This is an updated version from our 2018 History of Total War (you can tell because I look about a decade younger lmao).
But since they'd released so many new games, and I am so excited for Total War: Warhammer 3, there was much more history to talk about!
If you want to jump around the video to your favourite game, here are some time-stamps
0:00 - Intro & history of Creative Assembly
    1:25 - Shogun: Total War

My brother and I convinced my mom to buy us Shogun: Total War way back in the day based on one simple fact. My mother, being a religious woman, didn't want us playing games on Sundays, unless it had some sort of educational value. The historical credentials of Shogun made it a no brainer, and we've been fans ever since. Never had a history class that was difficult until college, mostly because of Total War and Age of Empires.

I think it's time to move forward, past the 19th century. I want to see the First World War represented barring that WW2. No more swords, spears, and muskets for me. I've played all those games and there great, but I want something new, not more Troy, Rome or Warhammer no more going back to ancient times. A new time period never covered. When Warhammer 3 came out, I cried. This studio has something really special and I will be keeping a close eye on their future titles. I hope they use Warhammer 3 as a testing grounds for new mechanics for their next games. One thing I would love to see is an updated version of their naval battles. I think I read somewhere they aren't allowed to have them for their Warhammer titles which is a shame, but I'd love me some naval battles. Perhaps a Pirates of the Carribean like title following mythical sea tales of piracy throughout the entire world. Just spit-balling. Either way, Im excited for what they make next.

I also love Rome 2 and a third installment would be great just so they can incorporate the new tech and all that they've learned since the previous release. But my BIGGEST hope is that now that they have proven their ability to handle beloved fictional IP with the due diligence and respect of the fans, to see a TW that spans an entire galaxy far, far away! To trade naval battles for space, a campaign map that is truly 3-dimensional, and ground combat that can have heroes wielding lightsabers alongside blaster shooting rank and file would be amazing!

Three Kingdoms Total War was perhaps the last total war game to be more historical authentic(Because The Romance of the 3 Kingdoms fictional novel was also based on historical Records as well), everything else will be either half history or full fantasy. I doubt CA will ever make Medieval 3. Now, I would rather prefer them to make a Sci Fi Total War game inspired by Alpha Centauri and Civilisation Beyond Earth game by Feraxis.

I'd love to see a 15th-16th century shot and pike era, having a mix of both viable melee and archery units being challenged but the ever growing and evolving firearm, having the slow progression from handguns(mini cannon on a stick) and Arquebus being held up by the little fork stands, some nations having spear like ends for melee combat all the way up to well proper muskets and bayonets, with archers being more nimble and probably hunters can move and have vanguard deployment and musketeers having more damage/armor pen, but are slower and cause blinding smoke from prolonged fighting.

This is a great video, but it does skip over some of the Sega/CA antics that caused issues with earlier games. Stuff like making some multiplayer units exclusive to buying the game from a specific brick and mortar store (TW Napoleon) and putting redshell (essentially spyware) into Warhammer early on. Those things are no longer issues thankfully. :)

i would love to see a sequel to medieval... there is so much that happened in that time period and with their current tech it can be amazing. Also as a goal going into a ww1 type of total war. With gameplay testing and research im sure they could do it, trench building, tanks, biplanes, zepelins, naval warfare ect.... It could be done but its a massive undertaking since there are alot of things that would be new for a total war game.

    1. What about Rome Remastered by Feral, Sir?
    2. This material lacks a segment about forfeiting mechanichs used in previous editions/titles. And I see it as a big-big no-no. Mechanichs like the Avatar conquest mode from Shogun2 for example. Not reappearing in any newer Total War title. That's a lot information skipped as a result. Avatars Conquest mode is was a huge experimental step itself.
Other that come to my mind:
Family tree that at first place wasn't intended to Rome2.
Abandoning Family tree element met with huge controversy. So much that CA decided to add it afterall.
Population transfer into soldiers - abandoned after Rome1
Naval Battles abandoned after Thrones of Britannia I think.
Rock-paper-scissors base mechanic slowly being abandoned after Shogun2
Gun mechanics - totally abandoned after Shogun2 (not even appearing in Warhammers empire-gunners unit)
Diplomacy practisses performed by sending an agent abandoned after Medieval 2 towards "¿satellite?-kinda form.
2 Difrent armies composed of totally difrent units from different games - appeared only in Shogun2 and Fall of the Samurai. - the idea so great, I'd even state pure gold for the franchise - got abandoned too.
Serious sieges brought to Warhammer series only with WH3. Some see this as a big improvement, some find it as an essentially remarketed and sold for higher price feature - reinvented aspect of the gameplay that hasn't been improved since Rome1.
All of those were evolution or devolution across the Total War history.
Remake of Rome1 was an acklowledgement of that I think. As it is still completely diffrent from Rome2.
A fundamental Conclusion: This video misses a huge aspect of TWs history. A segment dedicated to these changes would be big "+" in my honest opinon.

Oddly enough grade 10 onwards my grades improved dramatically. I'm not sure how much I can attribute it to Rome 1 but something in this game "clicked", I had played RTS' before, but that doesn't compare to the amount of management needed for the scale of total war (at the time at least, prior to the competitors).

I’d like to see an Empire2 or Victoria Age. Late late game having navies like shogun2, naval bombardment and amphibious assaults on ports. Increased power of forts to create areas of attrition and being so advantageous that attacker needs treachery, politics, huge superiority or build trenches while besieging for many turns, increasing the possibility of a relief army coming.
Separate units into professional armies led by generals and weaker militia units confined to regions with governors.
Make more trade regions and increase the threat of piracy or unhappy units or regions turning pirate.
Increase the significance of logistics, armies must have supply lines, or steal food, ammo, horses for various public order or diplomatic penalties. Big warships must use press gangs to keep crew levels up.
For all TW games, discourage corner camping by making a perimeter zone that stationary units placed inside will suffer morale penalties or slowly have men desert. General are immune and maybe even draw peasants to build barricades if the attacker doesn’t attack.

At this point i believe is going to probably be announce the next year or at the end of this one, because of the massive profits and also a good opening to new warfare eras. Speciall because if they manage to pull a solid 40k, there is litttle to no reasson why a WW1 and WW2 total war shouldn't happen.

The irony about this video title is that CA doesnt care about history anymore, and has completly abandoned that part of the fanbase with poorly executed titles like Rome 2 (which is still a mess after 5y of bugfixing), Brittania and Three Kingdoms (where the historical option is extremely feature ridden).
I have no problem with Warhammer titles, they just dont interest me. All I wish is that CA would actually put the same amount of effort in historical titles. Shogun 2 was the last real historical gem.
