It isn't so nice, when you are skinny shamed all your life, when people call you anorexic and tell you to eat while you probably eat way more than they ever will. All I want is to have a normal healthy weight. I have to eat a lot of protein to maintain my weight, if I forget to eat my eggs for like 2 days my weight drops. A little more muscle on my bones would be good for me. I don't like being underweight.

My husband will be 45 in a of couple months. Hasn't caught him yet. He eats bacon by the pack, donuts, chips, drinks soda, eats ice cream every night, etc... he has the worst diet I have ever seen and at 6'3" has never been over 175 lbs (79 kg), and he had to _work_ to get to that weight (muscle building exercise every day and adding weight gaining shakes into his diet; he basically can gain muscle but not fat). I don't drink sugary drinks, was vegetarian, don't eat fried foods because they make me sick, don't eat chips, can't eat ice cream, drink LOTS of water... I can't loose weight unless I completely cut out carbs and get lots of sleep, and I gain it back so easily.

I’m skinny I used to carry a little puppy fat on me but I became a vegetarian and I started fasting everyday. Now I eat what I want when I want and I never put on weight! I am skinny as hell! I eat until I’m full and then I don’t eat for another 24 hours or more. I fast it all off and that excess sugar, fat and carb is converted into fuel that keeps me full for that particular fasted period. I actually eat a fair bit of junk food. Lots of pizza, chips and ice cream! I drink lots of water to flush it out and I make sure to eat healthy meals containing vegetables once or twice a week. I don’t exercise. I eat sweats, biscuits, cakes, rolls, burgers, subways, you name it. Hell I even ordered vegan fish n chips and vegan mock sweet n sour chicken late last night. I’m still full from that as I write this. If you saw how skinny I am you wouldn’t believe I’d eat as much as I’ve stated. I typically detox by doing enemas (colon cleansing) or fast for an extended period.
I also check the state of my waste both liquids and solids, I assess the colour, density and smell then I make adjustments to my diet accordingly. If you fast for 12 hours or more a day, drink lots of water and stick to just one big meal a day, you can eat whatever you want and never gain weight! As I have proven.

I can testify my husband has less than 10% body fat for probably 20 plus years. He eats really really slowly and he stops eating as soon as he feels a little full. Anyone I know can eat easily 5x faster than him. If he doesn’t have good food to eat, he’d prefer skipping the meal altogether. People are thin for a reason.

Tbh, I think it’s cause they lie about how much they eat. They’ll be like “I eat so much” but when you watch them, they have the smallest portions and don’t even finish all of it. Sometimes they’ll just ‘forget’ to eat. Idk if they realize they’re lying or if they just have a weird definition of a lot.

I am very skinny and I think you are kinda true. I don't necessary lie about how much I eat but I do eat less food. I realized that I eat less food a few months ago and it was a total surprise for me. Also about forgetting to eat, I genuinely forget to eat when I am busy or just enjoying a certain activity. Also 'a lot' is definitely subjective.

If you eat healthier food for the most part you eat much larger qualities and more often. And if you eat a lot of fat (good fats like fish and eggs) you eat less and less often. My sister is always trying to loose weight and I am always thin and get back to my pre pregnancy weight within weeks not months and i eat so much that when she copied my diet (with smaller portions for herself) she gained weight while visiting for two weeks while i lost 6 lbs over that same time. Some definitely is predisposition but she was shocked by how much i actually eat.

ᄋᄉᄋ민린 hmm not entirely true. A lot of younger people have a “high metabolism” because there bodies still need to develop. That means your body requires more energy > faster burning > more fuel. So people often use the “high metabolism card” but after that peak you either unconsciously eat way less or move more: fidgeting, standing, walking, sports etc. There was also a study where they followed skinny “high metabolism people” and tracked what they ate. And yes on some days they will go far over their BMR and on some days they would be far below that. That way of eating doesn’t lead to weight gain.

Quork Since 1970, the adult obesity rate in the US has increased from around 15% to over 40%. Our genetics haven’t changed since 1970, it’s just that American food culture has changed to promote more and more gluttony (I use the US as an example but this is true for many other countries). It’s just really hard for people who have grown up with bad food habits to change those habits because they’re so ingrained :(

I’ve lost tons after I started the IF and honestly, I am glad that I don’t just look at how I look alone. Sure, it’s great to not gain weight but when you grow older, your health will definitely take a huge toll because in terms of your chance of getting diabetes, hypertension, heart disease for instance, we all have equal chance of getting them if you don’t watch what we eat and move, no matter how thin or fat you are. Your outer look shows how healthy or the truth of what’s going on inside you. Your acne or sudden skin tags might be a tell tale signs that you’re eating too much sugar, for instance. So guys, looks are not what we should aim for but we must try to be healthy.

It takes extra money to buy more food in order to gain weight, but it is always free to lose weight.

And you can do sport to make the process faster. Also free of charge. And you can gain muscle.

I thought I was always going to be that skinny person in the groups of friends, until recently. My eating habits and activities level drastically changed, forcing my mood, and motivation to go into chaos. So very quickly I no longer am able to maintain the thin factor. When I was thin and young, I was definitely much more active, life had many more things for me to participate in. Now, with the Pandemic as well to account for, we are staying home more. So if we eat and crave to eat the same way, we will gain a lot more fat because it's just simple math. Being a very self aware person and being even more aware of how foods make me feel, really helps motivate me, and give me something realistic to work with to ultimately sustain health.
So if I slack off on my awareness of being comfortable and having enough is enough discipline, to give in to my temptations too often, has made my body store more fat reserves.
I'm naturally predisposed to being lean, so I don't need much fat, so why am I letting my self continue having anything I want at anytime?
Attitude. From yourself and from people around you who enable to by compliments about your lean and attractive body image, while neglecting the facts that it will all crash one day. So you think you're invincible. These people who pay you compliments are not interested in your well being. They only care about how you look. You give them something attractive to compliment and make themselves feel better inside themselves.
A lot of us don't really know how healthy or sick we are until an emergency. There is no moderating. There is only excess and extremes today. Excess activity to maintain attention and extreme amounts of choices in what to consume. When I was truth lean and healthy, my food choices were within a minimal choice range. When I let myself go, the gluttonous attitude with increasing my choices, caused chaos and increased fat stored.
Today, you think you have freedom of choice but you do not, if you only eat out or purchase more packaged foods, the only things you are giving to your body is sugar or high fructose corn syrup and dairy, which causes all kinds of inflammation to kick start the sickness rocket countdown...

One of my female friends can beat any guy at All you can eat buffet. She eats like a vacuum but daily she eats very little. When she works she mostly skips breakfast and eat a quick sandwich for lunch. Many colleagues of mine are the same like that. They drink boba tea every day but not getting fatter because of the total calories in for long period of time just are not enough. My hubby used to brag that he doesn’t gain weight and he came to my home country with cheap and tasty food with a mom who feeds you three times a day with snacks in between. Bam, he gained 10 kg in two years. If you eat a lot day in day out, you will surely gain weight.

My friend has been skinny her whole life. She looks like 14yrs old but is 25yrs old. She told me to only eat 3 meals a day. I watch what she ate...
    Breakfast: 1 toast
    Lunch : 3 sushi
    Snack : 1 small chips
Dinner: small portion curry and rice for a child.
She sleeps a lot never exercise...sometimes walks in a mall that's it.

Ever heard of NAFLD, non alcoholic fatty liver disease? For those that seem to not get fat on the outside but continually eat and drink whatever they want are in for a surprise. Please be cautious and limit the sugar especially fructose.

I have moderate hypothyroidism and untreated but running has meant I burn slightly more even with it. I often end up in the low end of the scale. I do gain fat easily if I don't count calories and keep training but no worries.

I know I'm only a single case study, but i think the "set point" can be changed, but you have to change your weight over a long period, and fight hard to maintain it at your desired weight for years and years. Through my late teens and early adulthood, i weighed 47kgs at 179cm height (extremely skinny), over the next 10 years through discovering the gym, I gained more than 30+kgs of lean weight, and was stitting at 80kgs lean at the peak of my bodybuilding career. After an injury and also a new job, I had to retire mostly from high intensity weight training, also I no longer kept my strict diet. My weight fell to a steady state of 65kgs, and has stayed there for many years, and I never went back to being 47kgs.
So I think much like the last person interviewed in the video, you can change your "set point" but it takes a looong time to reset it from what your genetics predispose you to.

Bruh okay the real reasons why some people never get fat:
    1. Slightly higher metabolism. Just slightly, not significant.
    2. People who said they can't get fat only eat like 1-2 of larger meals a day.
    3. Both of this factor made the illusion of 'i can't get fat'.
Also I'm one of those. But since I'm carrying out a routine of bodybuilding (need to eat more) I actually got fatter. My weight before was 65kg, I'm 175cm tall btw. Now my weight is 75kg. But even then I only sometimes eat 3-4 meals a day, usually I eat 1-2 large meals a day.

If you are relatively healthy and you want to loose weight and keep it off, you can do these three things:
    1. Go go to sleep slightly hungry. Not hungry enough that you can't sleep, but you need to stop eating a few hours before you sleep, 2. Eat when you are hungry.
    3. Stop eating when you are , even if you have only a few bites left.
    Being active helps.
