So true. I know of people so skinny in their teens till their 30's just eating too much not gaining weight..sounds like a miracle right? But nope..then they just gained weight so fast in their 40s thru their 50s and have some health complications.
@@ginamorris4520 as a person with high motabolism I actually prefer that. I'd rather get fat around my 40s and 50s over the getting fat in my 20s. I also gain muscle super easily and fast. I just never work out lol
Men too, who the hell wants to be fat ? Men ? Sorry not me, men must be strong and aesthetic in my point of view, good looking, strong and smart (not too smart and not too dumb).
It isn't so nice, when you are skinny shamed all your life, when people call you anorexic and tell you to eat while you probably eat way more than they ever will. All I want is to have a normal healthy weight. I have to eat a lot of protein to maintain my weight, if I forget to eat my eggs for like 2 days my weight drops. A little more muscle on my bones would be good for me. I don't like being underweight.
I personally believe anyone who tries to adapt to a healthy lifestyle is the biologically blessed one. there's a huge difference between being healthy and skinny. and tbh being skinny should never be the goal but being healthy.

From seeing my really thin friend, what I’ve seen her do is when we’re going out to eat, she’ll never finish her plate. She eats lot of small portions throughout the day and at home, there are days where she just wouldn’t eat because she “forgot” or had no appetite. A lot of thin ppl are very hyper aware of the stuff they put in their mouth and that has allowed them to have a lean physique.
I'm thin but I wouldn't say I'm hyper-aware. Maybe in the sense that I hate the feeling of being full/stuffed but I just genuinely forget to eat a bunch
Not sure if the video covered this but between different body types Ectomorph, Endomorph and Mesomorph, variations in metabolic/cardiovascular and adrenal functions may provide an oversimplification as to why some people do not gain weight. Ectomorphs in particular. Yes diet/environmental/psychological factors not withstanding some are just predisposed to possessing a smaller, thinner, frame that facilitates faster metabolism.
Even though they look thin, their organs inside may be caked in excess fat lining and their cholesterol levels are sky high...still at risk for eventual cardiovascular disease
true. im one of them. 25 yo, working as a mover.. had my blood drawn out and kept for 24 hours in a plastic bag and left alone, after 24 hours a layer of fluid(greyish in colour forms) on top of my blood. was told that it was either my cholestrol was high or lactic acid. to those younsters out there like me, get a blood test every now and then.. being young doesnt always mean healthy.
@@mohamedhafizh9201 Well, blood isn't supposed to be in a plastic bag outside of your body. When you do that, the serum naturally separates from the (red) blood. It's doesn't mean anything specific in regards to your health.

My husband will be 45 in a of couple months. Hasn't caught him yet. He eats bacon by the pack, donuts, chips, drinks soda, eats ice cream every night, etc... he has the worst diet I have ever seen and at 6'3" has never been over 175 lbs (79 kg), and he had to _work_ to get to that weight (muscle building exercise every day and adding weight gaining shakes into his diet; he basically can gain muscle but not fat). I don't drink sugary drinks, was vegetarian, don't eat fried foods because they make me sick, don't eat chips, can't eat ice cream, drink LOTS of water... I can't loose weight unless I completely cut out carbs and get lots of sleep, and I gain it back so easily.
Could happen even way before that. My brother is still in his twenties and yet even though he spent his whole life being gluttonous while staying underweight, he has recently started gaining weight (he’s not fat at all but if he doesn’t start paying more attention to himself it will backfire by his 30s lol)
I’m skinny I used to carry a little puppy fat on me but I became a vegetarian and I started fasting everyday. Now I eat what I want when I want and I never put on weight! I am skinny as hell! I eat until I’m full and then I don’t eat for another 24 hours or more. I fast it all off and that excess sugar, fat and carb is converted into fuel that keeps me full for that particular fasted period. I actually eat a fair bit of junk food. I eat sweats, biscuits, cakes, rolls, burgers, subways, you name it. Hell I even ordered vegan fish n chips and vegan mock sweet n sour chicken late last night. I’m still full from that as I write this. If you saw how skinny I am you wouldn’t believe I’d eat as much as I’ve stated. I typically detox by doing enemas (colon cleansing) or fast for an extended period. I also check the state of my waste both liquids and solids, I assess the colour, density and smell then I make adjustments to my diet accordingly. If you fast for 12 hours or more a day, drink lots of water and stick to just one big meal a day, you can eat whatever you want and never gain weight! As I have proven.
My last GF was like this, super skinny although she would do things like eat a whole bag of potato chips at one sitting etc. But I suspect her secret was: she worked in a hospital and I think she was a functional meth user and only ate when she ate with me.
The intro made it seem like the episode would focus more on people with high metabolism that don't get fat, maybe showcasing them eating large amounts of food without having any issues. Was quite disappointing to see the rest of the segment turn into a generic overview of common diets and exercises.
This!!!. I was really expecting to talk more on why some people are able to maintain their body weight with the fact that they eat a lot. But no, they turn it into another thing.
I can testify my husband has less than 10% body fat for probably 20 plus years. He eats really really slowly and he stops eating as soon as he feels a little full. Anyone I know can eat easily 5x faster than him. If he doesn’t have good food to eat, he’d prefer skipping the meal altogether. People are thin for a reason.

I personally eat a lot but never gets fat easily and it’s actually not fair. I am underweight and people around me will usually pressure me to gain more weight cuz i look thin. I force myself to eat a lot to an extent that my blood pressure will start rising already and last year it reached around 140/90 (btw im just 17 years old boy). I used to be literally phobic towards getting fat (anorexic). To this day I still have above average fear and aversion towards getting any "visible" fat and that's what motivates me to keep an eye on how much I eat! I don't look at the numbers on the scale, only the shape of me in the mirror :) numbers can be misleading, especially if I gain muscle mass!

Yeah definitely. The skinnier ones always have hidden disease because they are used to being called "healthy". So they never bothered with their food intake.

I'm a woman in my 50's with bmi of 19. I never exercise or been on a diet. I'm the only 1 in my whole family like this. I only likes healthy foods, so I rarely eat unhealthy. It's bizarre, but this is how I've been all my life.
my husband is like so as well. his dad drinks like a fish and doesn't even get drunk anymore, his mom struggles with sweet foods, his brother has both issues and also hoovers up any food thrown at him. but my husband eats small portions and can't be pressured into eating more than he needs, snacks on a mixture of healthy and unhealthy snacks, and if he has a choice, only drinks water and nothing else. he also appears to be more self disciplined in all aspects in life (like never binge tv series or video games, a couple hours at most), but it's not real self discipline, he just feels natural and comfortable this way. I find it really interesting how it corelates with all aspects of his behaviours

I highly recommend reading The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung " Overeating was not a personal choice. It is a hormonally driven behavior- a natural consequence of increased hunger hormones. The question, then, is what makes us fat in the first place. In other words, why is the body set weight so high? "

Most people who say they "eat so much and don't gain weight" don't actually eat that much. If you were to track their caloric intake throughout the day and throughout the week, they wouldn't be in a consistent surplus. When they say they "eat so much", they mean they eat shitty calorie-dense foods once or twice a day, but that still doesn't equate to an overall caloric surplus. Especially if you're tall and active. I used to be in this category (6'0", 120lbs), but when I consciously tracked my calories and ensured I ate 3000 a day, I magically started gaining weight.
So a few years ago, i used to be really skinny and i would eat everything and never gained any weight. People used to point it out a lot tho and made the fact that i was so skinny a negative thing. Then i started eating even more and more and more to start gaining weight. Struggled but i got there! But now my weight wont stop and i have a massive flabby stomach and hip dips that i badly want to get rid of
I'm going to call B.S on something mentioned in the video. While there is a weight range that people tend to fall into, that weight range can easily be changed through exercise or dieting or a combination of both. I've been skinny my whole youth, being 50kg from Pri 6 all the way to army. So you can imagine that I just expanded vertically and contracted horizontally. However, after CONSISTENTLY eating more food (almost 50% more) and exposing myself to as much heavy lifting as possible, I'm now hovering around the 65kg to 70kg mark. Not a big jump, but for someone whose body consistently wants to revert back to 50kg, it is getting harder to do so. I get hungry more often since my body is used to eating more food. So if you want to change your weight range (in the fitness industry it's called changing body type), simply change your diet. Side note, the colour of the plate never changed how much I put onto it, it's always a mountain when I eat XD However, there is truth to the point brought up by the doctor that exercise does not help weight loss at all. Exercise builds muscle, so any fats lost and replaced by muscle may cause an increase in weight instead of decrease. Especially weight training. The body looks more mascular of course but the weight may go up. This is because for the same volume, muscle is heavier than fat. I've always maintained that weight is a useless indicator of health. The mirror usually provides a better picture. Of course that is not to say exercise is a waste of time. Exercise provides a host of other benefits depending on the type of exercise done. Cardio exercises done for a reasonable period of time can help cardiac health. Weight training with medium to heavy weights can help increase overall strength and reduce or delay natural muscle atrophy. However, for people with weight loss as a goal, exercise is a waste of time. Weight loss is done in the kitchen. Which brings me to my next point. Diets WORK! BUT! Diets introduce change to the system as pointed out by the dietitian. The body adapts to the change and once the change is reversed, the body goes back to its original form. That's why people who crash diet for short periods of time then go back to eating junk don't keep the weight off. For diets to work, once again, CONSISTENCY is the key. Pick the diet that is easy to follow long term. Let us be honest here, results require consistency. You don't get smart overnight, it is an accumulated process. You don't know how to read and write overnight, it is an accumulated process. You don't pick up a skill overnight, it is an accumulated process. So why is it that getting the body you want should be anything but an accumulated process?
I’m calling bs on this post if you think all of the calories burned at the gym are just replaced by muscle you have never worked out before. For someone with good training diet and genetics you can maybe put on 10-15 lbs of lean massin your first year. Not only that if you’re in a defect it will be even less. Also what this doctor is saying is complete bullshit. Excercise= energy burned and if you’re in a deficit that means your excess fat stores get burned. Obviously it’s not that simple things like optimizing your diet and gut health play a big role but if you’re in a 500 calorie deficit you will lose weight whether or not you’re comatose or you achieved that defecitthrough working out. If you disagree with me why is it that when bodybuilders go on cuts to slim down to extremely low body fat percentages they don’t just sit around and instead work their asses off exercising. It’s because eating 1500 calories a day isn’t an option for them so they create their deficit through exercise and it works.Exercise in general is an excellent habit that America is in desperate need of. But the point is this is a bunch of pop science bullshit. Being active will help you lose weight and it will probably make your weight loss journey as well as your life in general more pleasant because you’ll be able to eat more. But the point is for the majority of people diet and exercise is the answer for losing weight.
@@JohnDoe-ix6my Quite the contrary, if you're lifting heavy, you're breaking down muscle in the gym. Provided you're eating properly, you will be stronger after recovery as the muscle gets rebuilt bigger to more than withstand the previous stress that broke it down. I think you, sir, have not been doing much lifting in the gym. It is very possible to put on 10-15kg not pounds of lean muscle in a year if training correctly and eating right. You don't need good genetics for that. Fats will be burnt when you train, yes, but then again, depending on your workout, the effects of your training will differ. For example, running 10km will give you a very different result from deadlifting 300lbs for a set of 5. Both will burn sugar, but the deadlift will break down muscle (assuming that is your new personal record) and burn whatever is available to build back the muscle. If the run took you more than 15 minutes, you will probably burn some fat. But the moment you stop running, you stop burning fat. You get my point. Also, please do not use bodybuilders as an example, they are all on steroids and most people who just want to get healthy do not want to go there.
not rlly, I eat a lot myself and especially five times a day. It‘s often high calories food and my weight always stays around 50 kg. It‘s just our metabolism which is different.
ᄋᄉᄋ민린 hmm not entirely true. A lot of younger people have a “high metabolism” because there bodies still need to develop. That means your body requires more energy > faster burning > more fuel. So people often use the “high metabolism card” but after that peak you either unconsciously eat way less or move more: fidgeting, standing, walking, sports etc. There was also a study where they followed skinny “high metabolism people” and tracked what they ate. And yes on some days they will go far over their BMR and on some days they would be far below that. That way of eating doesn’t lead to weight gain.
Quork Since 1970, the adult obesity rate in the US has increased from around 15% to over 40%. Our genetics haven’t changed since 1970, it’s just that American food culture has changed to promote more and more gluttony (I use the US as an example but this is true for many other countries). It’s just really hard for people who have grown up with bad food habits to change those habits because they’re so ingrained :(
A big factor is also the appetite. I was skinny in childhood and still pretty lean now but with gym have a decent physique. I have from my experience noticed that i dont have a big apettie, in my college sometimes i would go for 2-3 days without eating anything but water when i was stress studying before exams and never felt hungry. In true honesty i have never really felt that craving hunger that many of my friends describe when they just have to eat. To counter this i have made a schedule to make sure i dont skip eating because i do feel tired if i dont eat but never hungry. During the pandemic especially when the gym was closed and the routine was basicslly go to work, come back home watch tv or games, i had to set eat alarms to make sure i eat.
Working out isn't all about losing weight. its healthy to exercise because it makes you a happier person, and builds muscle for you to use when you get older.
@@sleverlight With genetic modifications though, people can just have the muscle by default, no exercise needed. The only reason why people need to exercise is because humans have evolved to prioritize calorie conservation over physical ability. Since muscle consumes a huge amount of calories, humans generally evolved to possess as little muscle as necessary. In modern first world countries, where hunger is no longer an issue, that evolutionary trait is now disadvantageous to the individual.
@@Thunderfang777 The problem is you modify one gene but who knows how many things in your body it controls? Many genes produce multiple proteins throughout the body. What if a side effect of this genetic modification turns out that your skin lacks many necessary components and you get cuts just from grabbing stuff and lightly stretching your skin? The big issue with the Chinese scientist engineering babies to be HIV resistant is that they may pass on genetic defects on to their children and all descendants forever.
@@deadliftguy3279 A genetic modification to enhance your muscles the way I described it won't stop you from being able to exercise. Quite the opposite in fact. You'll just be at your peak ability regardless of your decision to do so. Even for those who enjoy exercising, getting the results I described are nearly impossible for a genetically unmodified human to achieve. And even in the cases where it is, the training required to do so would be a full time job at the very least.

My brother is still in his twenties and yet even though he spent his whole life being gluttonous while staying underweight, he has recently started gaining weight (he’s not fat at all but if he doesn’t start paying more attention to himself it will backfire by his 30s lol)

my husband is like so as well. his dad drinks like a fish and doesn't even get drunk anymore, his mom struggles with sweet foods, his brother has both issues and also hoovers up any food thrown at him. but my husband eats small portions and can't be pressured into eating more than he needs, snacks on a mixture of healthy and unhealthy snacks, and if he has a choice, only drinks water and nothing else. he also appears to be more self disciplined in all aspects in life (like never binge tv series or video games, a couple hours at most), but it's not real self discipline, he just feels natural and comfortable this way. I find it really interesting how it corelates with all aspects of his behaviours

Tbh, I think it’s cause they lie about how much they eat. They’ll be like “I eat so much” but when you watch them, they have the smallest portions and don’t even finish all of it. Sometimes they’ll just ‘forget’ to eat. Idk if they realize they’re lying or if they just have a weird definition of a lot.
True
I think it's just a weird definition of a lot because they or I actually believe it
the weird definition of "a lot" is true. For me, 2 bread toast is fulfilling but for my brother isn't.
I am very skinny and I think you are kinda true. I don't necessary lie about how much I eat but I do eat less food. I realized that I eat less food a few months ago and it was a total surprise for me. Also about forgetting to eat, I genuinely forget to eat when I am busy or just enjoying a certain activity. Also 'a lot' is definitely subjective.
If you eat healthier food for the most part you eat much larger qualities and more often. And if you eat a lot of fat (good fats like fish and eggs) you eat less and less often. My sister is always trying to loose weight and I am always thin and get back to my pre pregnancy weight within weeks not months and i eat so much that when she copied my diet (with smaller portions for herself) she gained weight while visiting for two weeks while i lost 6 lbs over that same time. Some definitely is predisposition but she was shocked by how much i actually eat.
the animation is so over the top and distracting, and sometimes unnecessary
I can’t stop laughing at the effects, I wonder hum much planning went into that xD
Well my secret is being stuck to my PC and eating once a day to focus on my PC.
when you also don't get fat and you want to know why
They already explained it. The set point theory where your body fights to get back to the original optimal weight. Coupled with genetics. So if you are born with a high metabolism and Low weight, you will always stay lean. Unless there’s a drastic change in your life style and routine.
Yes, i came for that because tired of being bullied

Skinny person : I can't gain weight, im underweight im super worried about my health,, i wish i was normal 😭
People in the comments : Stop bragging
Some people have really hard time gaining weight like me. I was 52kg @ 171cm. I went to gym with no knowledge for like 4 months 2-3 times a week and still be the same. I gave up. After few months of procastination, i decided to get my ass up and start again. I started to do compound exercises such as deadlift, squat & bench press. Inclusive of bodyweight exercises like pull ups and dips. Most of meals are high carbs and protein with 500 calories surplass everyday.
Now after 2.5 years of training. I gained 20kg. Gained muscles and getting stronger with 15% bodyfat. In order to achieve something, you gotta consistently work hard. And of course never give up

Ppl don't understand that gaining weight for a skinny person and losing weight for an overweight person are both equally hard. I'm slightly underweight because i don't eat a lot but even when i try to eat more and count my calories it's hard because i get full fast or i just end up pooping it all out bc my metabolism catches up.
I have a friend who is really skinny but eats like three men. She can consume 2 full plates of pasta, energy drink and some bread but then go for a bag of chips only 20 minutes later 😅. I’m jealous 🙈
There is also something called "skinny fat" which the video did not mention. It can be worse than being obese.
Lots of pizza, chips and ice cream! I drink lots of water to flush it out and I make sure to eat healthy meals containing vegetables once or twice a week. I don’t exercise.
As I have proven…

I've been told that metabolism becomes slower as we grow older but my dad still looks the same and so do my uncles. So I guess it's really just runs in my family, regardless of age.
I highly recommend reading The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung
" Overeating was not a personal choice. It is a hormonally driven behavior- a natural consequence of increased hunger hormones. The question, then, is what makes us fat in the first place. In other words, why is the body set weight so high? "
"I just don't get...fat"

Something that I have observed is that skinny people eat slowly small chunks at a time. While the obese people quickly finish their meal.
Even i realised it too,alot of.ppl i know eat slow,the ones who r skinny
well digestive enzymes get secreted in your mouth to break down fats and carbs plus the more the food is broken down the easier the body can assimilate it. Still I was a fast eater and was skinny. Now I changed chewing my food well and it helps to prevent bloating and feeling better.

Age plays a factor too. You will start to notice weight gain around late 30s onwards
Not always true it’s easier for me to loose weight after 35 than it was when I was a teen. As a teen I was always fat no matter what I did.

@@lapillus2344 ahh good I thought I was the only one - so many people don’t believe me 😅
Most people who say they "eat so much and don't gain weight" don't actually eat that much.
This was me until age 23, then stress made my metabolism dive hard!
The right mindset: Dont exercise and eat well to lose weight, but to be healthy

Side note, the colour of the plate never changed how much I put onto it, it's always a mountain when I eat XD
However, there is truth to the point brought up by the doctor that exercise does not help weight loss at all.
Thank you !
Wait you were 50kg in Pri 6? I WAS 35KG I-
I’m calling bs on this post if you think all of the calories burned at the gym are just replaced by muscle you have never worked out before.
Why? Cause they eat way less than they claim. Often when people claim to 'eat much' they barely eat above 2000 calories
not rlly, I eat a lot myself and especially five times a day.
@@steacyprika9212 agreed. Genetics alsp palys a part though I would say
Whereas I've been eating around 1300-1800 calories per day for my entire life but I'm obese 😅
My case is pretty much the same. I can skip a meal, and be perfectly fine.
I can relate to u very much... U will feel tired but never hungry... May be i should also try to implement it in my life to not skip meals...
The editor did a really good job on this video
And this is yet another reason why genetic engineering is the future: so everyone can enjoy living like these people.
@@Thunderfang777 I love exercising. It is really fun chasing goals to be honest. I am muscular and fit as a side effect of that.
I've always had slim figure until now, but I still watch what I eat. Taking care of your health is important, either you're skinny or not.
