To clarify: this type of content won't be replacing my covers! I'll be working on and uploading covers just as much as I always have. These video essays will simply be an additional type of content on my channel - the music isn't going anywhere!
I think the wooded kingdom is also based off California, with the huge trees and iron structures potentially referencing the Californian industrial revolution, and the flowers. The mountains do look like the Alps but could also show the Californian mountains
This video was amazing. As a music major I can tell you really know your stuff. I'd like to add that the Wooded Kingdom also has drum & bass and 60s soul/r&b like Booker T & the MGs style. That organ solo is straight up Booker T.
I think that the Wooded Kingdom theme isn’t connected by geography, but rather by time. In my mind, Steam Gardens has a mid-century modern aesthetic, with an air of the envisioned industrialized future. It may be that the theme’s 60’s styling overlaps with the end of mid-century architecture. Not only that, but its highly rhythmic nature could reflect the precise motions of the machines monitoring the area, and the heavy use of distorted electric instruments could emphasize the robot caretakers as well. Great video, I love the style.
Very high quality vid! I wasn’t expecting this level of quality from such a small youtuber. You’re definitely going places and you earned my subscribe.
Honestly, I probably could have mentioned how the Cascade Kingdom's song is reminiscent of John William's classic orchestral score for Jurassic Park, I think there's definitely a connection there!
Hmmm, interesting thought, there definitely could be a connection there! The idea of a "lost island" certainly fits with the mysterious nature of the Bermuda Triangle.
Thank you so much, glad you like!! I'll definitely be posting more content like this sometime in the future! As for the other comment, I missed it at first because it somehow got filtered as spam, but I've replied now.
amazing video, really high quality research ! in terms of the music from cascade kingdom, p sure the bold, orchestral feel is inspired from the jurassic park theme, even the main motif has hints ;)
I don't know who Fearsome Fire is... But man I'm glad they brought people to your channel, cause I love your work and you deserve the recognition, views, and subs! Keep up the great work!
And this was very informational! I look forward to watching more. I was excited to hear you analyze the Wooded Kingdom. That's one of my favorite songs in the game! But then you said Koji Kondo composed it and it all made sense why I loved it so much. Ha
Thank you so much! I appreciate the support. Glad you liked the video my friend! The Wooded Kingdom is such an awesome theme, Kondo's still got it for sure!
pixeltea You’re welcome man! I had no idea there was so much I could learn about this great game! This gave me a whole new appreciation for it! :) Awesome! Looking forward to it!
Great video, lots of respect and research given to each culture. I have one nitpick though: accordion is not really a feature of ‘Mariachi’ music, rather of ‘Norteño’ music. Both are lumped into the “regional Mexican” umbrella, but have very different instrumentations and histories. I recommend this video for a quick rundown! ruclips.net/video/hbo-myyzXWk/видео.html
I somewhat disagree with the statement that the steam Gardens theme doesn't match the area? It feels very evocative of 60's/70's scifi shows, which the area defenitely matches what with the presence of Torkdrift (which itself has connections to the moon Kingdom!) and the hard-ish scifi aesthetic of architecture which was somewhat popular at the time, and, especially with the gardenners themselves, as a general resemblance to the 70's scifi movie Silent Runnings, in terms of aesthetics-though all of this is mostly guesswork on my part. In regards to the alps, it defenitely feels to me like it l's based on that area more than anything else (at least from my own visits to the real world area), and feels pretty familiar in that regard. I would say that the architecture somewhat reminds me of ski lifts and other high mountain infrastructure, but thst might be my imagination stretching the resemblance?
Couldn't the Wooded kingdom relate to Sweden/Norway with their huge amount of trees. Definitely the under and darker part of this kingdom could relate to these Scandinavian counties. +1 sub
I love how you butchered some of the pronunciation of the gamelan /gah-muh-lahn/ instrument names... Here's a better approximation: - Bonang /bow-nahng/ - Gender is correct - Suling is correct - Ceng-ceng /chang-chang/ - Kendang /kuhn-dahng/ - Wayang is technically not a musical instrument, but a better way to pronounce it is /wah-yahng/ Pro tip: Indonesian is easy to pick up but hard to master. Every letter always represents the same sound, except for the following: "A" is always /ah/ as in father; "C" is always /ch/ as in "chair"; "E" can be /a/ as in "apple" or /uh/ as in "duh", "Sy" is /sh/ as in "shadow", and "Kh" is /ch/ as in "loch".

The Cascade Kingdom is based on a location.
Jurassic Park XD
Honestly, I probably could have mentioned how the Cascade Kingdom's song is reminiscent of John William's classic orchestral score for Jurassic Park, I think there's definitely a connection there!
@@superpixeltea I thought that they had a connection for a while, with similar instruments and aesthetics
I think the lost kingdom is based more on the Bermuda Triangle with the aviator suit you can buy there and the "sea of death" surrounding it.
Hmmm, interesting thought, there definitely could be a connection there! The idea of a "lost island" certainly fits with the mysterious nature of the Bermuda Triangle.
VOICE REVEAL!!!
