming possible again largely due to the fact of making people aim for and think of that as their target. I am not here to bring people down or say the game is dead, my job is to motivate and inspire as well as teach and guide to the best approach to take. I stand by my preposterous statement that the knowledge is easy. but i sincerely wish you a Happy New Year and i am here to help you with any aspect you may think you have gotten wrong on your journey so far. I will just add, Finding time to do the knowledge is not easy, making sacrifices to do the knowledge is not easy, dealing with nerves and exams may not be easy. But the learning of the knowledge itself is just a repetitive action that anyone can do and is the definition of easy.

The knowledge is easy because of Dean Warrington and his mighty WizAnn !!!

Great analogy thank you Tom. Happy New Year 🎉
To the knowledge boys and girls just learn what dean says to do you will pass it’s that simple
The problem
Is Dean sets out the path and the method but students won’t do the basics and enough p2p and won’t put in the graft
Thank you Terry. I still have not forgotten that i want to get you on a podcast in the new year. Happy New Year too

Yeah this video is great. I’m following deans method. I think it’s the same with anything in life. Master the basics. And be consistent 👍🏼
