      @John Brown I sure as hell would not want to be a cop these days.. it’s becoming a damn if you do, damn if you don’t type of job lately. They should be respected for being the only ones that will risk their lives to save our ungrateful behinds!! Let’s see if a stranger or neighbor will come to your defense or hunt down suspects whom wronged you or your family??? Yet people are unreasonably nit picking on every little wrong move. What’s a cop to do? The right thing & get fired,jailed, called a racist? Everyone wants to whine about being targeted! It’s a regular thing to do to get away with crimes now, very sad..
      Sure.. Get rid of the handful of idiot cops which should be dealt with individually. Why judge as a group! There are a lot of good cops & frankly even if they’re not that great hypothetically, they are still the only ones that can save you from crimes in progress!! So give them some credit!! Reformed/ funds directed to deeper training & more cops instead of unnecessary overtimes I can totally agree on, that’s it!! “Defund” was definitely the wrong choice of words.

    • @black1582
      @black1582 3 года назад +4

      No the stupidest thing ever is “qualified immunity,” it’s also unconstitutional. To allow cops to not face justice, when cops act as criminals, is to allow criminals to use the badge to commit crimes with impunity. I don’t think that police abolishment will work, but they’re either going to have to be reformed or replaced, with forces that actually act as police, protecting and serving the nation, instead of the “at war with the citizens,” criminal brigade, that the drug war, which was actually the “war on citizens,” has brought into reality. In most cities across the United States the police could be completely defunded, and that money could be used to hire private security forces that serve citizens directly, and citizens would be treated much better and more safely. That’s the meaning behind defund the police. And it’s not a bad idea. Think about how awful public hospitals are. That’s why we have private hospitals, where it’s not just take whatever treatment the government gives you, but citizens actually have a say. Could private forces do a better job if they were funded by the immense police budgets that the public funded police are doing? Probably. They could probably do it a lot cheaper too. And it’s the most Republican thing there is. People like you are so fond of saying: cut my taxes, and let the market fix itself. Why doesn’t that apply here?

    • @leslucas
      @leslucas 3 года назад +2

      We keep trying to get rid of the bad cops, but all the 'good' cops keep protecting them. I mean I'm sure any reasonable person would say that negates the good cop argument, but maybe you could provide an alternative explanation?
      Can you not see that a job that interacts with the public needs to maintain public trust? If you constantly harrass and harm that same public, then you shouldn't be surprised when public trust erodes.
      Did you know the PD usually makes up 50% of the local town budget? Some towns with 2-5k people are buying fully loaded APCs?
      Did you know cops fought for, and succeeded, the right to not be responsible for defending anyone in danger?
      Also, shooting someone in the back or planting evidence isn't a 'little wrong move'. This type of forgiveness and lack of responsibility for people who should be held to a higher standard is the whole reason you have ACAB and Defund the police.

    • @black1582
      @black1582 3 года назад +1

      Tim Popik Yeah I think private forces would’ve done better with that job. No one inside capital was ever in real danger and they knew it. They didn’t have to shoot that woman but they did, because they thought they could get away with it. Private forces probably would not believe the same thing. They would worry about financial liability, and criminal prosecution, for such actions. Private forces, if done the right way, should answer to citizens committees, or to citizens directly, which is now possible thanks to computers and the Internet.The problem is the police now answer exclusively to the government and the government tells him to do whatever the hell you please we’re above the law. Not only is that not true and unconstitutional and illegal, it’s created a situation where supposed police forces, that are supposed to protect and serve, are now in a de facto war with the citizenry.

    I am not in favor of defunding police. That is not wise or practical. I am in favor of a strict vetting process for prospective police officers. It should be more difficult to become a policeman or policewoman (longer training period, in depth psychological tests and background checks). Also the police union needs to allow problem officers to be disciplined or dismissed for misconduct. The purpose of a union is to negotiate the best pay and working conditions for their members, not to shield those who violate ethical lines. Policing should be treated as a profession, with professional standards of conduct. Officers with a pattern of abuse need to correct their behavior or be fired!

America’s police, in major metro areas across the nation, haven’t acted as police in decades, though in smaller cities, towns and in rural areas, where they’ve never had the kind of power that they’ve had in these major metros, they still act as police.
    In major metros the police have become militarized and act as a military enforcement squad for cities, counties, and corporations, at war with the American people. That’s not being police, that’s being an illegal army working to overthrow the legitimate “by the people, for the people,” nation, described in the constitution. The police are supposed to protect and serve citizens and work to enforce the law. Yet, in major metro’s across the country, the idea of the police acting in this way is a laugh and a half! Take a city like Los Angeles, The proliferator of swat teams and militarized police nationwide, and look at the crimes both the LAPD and the LASD have committed and been caught doing. They have people in their jails brutally raped daily, they have children in their juvenile halls brutally raped daily. They have gangs within their police departments, they’ve done everything from sell drugs to murder for hire work. The LASD even threaten an FBI agent, that they were going to make her disappear for conducting her investigation. It’s clear that the LASD, and often the LAPD, are comprised of the biggest criminals not only in the city, but on earth. Corrupted forces like that be abolished. Certainly. They must be replaced with real police forces, modeled off of the forces in Norway, or the UK, though the UK has problems as well, but considering they’ve killed as many in 100 years, as American police kill in one year, they are doing way better than American police.
    It’s clear that if we don’t have any police, crime is going to be out of control because the police aren’t the only criminals. However, if we don’t have ethical police that actually obey the law “out of control crime,”is going to be wearing a badge, and we can’t have that either. This idea that actually expecting police to follow the law, is somehow “anti-law enforcement,” is complete garbage, real law enforcement, follows the law. And I’m sure a lot of these officers that have spent their entire careers under qualified immunity, with no rules at all, are just going to have to go. And they should go without their pensions and retirements also, they don’t deserve them, they didn’t serve society, they preyed on it. And those that have committed horrific crimes should be hunted down and brought to justice, just like the Nazis, because their crimes are just as bad. The sun should never set on efforts to bring them to justice, it ought to happen no matter how old they live to be, and if they are dead, logs of their horrific crimes must be preserved, so that even in death these criminals are seen as the scum they are, and were, and the earth may be wiped of monsters that resort to those tactics. As it has been with the Nazis, so should it be with America’s criminal police, whose crimes are just as bad.
    And as far as qualified immunity goes, if the Supreme Court is unwilling to change it, then they all need to be removed and sentenced to life in prison because they’re violating the constitution rampantly and they know it, and they’re the ones that brought all this about, doing that. Congress should step in and if they are unwilling to, then they need to be in prison for life as well. Our nation is supposed to be a “by the people, for the people,” nation, but it’s now run by corporate shills for the corporation at the extreme expense of the American people. It is tyranny in the highest form, and the founders of this nation told us in the Declaration of Independence, that we the people not only have the right, but the duty, to free ourselves from that kind of tyranny.
    Again, our government now serves the corporations, not the American people. And that’s going to change, one way or another. Hopefully the people can once again gain control of our nation peacefully, through getting elected to office. But I seriously doubt it. The corporations are going to kill Americans who try this. They’re not about to let this country be run lawfully again. President Trump says they stole the election from him, and even he’s been effectively silenced. If trumps lying he needs to be in jail, because even the appearance that he’s telling the truth about this and has been silenced illegally endangers national security. And trump being effectively silenced certainly seems to prove that the corporations can silence anyone, even a president, even when he’s telling the truth, and has had the elections stolen from him. Due to this, I think the country is going to explode into revolution. I don’t welcome it, but I fear that it’s already begun. Having every politician take bribes from corporations, and serve them rather than their constituents, under the guise of “campaign contributions,” is what’s brought this about. And it may very well end the nation. God help us all.

      I don't think racist cops are worse or the same as Nazi's. I do agree that cops need to be held accountable But if you make cops the bad guys that's all you're going to have.

    What???? But they asked the criminals so nicely not to commit crime?!?
    Who would have guessed that when you support the criminals and violent and repeat offenders and defund police and constantly ridicule them when they deal with these thugs....crime would rise. 🤷‍♀️

    Aloha where did you get these numbers and how do you know that 10% who left is because of defunding. They could have been retiring. Anyone could use numbers to say that because a certain number of police leave does not mean their leaving because of defunding. Get the facts on these alleged statistics. And were in the same country just because we don't agree does not make anyone stupid. It just makes some of us in the real world and some in Trump world. There should be community policing only. Live here work here.
