- Instructions for drawing a box. Of course you need to learn how to draw a simple card box because it helps with so many other drawings. This video explains how to draw simple objects, in this case how to draw a small cardboard box with an open flap. The video explains about how to look at the box, to look for the perspective and how to apply the shading. This will improve the drawing of the box. I also explain how to create edges and not outlines to make the drawing look much more effective. Learning how to draw a box is easy if you follow this art tutorial. Teenagers, beginners and those wanting to improve their own drawing skills should find it useful.

I reallly appreciate that tip on putting a shadow around the box, when you can't see one in the photo. It creates some real space where the box is
Glad you liked the idea. Cheers Paul
This vid was very neat and I loved how u said, "don't panic."
That's great, glad you enjoyed the video
Thank you, Paul. Whilst isolating due to pandemic, my kiddo and I are drawing daily. This was a useful part of intro to drawing technique for him.We appreciate your work.
Glad it was helpful! Good luck with your drawing.
Beautiful and thing i love was "dont panic.."
You'd be surprised the number of people who write to me saying they can't do this or that because they haven't got the right pencil or a piece of graphite. Cheers Paul
@@PaulPriestleyart, I agree with your idea. Thank you for this amazing video tutorial. I look forward to you!
Ps: Your ad speech seems to reiterate a BCC live broadcasting. 😊
Good drawing practice! If I may suggest, that you make available the larger photo of the actual box, so that I could draw what I see, not just recreate your strokes. You could have the link to the photo available for download in the description of the video.
Some good ideas there, I'll investigate linking to the actual picture. Cheers Paul
Wonderful video…I’m new to drawing and you demonstrate at a beginner friendly pace and you are a delight to listen to…so encouraging 🥰

I noticed how easier it was to do the shadows using the graphite stick. I'll need to check if I've got any in my art bin.👍
Graphite is really useful, the ones I use are made by Lyra. Cheers Paul

Angles: My BIGGEST problem Angles :( always my boxes wrong.
Yes, once you crack the angles everything falls into place.
Paul Priestley many thanks for your simple videos.
Can you please tell me how to set a vanishing point? How many is necessary?
Check out this video ruclips.net/video/bmhgEV593ks/видео.html and the others that follow. Should explain everything.
That’s a great explanatory video. Thank you so much for the video! Cheers!
Pleased you enjoyed the video. Cheers Paul
Okay I did the drawing and several others. I cannot see how you can hold graphite in your fingers and rest the side of your hand on the drawing without getting graphite smudges everywhere. I am erasing constantly those areas of unwanted darkness. How are you avoiding the mess?
You don't rest your hand on the drawing. If you are holding graphite or charcoal, the hand holding the material shouldn't come into contact with the paper. Resting your hand on the drawing restricts movement and the freedom of expression. You'll have to try to adapt your drawing technique. Cheers
Thank but must learned apple with pencil and very good with colors pencils
Are you sure you are commenting on the correct video?

Today I tried to draw a toy in front of me but I failed it was so bad
I don't wanna give up but really I can't do it & one thing else... I don't know from where I should start
Sorry I talked too much
Your English is good. Check out this video: ruclips.net/video/OezMavBqWXc/видео.html it might help. Cheers Paul
@@PaulPriestleyart I got it
Thanks✨🎀
Sir, i cannot draw out of my imagination. I need a reference sketch or picture to draw. Is it okey ?
Copying photographs or other people's drawing is just copying. If you want to learn to draw, you have to draw what is in front of you.
@@PaulPriestleyart I don't understand, then what should i draw? I am not very good at imagining and drawing as of now.
@@nitroRadon you can put a box on your table and look at it and draw it. If you don't have a box, you can draw a different, similar simple object.
I just felt like grabbing the box out of my computer since it's so realistic.
Now you have to draw it!
@@PaulPriestleyart What paper do i use?
I’m the 1st view. How special.
Well done
Well done
Well done
For the fun of it, I tried the part at the very beginning with the vanishing points merging together to create a box. My "box" ended up looking a little on the abstract side. Lol
Disclaimer: I'm not an artist nor do I play one on TV. 😂
Just attempting to draw for fun.
It's all about making sure the verticals stay vertical
I have only hb pencil 😁
So what is your problem? Just draw and stop making excuses, you can do it if you try.
He now knows how big his flap is 😅
Childish
the next Bob Ross
No, this is Paul Priestley. Cheers and thanks for the comparison.
Ok i Just can’t do it
Then you have two options, give up or try again. Choice is yours.
It's very hard
😅
Don't give up! You can do it if you really want to. Cheers
Don’t panic🤣🤣
True
I can't see anything
Shame
This is for homeschool and I can’t get the box straight
Oh, yes you can, try again.
