Thank you! I need to declutter for sure. My big yard which comes with the house is a great joy to me and part of my life. I am a master gardener and love that aspect of my life. However your video caused me to thinking what I can and will let go of.
You are so welcome! Thank you so much for the comment. And yes, you should absolutely keep the parts of your life that bring you joy!
Thank you. I am 52 and I have seen 2 of your videos about downsizing. I have started so many times but now I would like my time, money, and space to work for me.
Woohoo! You are so welcome! You've got this. I can't wait to hear how it goes!
This is such an important topic! I am just this week finally wrapping up the dissolution of my mom and dad‘s estate. Both had dementia to a degree, but my mothers was severe. She stayed in her house until two months before she died. She had a great love of her things, which turned into extraordinary clutter the last couple of years they were in the house.
It was terrible. I would walk in to visit them, and become so overwhelmed, I couldn’t accomplish anything for them there. But while my mother was in the hospital, and we knew she would go directly to a nursing home from there, I had the opportunity to box up most all of the clutter in the main living spaces.
I remember vividly sitting in the de-cluttered living room, still nicely decorated but greatly paired down, and I thought that if it had been like this, she could have stayed here longer. I was deeply struck by what a difference lightening the load of things made in the feel of the house-it made everything feel manageable, and not overwhelming.
I don’t really know psychologically why this would be. With a lightly decorated and furnished home, the load felt so lifted! So relaxed!
Because of handling so many life changes and family problems over the last years, I had stopped my efforts at decluttering my own home, and had just let things roll. That experience gave me encouragement to dig in again! I want to feel that lightness and manageability in my own life.
And, of course, even more, I do not want to leave the task to my children that my parents left for me and my brother. I do not fault them, it has so much to do with the time they lived in, but it is time for all of us to do things differently. Time for my husband and I to downsize, even if it is just downsizing our things while we stay in the same home.
Thank you so much for your comment! Good luck in your continued efforts to downsize/declutter!

Totally more time to d other important things in my life.
There is so much out there to see and do, right?!
Decluttering feels like a roadblock, preventing me from doing the things I’m meant to do. I have to get that done before everything else but it’s taking too long, I’m feeling overwhelmed.
I know it can feel overwhelming. Just take it one step at a time. One drawer. One cabinet. One pile. One countertop. You've got this!
Appreciate the content.
Music is distracting, unnecessary and too loud. All the best
Thank you for the feedback!
