As a mom, the part that made me cry was seeing the joy on Jameson's face, just beaming because his big brother asked him to do this... believed in him. That is life changing in a child. I try to make my son and daughter feel that way everyday. Way to go, big brother! Excellent video, Riley. We needed this right now.
Dude, i play like this with my dad sometimes in his training. This really hits home for me. I really feel the signs of comfidence when i play my age players in tournaments. The confidence i can beat them because i almost beat guys twice or triple the age of me. (im 12 and my dad is 37)
I'm 28 right now and my son have only 2yo. But every day i'm training i just dream and imagine how it would be if he loves volleyball like me! Sure im gonna call him for training like your daddy do with you! Cheers from Brazil
Damn man, volleyball has had the same impact on me. It introduced me to most of my best friends, it took me to Massachusetts to live by myself and go to college, it’s made me understand myself better and has always helped me when I need to put my mind off something. Volleyball has easily saved my life. I will be forever grateful and I hope I never stop playing this beautiful game.
Incredible story. Love it. One year I had to bring my 15yo daughter to beach provincials...she is 100% indoor player, setter. So...it was something. But somehow we pulled out a 5th place finish. It was so fun, and such a great experience. I had zero expectations, was just glad to be allowed to play. And we killed it! All sets were tight, all went to 3. Somehow we pulled it out. This is so inspirational, I'm sharing it with our beach club kids! Thank you for sharing 😎
This is fantastic. Reminds me of when we were on vacation as kids and my dad brought my brother and me on the court to play beach 5 on 5 when we were maybe 8 and 10 years old ... against adults. One guy was like "I'm not playing if they the kids are playing." My dad told him to just wait. Turns out we weren't the problem.
Good feels.. Every once in awhile when you guys arent teaching us how to set properly or how drive scooters in foreign lands, we get a gem like this one. Nothing, and I mean nothing is more important than family. You may NEVER know how much it meant to your lil brother that he got to play with you. He, himself, because of his young age might not even have realized how that little event in life helped shape and mold both of you in a way only a parent could understand and be proud of. Love you guys, you are truly a special place to come and wash all that evil off from the outside shit people that are out there.
Broo from no matter wich place or what you do... Passion always shows you the path to find your way... The things we do are another step to find us... I felt every word you said big hug
Fantastic video and story telling. I play beach with my 13 year old daughter. We don’t win that often, but the memories and fun are what’s it all about.
I didn't see anyone else comment this, so I have to: I'm crying because of how sweet, encouraging and loving your mum is. You boys are very lucky to have grown up with her
Something I realized, watching you this whole year, with you making kind of a different content this whole year, is that I really really wanna play volleyball all around the world. Right now because of covid 19 I can't really travel around and the biggest tournament in Vienna (my city) is also canceled. Right now I play volleyball almost every day in a park with lots of friends and also lots of strangers, but this video just reminded me again how bad, I wanna come to all this different places and meet all this different people and play volleyball with them. Thank you for reminding me :)
I stumbled upon this channel because I am a former indoor player switching to Beach. I had a humbling experience last week at my first KOTB tournament. I lost every game and I felt terrible for being such a bad partner. I am on a journey to improve. I am so thankful for this channel, and I am a bit obsessed with it at the moment. I love how y'all explain the game and how real you keep things. Y'all seem like amazing human beings and your videos inspire me!
Riley, this is one of the best videos on the internet. As a volleyball player, coach, dad and just an overall fan of sports, your video was so inspirational. Thanks for sharing!
The McKibbin Brothers, glad to hear. Just speaking the truth. BTW, your channel is awesome! As a setter in college, I initially subscribed for your insight on technique which is always spot on. But this particular video spoke to me in a different way because I was in retrospect always so hard on my teammates when they didn’t give me that perfect pass or were out of position, and you helped me remember the importance of being an encouraging teammate and a leader on the court...things I try to teach my kids in sports and life in general. Thanks again!
This story is both entertaining and inspirational. You got to love Jameson's composure at that age with everything that was at stake. Thanks for the lesson. I know a lot of people who need to hear this. Great Video
9:27 This quote… is a masterpiece, instilling it into everyday life is one of the best things you can do. I’ve watched this video (especially this part) over 20 times, being a volleyball player myself I can understand how much of a difference confidence can make, not only in volleyball but everyday life. Thank you for making this video Riley, It inspires me to do better
Love it! I coached my youngest daughter who is now setter for her varsity team (as a sophomore). This video hits home - I love your philosophy that sports teaches life lessons, not just how to hit a ball. I've loved watching your vids, they really take me back to days gone by when I used to play outdoor. Thank you! Keep them coming. 🏐👍😀
I love this so very much. I literally cried...this is so very powerful. Thank you for sharing this and so many intricate details about the path to being our best. I’m SO thankful for your videos, your creativity and your sense of humor. The “yes, and” approach to filming is paying off 🙏❤️🙏❤️
I love the rewind to your before AVP tournament! I really want to see a McKibbin Rewind to Madison's first AVP win with Ty! If you can get Billy and Stafford commentary that would be GOLD!
I just begun playing beach volley 10 months ago and i literally watch all your videos, but this one made me think about how important is to cheer up your partners on every sports, to enjoy the game. Ps :i'm 28 yo
I feel like this is the best video that you have ever done , not only that but it is also the best tutorial you have ever done because the moral of this story is so powerful and is such an important lesson to learn . Thank you .
Great video! You have a way to capture people's attention with your story telling. I have been watching your channel for about 2 years now. Played this game for 13 years (sand 13, indoor 7). And still going strong at 33. Never wanted to quit. So many life lessons in playing sports. Keep inspiring others. Peace.
I want to have this connection with my kid(s) one day. As a first generation college athlete there is so much to teach, but with youth it’s all about delivery. Good on you for getting your brother that far at only 7
I just had to watch this video a couple years later and tell you a quick story. I played in a tournament last weekend and I couldn't find a partner. My regular partner was hurt. A couple of others were out of town and no one really wanted to play. A friend mentioned that their roommate used to play and was looking to get some games in. Long story short we won our division and while we is a great player what he brought with him was confidence not only in himself but in me. In the finals while I was tired physically and mentally I could hear him saying "Go Joe". It really propelled me to push harder. Oh and the partner...Donald Suxho lol
This video was amazing! I don’t play volleyball, but I’ve been struggling with my fitness and confidence for the past few weeks, and the points that you make are so helpful and relatable.
Just a wonderful story and great highlight and perspective into more than just a win or a loss! All sports are far more than that, the friendships, compassion, fair play, and lessons learned from playing are far more valuable in life than just caring about winning every game. Loved the video!!!
Riley(or maddison, Idk who's reading), that video was so perfect, I'm 16, and it helped me figure out some mixed ideas I had about my flaws and my future as a beach volleyball player. Big fan from Brazil, I would love to see a video talking about how were your first avp games
This is such a cute story, with a well needed speach for me at the end, thank you so much Riley :) Will Jameson transition to beach like you guys did or will he stick to indoor, do you know what his future plans are? :)
Riley, not only a really cool and inspirational but also a personal video... it shows the other side of just winning points. Tournaments will come and go - but with that decision to play with your 7y old brother you have made a memory for life... for yourself and for Jameson. Respect on almost winning 😎 Kind of felt like you were preparing the ground for the ones to come, but from what I have seen from your latest videos, you two still have a lot to give, record and show. Keep it up, please 🤗 I have liked, commented and subscribed. Is there anything else I can do to support you guys ?
Excellent story telling! It touches the emotion, portrays and instills exactly that, confidence. Perhaps it reached be because I love volleyball, but no, it applies to all sports, to life. Thank you
Oh my gosh what an incredible story! I just started watching you videos so I could learn some basics in volleyball and wasn't really expecting to learn so much! This was really entertaining, informative, and touching! Thanks for sharing, it really helps!
Outstanding Video! I really like how you try to capture the whole picture of this sport! Not only tutorials about volleyball technique or tactics, but also the mental approach which for me is what takes you a step further. You are doing a great job here and you have a serious talent in story telling and editing! Keep going please! 🤜🏽🤛🏽
This is really inspiring. It would be great to show this video to some of the players I coach down here in Colombia. But most of them don't speak english. Great stuff guys.
Wonderful story and video. I saw you live, play a match with San Giustino in the year you lead the team to stay in Serie A! A big hug from Italy and stay safe! Mauro from Italy
I watched Jameson come in and set for a set for USC and he killed it (before COVID happened). I hope he STAYS in. There is an "it" factor where you have it or your do NOT. He has it.
This video really impressed me. So well written story and truly inspiring 🏐🔥 Crazy to see you almost take the match with your little bro, that would have been an absolutely crazy moment! But it's still amazing what you accomplished together 😁 Keep em coming 💥
This video make me decide to try to play volleyball, although i’m not that tall and i’m little too “old” (19 years old), thanks for give me a reason, the love for this sport. (Sorry for my english, i’m from italy and i’m not a very good speaker in english, i’ve tried my best ✌🏻)

Excellent video, Riley. We needed this right now.
The cut to Jameson playing for USC gave me chills. What an awesome video, Riley.
I'm sorry, but I cannot get over how unrecognizable you are without a beard
Dude this story got me chills
Once he started showing clips of his brother playing for USC, hell yeah. Crazy chills.
Mitch Zimmerman that’s the exact part I’m taking about 👀👀

Thank you for sharing this story. I say this all the time but you guys have really made this not about volleyball but about life and family.
Your best video and story yet. Loving the philosophy and life lessons!
Without a doubt, my favorite video from this channel!! Thank you 🙂
This needs to be shared far and wide with athletes everywhere. You’re a great volleyball player and an inspiration to many! Love your content!
