    I used this song to turn a jazz piano player on to DT back in the late 90's. The look on his face during the solos and unison lines was priceless.
    I first heard DT when Z-Rock in Dallas played "Pull Me Under". I had just pulled into my apartment lot when it came on and I sat in the truck in astonishment for the whole time. It was such a fresh feel to metal and I loved it all.

      Hi Easy 😆 I'm glad you like the format ... there'll be more in the future. Video #1 was 6 months ago, but no Dream Theater ... I had suggested several songs, but I guess A Change of Seasons was too long for a first time try 😄 So back then we had Candlemass and The Wildhearts, which were Jim's choice.
      Isn't it funny, how we sometimes remember, where we heard certain songs for the first time ? In some other videos I already told my story of being young, 16 - 17 years, when I listened in bed with my little radio, later in the evening I changed stations to Radio Luxemburg, who broadcasted longer than my german station.
      I usually fell asleep, but before I fell deep asleep, there were certain songs on 3 occasions, which got my attention. As I didn't know them and they had no DJ, it took me a while to find out. Those songs were: Heart - Magic Man, Thin Lizzy - The Rocker, Chris Spedding - Motorbikin', I still love all of them 40 years later 🤘

    Images and Words is still my favorite Dream Theater album. My introduction was this album's song "Pull Me Under", first heard it on mtv's Headbanger's Ball.
    This album you get James LaBrie before his vocal issues. 1994, just after Christmas, he got a bad case of food poisoning, the resulting vomiting ruptured his vocal chords. Doctor's told him to rest, but he went on tour anyway for the "Awake" album. He said his voice didn't feel normal again until at least 2002.
    "Under A Glass Moon" and "Pull Me Under" are my recommendations when continuing with this album, but all the songs are great.
    Dream Theater dropped a new song a few days ago, called "Night Terror". First release since Mike Portnoy rejoined the band last year ,after 14 years.

    The melody and lyrics for this song were written while Charlie Dominici (RIP) was still the lead singer, and you can even find a bootleg of the band performing the song live in 1989 with only slightly different lyrics and the rest of the song pretty much the same. The live version from 2004 when James and Charlie did a duet of the song is pretty cool as it really allows you to compare their vocal styles in all their glory. It's not that Charlie's voice is bad, but he's an operatic baritone which wasn't the sound the band wanted, which is reflected in James' much higher pitch and range.

    Just a quick correction to some comments regarding backing vocals on this album. Backing vocals and harmonies for this album were done by James LaBrie and David Prater, the producer. A bunch of the heavily harmonized sections (e.g. the choruses of Pull Me Under and Take The Time) are mostly Prater’s vocals.

      It's all a question of taste and what you've heard first. I guess 80% of old Dream Theater fans like them better than Haken. But if there are fans, who didn't know DT before the Mangini phase, they might like Haken better.... especially James singing on the last tours was ...meeeh ..in certain songs
      Did you know, that Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress consisted of him, Eric Gillette of Neal Morse Band and the whole Haken except for the drummer ?
      Ross Jennings did a real good job singing Mike's 12 step suite and other great DT songs. I saw them live in 2017 🤘

      Oooo! I’m a BIG Haken fan, I can’t do the whole “superior” thing. Each is great but one connects better.

      @@JimNewstead Absolutely right. Make 10 people listen to the same song and everybody hears or feels something different .. so I don't like this "better or worse"-comparisons in music

    I was also turned off by the "muse" muse on Octovarium. Still not highly regarded in my mind

      I love the Score versions of The Root of all evil, Sacrificed Sons (hopefully soon here 😆) and Octavarium .. I surely skip The Answer lies within and I Walk Beside you when I listen to the studio album😁🤘

      @JimNewstead If you're a MUSE fan I assume it's a bonus, but I can't stand them. Sorry
