I’m astounded that the developer decided not to make the game faster bit by bit, or at least change the tempo each try so that it can’t be brute forced like this
The game actually speeds up as your blocks get smaller, so what ever speed you set it to it will eventually find the right size piece that it will start making perfect hits on. I think the problem you had was that the machine just wasn't reliable enough.
That’s assuming the game blocks slowly get smaller in small enough increments that eventually it would find the right speed. In reality, you won’t be able to find that point because the blocks will immediately get much smaller with a different speed. But yes, for most speeds between the upper and lower limit, there is a block that will work, it just likely won’t find it on its own.
"I'm not a cheater." *Invents a method to not pay for a service provided by someone else.* I don't think you can challenge the court judge to a game of stack.
I attempted something similar as a tween back in the 80s, making a Lego button pusher to use on a Tempest coin-op game in a neighborhood shop. It didn't work so well, but I didn't put it through a lot of testing and adjustment TBH. Thanks for dredging up that fun memory for me!
A similar machine is available on Chinese e-commerce platform several years ago. With this machine, some netizens get paid by the fans for boosting the view rates for certain Chinese pop stars. That Scratch system must have a "run motor at deg/s" block, not a simple "run at %". Using that would prevent dead batteries problem and remove the need for gears.
I don't usually comment much, but you production quality is great! You have a nice balance of fun discovery, actual working builds and comedy. Keep it up!
I've often considered doing this for grindy, repetitive tasks in phone games... But always teach the conclusion it would be MORE effort to make the machine than just grind out the task.
you could make a huge gear ratio thing to speed it up for the ultimate auto clicker for Cookie Clicker. it may accidentally mess up the screen a bit with the rapid tapping but there has to be sacrifices for greatness
The way touchscreens work is below the glass, there are thousands of small capacitors in a grid. Our bodies produce small amounts of electricity (0.5 millivolts per BPM). When the capacitor (negative) senses a positivity charged item (your finger), it sends a signal from left to right and top to bottom where the disturbance occurred. Your phone or computer knows that the location where it was disturbed at is where you pressed on screen, and treats it like a computer mouse. All Riley had to do was order a battery box for a single AA battery, and wire the positive receptor to the auto-clicker!
