Love how Light is displayed in 1st opening as someone that got bestowed with (un)godly power to be the next savior of this world full of evil...but in the 2nd opening he's portrayed as someone that got too drunk from the power he got to the point he became mad and started risking everything just to outsmart people trying to capture him and be "above" them.
I don't even think Death Note has the greatest animation in the world. It's HOW the animation was used. The use of color, the detailed expression, the lightning, the cinamatagraphy, etc.
0:57 Genuinely one of my favourite shots in an anime opening. The way it zooms into both Light and L as they stand off in a tunnel, I don't know why that shot is so awesome to me
there’s something about dimly lit concrete rooms that just resonates in my soul, i have no idea what it is lol The Dark Knight and Fate/ Zero’s final fight gave me the same vibes

I love the part at 1:02 'til the end so much. The melody, Misa looking at Light, him reaching out to her, and finally... Light being 'painted' as a god somehow. Everything about it is so perfect
Man this opening is perfect. I get goosebumps every time it shows Misa looking so lost and sees Light who offers her assistance and she reaches for his hand but you can’t see his face but only his smile.

A beginning of a new day, something interesting to look forward to. 00:07 - Obviously based on Creation of Adam, but instead, the gift is power of the Death Note, the apple of temptation. 00:11 - L and Kira standing on top of the buildings, a game of high stakes. 00:13 - The crown of thorns, Kira's resolve in becoming a martyr to create a better world. 00:27 - Kira holds the apple as he walks a tight rope, walking a treacherous path where he can fall with the smallest error. Will he be able to uphold his own moral code? 00:34 - A flight of doves behind Kira. Doves carry important symbolisms in the christian faith. Yet why is there a red shadow behind Kira? That's the shadow, the dark intent that lay behind good intentions. 00:35 - The same intent that saves Misa, as she looks up to the sky, seeing her new "God" 00:40 - Obvious symbolism of Kira giving into the temptation. 00:43 - The investigation team looks in different directions, except for the chief. Confused, unorganized. 00:47 - La Pieta 00:49 - A juxtaposition of the investigation team, the shinigami instead watch with perverse amusement over what's happening in the world. 00:52 - Kira's psyche eventually shatters, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Also the fact that only the two of them are represented in the shot shows that while there are many people involved on the conflict, like the police and misa, it's Light and L that are the only ones capable of fighting this conflict, shown as how most of the actions that the characters take are orders that come from the two characters, almost like puppets. pretty cool opening, sorry if my explanation was vague
For anyone wondering, if you noticed in the show, or the intro, that some people have red hair and eyes and some have blue, it shows what side they’re on. For an example, red means they are one Kira’s side (the killer), and blue is L’s side (the hero aka the detective).

My dad was actually the one who recommended for me to watch Death Note since he’s watched a lot of anime’s that we both enjoy, so I’m absolutely in love with this series and everything about it, I gotta thank him fr
I love how they depict Light in the intro Not to mention the slight Adam Eve symbolism, and how he is walking on a narrow path that he could easily fall and die from. But at the same time he is depicted as unreachable, unattainable, emotionless, and god like (hence his whole Kira thing)
@@Marko728 I think the problem is Light's heart wasn't in the second half. We spend so much time with light in the first half of the show directly only for it to shift away from him and his actions. It doesn't really feel like light's head was in the game against near and mello which makes their victory feel less interesting or less fulfilling. Furthermore Light's setup post the time skip makes no sense. There is no reason he would run the investigation out of his apartment for 5 years and also no non contrived way that the detectives would follow him for 5 years of zero progress. We see the detectives faith waver with L multiple times in what was a 6 month period with massive leaps and bounds, there is no way that light could keep the same team together with negative progress for 10 times as long and no money. There also really isn't a reason he would want to as they prove to be a massive liability and weakness for him at every turn.
Is that a metaphor, because that seems impossible, not extremely difficult, but impossible to pull off, you wouldn't have enough energy to possibly dance/listen to it 1,000,000 times.
i envy people that haven’t seen death note i wish i could just forget this anime and watch it again For people that haven’t seen it you should because it blows your mind but i don’t recommend you starting with this anime because is so good that you will try to search something good quality as this
This was the first Anime series I ever saw on Toonami when I was a kid. It’s definitely one of the best anime of all time and this opening is still a banger.
the fact that after so many years since 2006 I don't have lessen to a better opening for an anime.Yeah the music at death note I think is the best music that I have ever see in a anime. The whole death note has so interesting story that even people who don't like anime say that it's a masterpiece.I also like the fact that in 1:10 we see light as a God like figure and in the second opening we see him go insane becauseof the power he had, also we see that Misa really loved him, and Kira(not yagami) just manipulated her... Plus the song "The world"matches pretty good with the whole anime.
I liked Death note for the first half but after L died and Near took over everything kind of went downhill and don’t even make me talk about how light died to a kid💀
Finally getting into this show and I cannot get over that last shot near the end with Light drawn in a style reminiscent of both the anime medium of the show as well as the style of old biblical paintings, his pose like that of a benevolent deity. It really demonstrates how he sees himself as a righteous god of a new world while simultaneously also showing that he’s doomed to fail to fit the standards he’s setting for himself via the genius inclusion of what looks like an actual, traditional biblical painting in the background, contrasting his own hybrid artstyle in a way that makes it clear he is, to a degree, never going to live up to this grand legacy he foresees for himself. It really does take a stroke of genius to make something so profound yet readable that it gets even an idiot like me to wax poetic like he’s fiending for a philosophy degree lmao
What do you mean by that? I think the religious imagery symbolizes light's redemption when he obtained the notebook from Ryuk and how Light basically created the "God" imagery from himself when Ryuk handed him the notebook so simply, the picture shows the creation of a "God" when he seized the notebook from Ryuk (The first image) . The ending image shows Light's egotistical self thinking that he's the only god/messiah who can change the world.
Still the best anime rivalry to date and the most healthy balance between though-provoking content mixed in with gratification. The best way to get anyone into anime.
Death Note (In the world of anime) and Suits (In the world of Netflix series) is proof that you don't necessarily need action to make people entertained. The action here is based dialogue and intellect

pretty cool opening, sorry if my explanation was vague
I never skips opening while watching an anime no matter how many episode I watch I never skip opening
And that is the right decision 👌😎😍 . I'm like you too . Keep it up man 💪😎😍😘
Me too man it's good to know you are not the only one who do that
Ok
I literally cried at the end. Poor Misa she halved her life twice just to stay with Kira, at the end she remained alone, that a sad ending for her
For anyone wondering, if you noticed in the show, or the intro, that some people have red hair and eyes and some have blue, it shows what side they’re on. For an example, red means they are one Kira’s side (the killer), and blue is L’s side (the hero aka the detective).
Wrong, considering Misa is displayed with blue hair, yet she is the lover of Light (Kira)
@@nice3205 it's actually black
Which means she was confused and sad (represented by black)
@@nice3205 misa at multiple points in the story forgot about being the second kira by giving up her notebook if I remember correctly, it might symbolise that but that's just a strawman on my part
i'm sorry, but i couldn't actually get any example of it by watching the intro except by L and kira themselves
Lol. at 0:35 sec you can clearly see misa's hair is blue. but she's on light's side. stop spreading bs.
This is truly 2000s gen for us
Just started watching it last year and ended up loving every crap of it. One of the greatest animes ever.

literally true though. Light and L were two geniuses who had different answers on what "justice" is. Whether to operate within the bounds of what is societally acceptable or outside.

My dad was actually the one who recommended for me to watch Death Note since he’s watched a lot of anime’s that we both enjoy, so I’m absolutely in love with this series and everything about it, I gotta thank him fr
Same bro
Thanks Peter for getting the death note and making me come back to this banger
I love how they depict Light in the intro
Not to mention the slight Adam Eve symbolism, and how he is walking on a narrow path that he could easily fall and die from. But at the same time he is depicted as unreachable, unattainable, emotionless, and god like (hence his whole Kira thing)
Death Note is a Masterpiece, Peak Anime. Never will there be an Anime like Death Note.
I love how Light is calm collected and dark in ths opening... chills
Wish I could see this anime again for the first time,so many emotions,I liked it so much at the point to rush it in one week!❤📓
same but after Ls death it became boring
@@jeybrooks i dont agree, most people say that, and then even more people get influenced by that, but i thought it was really good
@@RodasTheCreator it was rushed, but it wasnt boring
Same, binged through it in an instant, it was that addictive
Nothing ever comes close to this masterpiece of an anime! God I wish I could watch its equal again!

@Chiggyboo bro didnt even see the lolz in my acc ( joke ).
It's amazing, but I wonder, how would you listen to it 1 million times?
Is that a metaphor, because that seems impossible, not extremely difficult, but impossible to pull off, you wouldn't have enough energy to possibly dance/listen to it 1,000,000 times.
I love this intro, might be my favorite anime opening
I only bought VPN to be able to finally watch Death Note. No regrets absolutely worth it.

For people that haven’t seen it you should because it blows your mind but i don’t recommend you starting with this anime because is so good that you will try to search something good quality as this
This was the first Anime series I ever saw on Toonami when I was a kid. It’s definitely one of the best anime of all time and this opening is still a banger.
Year and age.
2007/17 first time. Thought it was a Halloween special series for the mo th.
A pure masterpiece
0:46 esa escena me encanto la mujer sosteniendo a al hombre como si estuviera esperando su venganza
the fact that after so many years since 2006 I don't have lessen to a better opening for an anime.Yeah the music at death note I think is the best music that I have ever see in a anime.
One of the best openings ever for one of the best anime/manga series ever
I liked Death note for the first half but after L died and Near took over everything kind of went downhill and don’t even make me talk about how light died to a kid💀
It had been 6 years since i watched this anime...time does fly away
one of the most iconic and best written animes ever
It really does take a stroke of genius to make something so profound yet readable that it gets even an idiot like me to wax poetic like he’s fiending for a philosophy degree lmao
uno de mis openings de anime favoritos de todos los tiempos... la canción completa es todavía mejor
The nostalgia.. I didn't notice how artistic the opening was. I definilty knew it was, but just never paid attention to it, only to the song lol.
Why's the opening autistic?
It was perfect. Perfect. Everything down to the last minute details

No, it's because Ryuk Like the humans apple (apple of human world)
Watching deathnote for the first time and its literally life changingg
thank you so much to the dude who created this show
the religious imagery is unparalleled
What do you mean by that?
I think the religious imagery symbolizes light's redemption when he obtained the notebook from Ryuk and how Light basically created the "God" imagery from himself when Ryuk handed him the notebook so simply, the picture shows the creation of a "God" when he seized the notebook from Ryuk (The first image) . The ending image shows Light's egotistical self thinking that he's the only god/messiah who can change the world.

As a buffalo who was given internet access, I can confirm this is the best anime of all time.
