As an SF6/Strive era fighting game convert, I did not fully understand how different the genre was back in the day until I played this 😂 the first time my character went off-screen because the other dude was flying around it was like I was an infant child again
Watching new people place this is so funny and hard to watch but I hope the new players take the time to get into it and don't get discouraged after playing a few sessions online.
They will get discouraged, and unfortunately, without crossplay this game will be mostly dead in a few months, aside from all the veterans who will likely migrate back to fightcade when the novelty of the collection wears off.

Honestly I bought theses games and I was like... how do I even combo in this game? I tought it was like an anime game with gatling but it is not... I looked the recent justin guide but it felt like it was too advanced for me, didnt really give me much insight how to begin playing the game. Only some smaller channels were explaning about the magic sequence, I found later an Jmcrofts video that had some beginners tips, but I have to say... this game is quite an undertaking and I feel like there is not enough beginner friendly content...
I mean, it does have ”Gatling”, because Gatling is just the GG term for chain combos, and old Marvel games have chain combos. It even has its own in-game term for it: ”Magic Series”, but it’s still the same thing. Old Marvel games just don’t have built in long juggle systems; it’s not what they were designed for. They are designed to have blazing fast neutral (especially MvC 1 & 2), but not superlong combos. You can still finagle out long combos with some characters (and in XvsSF with all characters lol)m but it’s not the norm, and not the focus like it is in modern fighting games.
@@Jin-lp5ltI personally never called Marvel an anime fighting game because the pushback and hit stun are the same as most classic Capcom titles like Street Fighter and Darkstalkers. Back in the day we considered anime/doujin fighters games that usually had a more simplistic approach to physics and nearly super mashy buttons/chains. But chain combos themselves weren't exclusive to anime/doujin fighters. MVC1 and 2 were closer to Capcom and SNK design than Guilty Gear or stuff like Melty Blood.
75% of your losses are due to your block game. You've got some solid combos and a great grounding... so much of MvC2 in particular is learning the flow of when to attack, when to block, when to spam assists, when to punish. It just takes practice and many, many losses. Don't be discouraged. You're already doing way, way, way better than most new players to MvC2.
Played a team of Guile/Gambit/Cyclops and got destroyed online. Said Screw it and Play Amingo/Silver Samurai/Cyclops and thought i was getting good until a Sentinel/Iron man fought me. I got omega destroyed but i won 2 games realizing my opponents assist call patterns and using amingo and S.Samurai DHC supers, game is fun just have to get used to it
As a punish, you can just launch and do an air combo with sentinel. Or you can use Cyclops, assist and then jump up and do an air combo. Pretty much same of storm

You pick 3 of the best 8 characters in the game and win after practicing ToD combos and infinites with the best assist choices. That's how you win, unfortunately. you can play the other 90% of characters, but they are legitimately trash and have 0 reason to really be picked unless you wanna give your opponent a handicap. Sad.
i much prefer 2 for the same reason, i think it’s cool things get reset to neutral more. though idk the actual stats when you factor in all the infinites actually lol
