Father Ed delivers again
Haha father ed. Seems wrong on so many levels. I'm not going there 😂
Watching from Greece 🇬🇷
Yup. Always.
Ha! Perfect
🙏🙏🙏amen
I’m a bit concerned that you have a microphone in my house - because your advice seems to land on exactly the topics I’m thinking of at any given time.
This morning, I was thinking about how to expand my RUclips efforts in relation to building training/course content off platform and… I need to get a microphone detector…
The business perspective one is so important. When I was a freelance photographer I failed because I thought "well why wouldn't people want to buy my photos". Same thing goes with youtube, creating good marketing is just as critical to building the content itself.
Comments like this really help us new RUclipsrs. Thanks for sharing 😊
Ed is about to make my sales go "BRRRR" 😂
There is one nuance/correlation you forgot to mention about the 2 types of RUclipsrs. Not all niches can fit both. If your aim in life is to make vlogs/documentaries/art content for example to change culture, you can't exactly be a businessman with a youtube channel since little of what you do is business (solving problems) and the essence of what you do is cultural. So there is a little danger here of people that had artistic dreams ending up being businessmen earning good money but then, overall, missing the point of being an "Artist" which was what it was all about originally. So a better tip may be to have two RUclips channels, the business one supporting the other one because the truth is that it's very difficult to sell a product on a cultural channel since people don't watch because of a problem they have in mind.
So I know your target audience is business RUclipsrs, but it could be helpful to keep in mind the Cultural RUclipsr because that's the real difference. Instead of RUclipsr vs Businessman, it's about Cultural RUclipsrs vs Business RUclipsrs. And acknowledging that could help the cultural RUclipsrs not to fall into the trap of making a business and following too much the money. Actually, it might be useful for Cultural RUclipsrs to provide other metrics of success, which indeed shouldn't be views, such as getting noticed in the cultural industry thanks to your youtube channel, so you can actually make money outside youtube, or get sponsors etc.
You dont need two channels, you can have a business and an art channel, your art channel builds a personal brand, thats the thing that has the value so I dont think a second channel is needed, a website or some kind of service is
This is something I've encountered on my journey. I always wanted to find a way to fuse my passion (music) with online business. It seems like my best option is offering online music lessons. With lessons, I can still just express myself musically and make all kinds of artistic stuff, firstly to express/explore my artistic ambitions, but also to get a bigger reach and generate leads. I think it's very much possible, and all a matter of how you orient your personal brand and the type of people you are targeting with your services.
At your end screen section. Did you intentionally say " some other Steaks to avoid" just to get me to listen to it again to make sure what you said and write this comment, or was that a editing error?
Great video Ed, I can relate to the bread & butter both literally and as a creator 😂
Monetization. So close! Yet so far…
Onward!
Always coming out with the best videos for creators. Thanks Ed!! You 'da beset!
Always excited for new videos!
Great video Ed. I have a question about promoting the product first and then building it. How do you do that research step? Do you mean telling your audience about a product you "are" making? And if you have little engagement you just don't do it? What about the few people who were interested and see you never built the product? Or are you promoting the IDEA of a new product and if it does not generate too much interest you just move on? Do you need to explain to your audience why that is no longer happening?
So you research what they want, then build your marketing, for example plan the landing page and promotional messaging, then you build the product around that messaging.
Youre basically focusing on working out what would sell and how to sell it then making sure your product ticks those boxes.
You're the king of using analogies in videos! I love this toast one.
Love that focus analogy
Your toast analogy is on point, I'm surprised despite hearing it over and over, that it finally clicked with bread & butter lmao.
Sometimes you have to be in the right stage of your life to truly understand something
One thing I really thought would be easier was getting my first 1000 subscribers but then maybe I was wrong. Maybe there's much more to RUclips than just posting videos. Maybe!

Ed is my new favorite RUclipsr.. ahem I mean business man
The points you've raised about the challenges and mistakes that RUclips creators often encounter in building their channels and businesses are spot on. Can you share more examples or stories about creators who made similar mistakes and then successfully corrected them to achieve better results?
Great advice since avoiding these common mistakes can certainly help RUclipsrs achieve their financial goals. Thanks for sharing these insights.
Love you, Ed, you always make me smile while teaching me something useful. A rare combo!
Love you too
Great video... but still searching for the killer idea to offer to my viewers that isn't just merch 😅
Keep searching. You never know who you can inspire😊
what service do you use for your landing page and newsletter?
Interesting…
Nice backdrop 😌
Thanks 😅
Your title is making a pretty big conclusion about my financial situation 😂😂😂
That toast analogy was both informative and looked delicious 🍞
Loved this... as always!
Definitely focusing on one toast right now, and that's producing videos (top funnel).
When I get some momentum going I will try to be more proactive with the email list (collecting emails passively atm).
Then I'll start to actively think of an actual product while testing some free ones.
It's months if not more in advance, but it makes a ton of sense.
As a first-timer, it will probably take longer than it should, but I still have a full-time job and a family, so I'm focusing on enjoying the ride while recognising patterns that work.
Thank you, Ed!
Yo Ed, thanks for the info as usual. Great vid. Let’s goooooo!
thanks Ed. I'll never look at my breakfast toast the same.
Im glad toast now has more meaning in your life, it was too boring before
I always follow #3, it's amazing. When you get the initial sales and then you have the pressure of fulfillment. It's a great feeling. 😊
My fear is this. No momentum no velocity. And a channel subscriber base not yet ready to be monetized as they haven’t fully committed to the channel just yet. I thought I’d multiple ways and streams I’d income to start earning money. But if I start that it’s more work for me for no return. If I had a bigger audience that’s always there and ready to help then I could offer them different things.
I’ve taken many people where I’ve shared ideas and asked for feedback to just test the waters and majority of the subs that did reply were not at all into the ideas I had.
So overall I don’t want to start making commitments or investing more to find out now I have some kind of product inventory that won’t be sold.
Yes I am going to make my channel a business but first I want the channel to have a sustainable heart beat and pulse. Returning viewers, dedicated and committed viewers and maybe even people actively looking to help.
Then I’d feel better about implementing the business side of things to the channel with hopes of a little more success then going in without a foundation to build on.
It’s a great video and I agree with the points you made. I learned a few things from this video. But for me I need a more solid ground to stand on before I can move forward. 👍
Yes most need to be getting 1000+ views per video before they build products etc unless they have the business first and then decide to use the channel to build the business
I share with you in the pain you are currently facing in your channel. Hopefully, it will get better as we continue to find better ways to have dedicated subscribers 😊
@@creator-booth exactly! On average my channel shows around 30 views per every 48 hours or sometimes even less. On a channel with 203 videos that shows how there is no pulse (yet). And this is personally the scariest thing for me. But once I’m able to get a sustained 1000+ every 48 hours and and hundreds of return visitors then I’ll be more confident.
Appreciate your videos Ed! They are highly informative and I learn alot from them. Thank you!
@@Designsss. Just have to keep learning and improving and in due time it’ll happen! 👍
@@leosthrivwithautism Yes dear. Keep learning and improving 😃
Hi Ed, watching this video made me hungry but left my mind fully satisfied after the sustenance you provided. Thanks so much for sharing this five tips you learned the hard way. Russ
I LOVE the accounting for Creators concept!! That's part of my channel and I'm an Accountant!!! ❤❤😅
I came to the same conclusions - but I struggle with turning my gaming channel into a business. It's all about reach, or not? I'd really need some guidance here but I guess I can't afford any at the moment.
The advice he gives is more for business/education channels. It won’t apply as easily to gaming channels.
If you’re good at a game you can sell coaching sessions or PDF guides. It’ll never be as profitable as other niches though
We shall make it.
Nice toast analogy Ed!
Business man with a RUclips channel was a 🤯 moment.
GOOD!!! Glad to hear it
Thank you so much Eddi Film Booth again ❤
Money printer go brrrrr
Good information. Thank you
Awesome video again!
Love the toast metaphor!!
you made me eat toast! Seriously though. Great video Ed. I am very impressed how you make me keep watching until the end again and again and again.
Oh..... And admitting your failures. Great move. That makes it even more relatable. thanks for this
Love the toast 🍞 analogy ❤😂!
Thank you so much!
I absolutely love how you’ve used the exact same metaphor you used in the video about blowing up liv’s channel but instead of cups of water it’s toast, that’s creative
yea haaha, I ve got to use it again for a course video too. running out of ways to say the same thing 😂
@@creator-booth I might just have to steal it haha
Where can I get that hat?
Great editing =)
I love the buttered toast analogy. A useful illustration of the conundrum while being profoundly British. We can all thank the likes of lifelong hacks such as Gary Vee for perpetuating the “You gotta be on every platform all the time man!” ideology that has infected the minds of all young creators for nigh on a decade. The “grind set” lifestyle and all that tosh is the kind of mental circle jerk that the likes of him indulge in a desperate attempt to stay relevant. Thank you for the practical advice Ed. 🎉
Gary Vee's target audience for his production company was people spending 5 figures+ a month, so in that respect his message was correct, if you want to build a giant personal brand you do, he just never caveated that for people with no budget or no existing following
💖💖💖💖💖💖🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 TY
Ed, are you going to come to VidSummit this year?
No im afraid not this year
Heartbreak! There is a creator presenting there this year that you should meet. He is a deca-millionaire on a 400K subscriber channel. RUclips pays him around $43K a month on average to send customers to his business.
Where do we find this video funnels course?
Oh its long gone, was about 7 years ago now
love the Sam Ovens butter methapor lol
I’ve always loved your content and there are good “business” tips here but please slow down. What’s the rush? There’s got to be a happy medium. Thanks.
Linus Sebastian is a RUclipsr - his words not mine ;)
That's why he hired a ceo, so he could focus on creating content
@@itsTiagoSilva it's about being a business person, no one cares about any titles...
Another clutch video! I’m working on building a piano business through RUclips. First step is to hit 1000 subscribers and at least 10 good prospects who like my style and want to learn piano from me.
Sounds good!!! Good luck
Well let's be honest here, the number 1 mistake they make is: They don't watch creator booth! ;)
😂 Thats a secret tip
I like toast and I'm blushing. 10/10 video.
🔥🔥🔥
When I watching this video it reminded me watch the car video 🚗 by you .
This video don’t jiggle jiggle, it folds 🤑
Top 10🎉🎉😅
now I want toast
Can you my mentor.
😊
Brr
Boom! 2nd comment is mine haha
Sorry, I stopped watching during point #1 to go make toast. Mmmmm toast 🤤
Thank you for sharing this, Ed!
Eye-opening, as always!
Fantastic analogy
Thank you for your information. Very helpful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
