I remember when I first played San Andreas after playing the shit out of Vice City my eyes were so weird for the first few days because the gap in Graphics Quality was insane.
I never managed to get into it. I don't know, it looked dated from the box and the controls were janky. The aesthetics of Vice City just feels timeless, even on the really low graphics PS2 version.

I'm still mad at Rockstar for instead of making amazing games, they just focus on Online for years and years and years. They did make Red Dead Redemption 2 though. I'll give them that.
The fact that 90% of this list of games came out in one decade and GTA 5 is about to go on for the same amount of time just on it's own is very depressing.

@@sofatos402 I don't think so, only good characters of GTA V are the main 3 characters, Lester and Lamar, some are ok, and rest are nothing but jokes, even the main antagonist is a joke. I was 7 years old back in 2007. My cousin who was 16 then brought me to a place with computers where you give a dollar for an hour and use and play any game you want. I sat down and turned on a computer for the first time in my life. My cousin told me there were 10 games and asked me which one I want to try. I looked at the desktop and the one game I noticed immediately out of the 10 icons was the game- GTA San Andreas. So I clicked at the epic CJ icon, Rockstar Games logo shows up and I swear to God i felt that this is going to be something very different thing which will change my life. Game started I was watching the C.R.A.S.H scene and already falling in love with this game. CJ start walking in the alley, stops by the bike and game begins. I started walking to the bike and pressed enter. This very moment was a huge turning point in my life. After that i gave ton of money on playing gta sa all day long every single day. Brought PS3, PS4 , played every other Gta and Rdr game and became a huge Rockstar Games fan. GTA San Andreas was the beginning of being a fan of video games for long years. Grove street 4 life!
GTA v online pisses me off, because of how much money rockstar makes off of it, they scrapped the story based dlc that was originally planned for the game.
GTA games have shaped the minds of a generation ( it can be good or a bad thing too, we know how mind of mass shooter thinks.) The influence of this game is really massive. Vice City, San Andreas and GTA IV, V boy this was one hell of a ride. Gta 6 better be good.

I remember playing GTA III for the first time as a kid and was mindblown. I didn't even have a proper computer that could handle it. I think I was playing at 5FPS and still loving it. Played most of the game like that, until I got a proper computer a year later.
GTA 3. The one that started it all for me, and my dad as well. He would stay up late playing it. And I would come home from school, open a bag of BBQ chips and just cause mayhem. I never did a mission. So that first sequence of 8 Ball saying “Head to the red light district so we can lay low, but my hands are all messed up” is engrained in me. I am very excited for the remasters. Even despite Rockstars recent reputation and the team behind the remasters. I can’t help but feel nostalgic and ready to play through them again.
It’s crazy that between 2001-2004 Rockstar released three legendary titles. It’s been 8 years now since GTA V released and we haven’t heard any news whatsoever about a new release. I guess them micro-transaction profits really de-motivate developers to create quality games.

The future of Rockstar needs Strauss Zelnick fired
His replacement would be just as greedy
@@jeremy7758 yeah, they'll only want someone to step into his shoes and walk the same direction. Not sure what Rockstar can do. I think it's too late for them to ever be what they were. That being said the remasters do look good
@@AISlopTheatre red dead redemption is trapped with redemption tales, gta is basically crime dramas. I do agree it's like BMW they all have the same kidney grills but different bodies and features
@@jeremy7758 After GTA6 fails because of no single player campaign and instead focusing on online and fucking shark cards his replacement will probably rethink shit
@@Stoagie_Lemincelli Or maybe apply the loot box/MTX bill in Belgium to the other countries.
Man just seeing this games history fly by like that is just amazing. While I still wish to see GTA 6 , still can't help but be amazed on how much evolving this series has over the last couple decades. ( I feel very old saying that GTA is nearly 25 years old lol ) My favorite game series of all time. Hope to see GTA 5 and both red dead redemption games remastered . Need all these games at 60 fps on PS5 4k 60 if needed lol. It's a new gen , hopefully eventually, we'll get a sneak peak at the next most groundbreaking game of all time GTA 6 lol I'm really hoping we get it in the next couple of years . Hard to believe the Howser brothers went through this much crap just to get their series where it is today. Politicians are just a bunch of A***oles man. Those Remasters for GTA Trilogy Definitive edition are actually looking damn good . Might actually get it day one
Too bad GTA6 is gomna be dogshit
@@brycebirkinbine4119 bruh have you not seen Red Dead Redemption 2? Lol how's it gonna be dogshit ?
@@thehunter7422 Almost like Dan and Leslie are gone and nobody should have any faith in Strauss Zelnick's leadership.
GTA6 will just be GTA Online 2 and if that is the case, the game deserves to have fhe worst possible launch possible for alienating the actual GTA fans who have played since fhe PS2 era.
People who buy Shark Cards are part of the problem.
@@brycebirkinbine4119 who's to say Dan didn't help work on the instalment for GTA 6 ? Its been over 8 years since GTA 5 and I believe he helped make the story for Red Dead Redemption 2. He probably isn't helping gameplay wise but I'm pretty they said about having a bunch of story plans already ready for alot of game ideas. Hopefully that was correct lol there's some worries sure but hopefully it's gotta be good.
Plus Sam Houser is still there too
Amazing review on the series! GTA 4 is my favorite, then San Andreas and Vice City
Vice City was my gateway drug to PC gaming. I love it!
Crazy to think my small city in Scotland created this amazing franchise and what its grown into!
Excellent video Lucy and Richard! Keep them coming!
Richard? Who is Richard?
I remember when I first played San Andreas after playing the shit out of Vice City my eyes were so weird for the first few days because the gap in Graphics Quality was insane.
I never managed to get into it.
I don't know, it looked dated from the box and the controls were janky.
The aesthetics of Vice City just feels timeless, even on the really low graphics PS2 version.
@@JonatasAdoM Are you going to try the remaster in the GTA trilogy next week?
San Andreas was really the best
Thanks Lucy! Great documentary. And may I just say that GTA 2 is my favorite game of all time❤️
The trilogy remastered looks really good and can't wait to play it with updated controls
Technically, it's more of a remake than a remaster. Either way, I'm also looking forward to it.
The Grand theft auto series is my favorite video game series of all time and the reason I fell in love with video games in the first place ❤️
This was actually a really nice short documentary...
I personally know two of the Take2 founders. Such an amazing story.
I think you're forgetting that all of the custom online game modes and roleplay servers aren't coming from Rockstar themselves but from the open source community of modders.
I'm still mad at Rockstar for instead of making amazing games, they just focus on Online for years and years and years. They did make Red Dead Redemption 2 though. I'll give them that.
it’s mostly the fault of take two… but yea, R* should’ve parted ways with them long ago
@@suwooshi Agreed. I don’t think Rockstar really has much of a choice in the matter
You contradict the first half of your comment with the second half.
"Instead of making amazing games they just focus on gta online"
"They did make RDR2 though"
What?
@@psychomantis8007 Like I said to the other guy, one game and i'm not really into it.
The fact that 90% of this list of games came out in one decade and GTA 5 is about to go on for the same amount of time just on it's own is very depressing.
blame it on the gamers that keep buying remasters and remakes... maybe technology wasnt so advanced for a gta6 but i fear leftist politics would ruin the game
@@flowrepins6663 "leftist politics" lol, you clown.
It's crazy how far gta came in terms of storyline, gameplay, and graphics!!!
I used to first play vice city at my dads friends house cause his son had it, then in like 2005 or 2006 my dad got me the gta 3/vice city double pack for xbox. still the best gift ever. Wish i still had it
Good documentary and I cant wait for the original Trilogy being remasterd and brought out on 11th November.for me I loved Vice City and San Andreas the most and wasnt that keen on GTA 5 felt over use of f word was done on purpose and didn't quite have the saw magic as previous games
GTA 3 is the one that blew my mind as a kid, Vice City is nostalgic and GTA San Andreas is the one I will never forget, countless hours on that game ❤
As an adult I still say adults and politicians are worthless. lmao
I smiled when GTA SA's intro started..
Such a special game in so many of our lives..
I was in the Marines from 2001 - 2005 and never beat these games. I missed out on them at the time and never got a chance to play them. I will definitely buy the remasters and beat them this time.
It's never too late, I'm playing GTA 3 for the first time
@@jorgemerino4268 I played GTA SA the first time in 2020.
Would love to see GTA IV given a remaster as it had a great story & characters, much better than its sequel in my opinion, would be cool if they fixed the floaty cars & made them more responsive like in V.
I love GTA IV so much more than 5, the realism and grittiness of it is unrivaled. I found it so immersive
Let the floaty cars, the only things they need to fix is the graphics without affecting the dark atmosphere and make the game better for PC.
Yeah, story is slightly better but the charecters in GTAV are way better than GTAIV.
@@sofatos402 I don't think so, only good characters of GTA V are the main 3 characters, Lester and Lamar, some are ok, and rest are nothing but jokes, even the main antagonist is a joke. GTA IV characters were more serious, some had comedic timing, some had deep and dark story. The reason the game is so underrated is because was not great in PC like GTA V, San Andreas and Vice City.
Remember going to my cousins house back in 99 and playing GTA 2 on ps1. As a kid that game was just awesome to play. Really had you hooked in
Fantastic video Lucy!
Cooor Lucy I remember when you was on “ the blob” or what ever the hell the gaming show on dave was 🤣
I’m all for a remaster trilogy only because we won’t see GTA 6 for another 29 years.
Few things are as satisfying in gaming as skidding your car to run over all the Elvis impersonators and getting the “ elvis has left the building” bonus
I’m here after the GTA VI trailer lol
Old day’s 💔
I miss this 💔
26:05 - Hot Coffee mod came out 2005, the same year as RUclips. So it's plausible they'd be watching footage of the mod on RUclips
GTA v online pisses me off, because of how much money rockstar makes off of it, they scrapped the story based dlc that was originally planned for the game.
A rare, correct usage of “champing at the bit”. Well done, Lucy! 👏👏👏
It's one of the best videos on RUclips
Love these history of videos
GTA four wasn’t the greatest when it came to graphics but the story is one of the best in GTA in my opinion I love how all three connect
It was wonderful witnessing the history of one of the biggest games of all time! now that GTA 6 trailer is out i can't wait for how it will turn out
Rockstar really changed after they released gta 4
GTA games have shaped the minds of a generation ( it can be good or a bad thing too, we know how mind of mass shooter thinks.) The influence of this game is really massive. Vice City, San Andreas and GTA IV, V boy this was one hell of a ride. Gta 6 better be good.
My 2nd big brother RIP was the one who introduced me to my first GTA game it was: GRAND THEFT AUTO VICE CITY way back in 2002, since then it became my favorite along side with GTA3 and GTA San Andreas
I remember playing GTA III for the first time as a kid and was mindblown. I didn't even have a proper computer that could handle it. I think I was playing at 5FPS and still loving it. Played most of the game like that, until I got a proper computer a year later.
This series defined my childhood
Great video, lots of nostalgia! It's a shame they glossed over TBoGT as that expansion brought so much to gta 4
They also just announced GTA:SA VR.
11:37 that's an interesting point
Do they give out Oscars for voice acting?
GTA IV still has the best story out of all them

It’s crazy that between 2001-2004 Rockstar released three legendary titles. It’s been 8 years now since GTA V released and we haven’t heard any news whatsoever about a new release. I guess them micro-transaction profits really de-motivate developers to create quality games.
Girl u deserve the bell for this indept analysis, plus a tombs up, already a subscriber, nice job dear👍😘😍
Not normally moved to comment, but this was just superb

From GTA 1 onto GTA 5, what a jump !
I still remembered playing GTA 1/2 at a very young age, I didn’t know what the game was about, but I know I had to jack car, run around the city like a mad man. I remember I just loved how much freedom you have in this game. Totally loved it. They should release 2D version for GTA3, 4, 5
Chinatown wars is quality if you like the 2d ones. I used to love the 2d ones as a kid (especially London) and it brought me back.
Vice City, Grand theft auto III& V are my favorites hands down!!!
Remember trying GTA1 from a demo disc. Body Harvest for N64 is their first 3D open world though. They even concidered using the same engine in GTA3 before settling for Renderware.
You finally got your 2k like 👍.
I already know the history about GTA but I still wanted to WATCH this
It'd be really cool if GTA VI took place in 1960's London since it's one of the only locations that haven't been revisited and I love the games that take place in prior generations like 1990s LA, 1980s Miami or even LA Noir's post WW2 setting.
at this point, I doubt any GTA will be outside the US. it's become iconic that it's a hyperbole for american life
