I just came across this. Thank you for remembering Mel. You see I was Mel's manager and friend up until his death in 2011. We knew each other for 20 years. I still miss him to this day. I'm now retired to my Philippines home and enjoyed your take on "Ol' Mel". Regards,
When my daughter was about 3 years old this was big on radio and it was her favorite song. She’d run around singing it and was the cutest thing ever. Such wonderful memories!
Another fun song is "Brillant Conversionist". In the movie Desperado, there is a scene where Salma Hayek is walking across the street causing a car accident. I used to go to Horse shows with my Aunt & Uncle. Those girls wore sone very tight jeans. They used to pull them on wet and let them dry to their shape, so they were form fitted.

The line between a woman finding a stare complimentary & finding it creepy is if she finds the guy attractive or not. Don't waste time worrying which it is. Given how long they take to get ready, there are no accidents and she's never not aware of what she is doing. Whether or not they can guilt trip you for looking is a game they play. Don't accept the mind game. There isn't a law saying men have to avert their gaze from women in public, yet. If she's dressing up for attention that isn't the moment to straighten up. That's the moment to cut her loose. Its usually the best-looking ones who never had to develop a personality and they never learned to weather the hard times with someone because the next guy was always on the horizon.
Greg, something you said at the point where you asked if us ladies find it creepy to be looked at until we're gone makes me wonder if you missed part of the point of the song...more specifically, when you said that if we came out looking that way people were gonna look, I think you might have missed the intended point of how the woman in the lyrics is NOT purposely trying to catch the attention of anyone, it just happens. So, it ain't any of this "if you out looking like that..." type of thing. I like ya bud, I am just pointing out where I think you might've missed some of the meaning in the song. --- Personally, if y'all keep distance, don't vocalize it and ya don't openly leer, I'm fine with someone's eyes watching me as I go past. Violate any of those three, and I got a huge problem with it.
I think staring at something beautiful is fine. But there's a difference between staring and leering. Staring just to watch in admiration ... great. Leering is creepy and usually makes cringe and get a creepy crawly feeling. They need to stop that!
