Hi nice to see you back! I saw the channel maker video and it was good content. However, I missed a click. They didn't even bother to introduce themselves or show/say their names. Donu think it's unimportant that the audience don't know your name?

Hi, I know that RUclips does closed captions, but they’re not always grammatically correct. Would you like me to do yours? I’m not a scammer. I know this request looks bizarre, but I do my own and I don’t mind doing yours. Even the deaf should get your advice. I used to watch you on channel makers and I thought it was your channel. I really love what you do and I put your advice into my channel. You say everything in a way that is easy to understand because you also demonstrate it which is easy for me to do as a person who has a communication and learning disorder, it makes it easier to learn from someone like you. I’m so glad that you made your own channel. Keep up the good work.

Something I've tried to live by: "Direction is more important than position." If you are at the bottom, as long as you are progressing, then you are going to get there. If you are at the top, if you aren't growing, you'll soon be dropping off. So direction is more important than position.

Hi! I’m 50 plus, too, and my channel is growing very slowly but steadily. I popped on your channel looking for basic, user friendly, common tech issues, especially for us older folk, like how to use your iPhone calendar, how to use iPhone Notes, how to set phone reminders, how to send group texts, how to make a Zoom call, how to face the window/light when on camera and not sit with your back against the light, etc.😆 When exploring most of your video titles, I didn’t even know what these things were. They were so far over my head and unrelateable. Many of us older folk, unlike you, are way behind the tech ball and were not raised in the tech era, so we struggle! I believe your channel has great merit, but it seems to be marketed to the 2% of the 50 plus population who knows what you’re speaking of. If you modified your content to actually help the mature adult with simple, detailed, concise answers to everyday tech issues, I feel that you would get more traction. This is just my opinion, so please take what you like and discard the rest. All the best!🌻

(Sorry this is long but I'm kind of chocked up ;-) Gee, Nate what a fantastic way to end this video. That scene you shared (thank you) is exactly what we're all feeling for you, too. You see, I think that you're really getting to us here because so many YT businesses have a person at the core who broke away from a scene that wasn't truly fulfilling them (in our family, it was my husband and myself). I guess your viewers are kind of living vicariously through you, in a sense. You're on the "hero's journey" and we want to be on it with you. We've all had that point in our lives, too, where we had to face our boss and say, 'guess what? I'm leaving. Yeah, I really mean it.' And we know they'll replace us, but in that moment, it is a huge heroic moment in our personal lives. Or we finally dump that career that kept us bound to sleepless nights, sleeping pills, ulcers, or depression, and said, okay, I'm Cortez burning the bridges. I'm going forward, no matter what. You don't know how many breakfasts here at my place you've been the subject of conversation. My husband doesn't yet follow you online but he knows your name. I say "Nate" and he knows exactly who you are and all about what you are doing, because I've been telling him your story. I think your family must be pretty supportive to you. Same here in mine. I am honestly watching and wishing you so much success and (however you want to call it) - that universal love that one attracts when they put that same feeling out to others in the universe, and attracts it back. It's like a pendulum - when you put out honesty, kindness, and authenticity to others, they give it back to you. I think that is what is happening here. I will share your inspirational video with my husband this week. God bless you, Nate. Your friend Robin Bird.

"ACT AS IF..." is the first thing I was taught when I started selling insurance. It was one of the things the top sales people in my company told me... It's a good lesson. But I'm trying to find an audience that I'm not sure exists at all. (I just started a second channel and people my age are over 70) who are still aware of the important things going on in society and who have the time and curiosity to tune into RUclips in order to find out more... (politics - no, religion - no, science - yes, education - yes, music - yes...). I don't know where to start to even find the first picture. (And I was a researcher...) Help!

Look up Fran. I think she is targeting a similar audience. She also invents little things like the “Franocaster” or something like that? Anyway - that’s the first thing that popped in my head that would help… also, to keep in mind that yesterday’s “50-80” years old is not the same as today’s… the modern group in that range has a more generally humble approach. That generation spent a great deal of time doing a routine, but not an awfully large amount of time really learning or maturing in some other ways - but now they’re very interested in that kind of growth - I dare say more than any other generation, to be honest. They’re the most prominent commenters on videos, the nicest people, the most humble; they’re ready and willing to learn… almost without a matter about “politics” or “religion”; though, you will find the majority are common sense individuals in a general sense politically, but unfortunately easier to confuse spiritually, ironically owing to their humility (which actually ironically creates a pride in one’s own personal growth which is counter-productive to true spirituality, but I digress…)
TL;DR - treat that group like they’re 25 years old. Treat the 20-35 year olds like they’re 15. Treat the 35-50 year olds like they’re 80… and treat kids above 12 like they’re 20(minus sex or profanity) because those are the generational attitudes, basically; due to the confusion of society at so many levels….
Hope you do well, ma’am - and obviously I’m speaking my OPINION - I know your generation understands that, but the one directly following mine doesn’t(I’m 39); so I’m saying it aloud so I’m not accused of arrogance without context or whatever else might often occur…
I’m a researcher, too; but that’s just my way of life - not a career.

I just don't see them on RUclips so I have a hard time visualizing them and trying to guess how to create for that incredibly diverse audience is a big puzzle. I volunteered at the local library for several years and although we had a section for "young adults", we didn't have a section for "senior age adults"... why is that? I need to know. (lol...)

    • @TarzanHedgepeth
      @TarzanHedgepeth Год назад +1

@@nellies-taekook-journals Society will always dismiss the best of itself… because that generation is a mirror of what is and what could be and what should be (with a smattering of what should have been different; but just a little) - and people don’t want to wash their faces… and they’ll run with that LITTLE BIT that should have been different and use that as their deflection and excuse to be EXTREMELY wrong…
More based in the physical reality - maybe it’s your job to write down what a senior section should look like and what it should be filled with? If you can’t find it… make it! Maybe make that your channel focus for a while. What are YOU looking for when you are seeking a senior section? What images come to mind? Start there. I imagine some of that would be some philosophy and some war and some poetry, and grief and loss, and specific skill sets like singing and writing and painting, older music and biographies, genetics and ancestry, etc… but I don’t know for sure. I completely agree with this. I’ve noticed in the last year myself with my channel, that i haven’t been pushing myself the same way i have in the previous years, and this entire last year my channel has been kinda just staying in the same spot. But then this years I finally said I want to get things ready so my channel can look like I’m much larger. Ive also found a trick i can do in live video sense I’m faceless which I WANT to learn to do so it looks like a know what I am doing, and not just the average guy. And beyond that finally decided to use both stream and video format again, and that decision alone has helped so much. I went from 1-2 subs a month for the last 3-6 months to 34 this last 28 days. And views nearly quadrupled. Crazy what a simple perfective and what you do with it can change.

I watched this video a month ago, when I got 42 subscribers and like 5-10 wh.
Well I decided my audience already exists.
Additionally I stumbled on your shorts research video, so I just started posting shorts and realized your ideas were helping me understand how to navigate this fun space of learning and growing.
I was so ticked when I got 500 views on shorts, then up to 3.4K.
I’d just say what I see when I posted and it was the exact number I declared/decreed.
    What you see isn’t it.
    I am having fun

Good Morning, Nate. Such a powerful message you are sending with this video, and one that I truly needed to hear. I've been trying (for over a year) to get the courage to launch and have repeatedly talked myself out of it because of similar notions that you mentioned.Thank you for addressing this, for giving solid advice and also for sharing your raw reaction to the posting of your first video on your new channel - very moving. I shall now go forth with my ideas and even if they don't land exactly as I wish, I may just make a connection with someone else who needs to hear my message - it only takes one. Thank you for today's gift. Be well.

Just go for it. Don’t try for perfection. As my writing teacher told me, you can’t edit what doesn’t exist on paper. Just put something down and you’ll be surprised.
You have a great name and logo. And I love yarn. Like millions do.
When you post your first video, let me know and I promise to watch and comment.
When you are further along, you can unlist and edit again and experiment with new thumbnails and titles.

@@LilyGazou Thank you for your kind and insightful comment. Together with Nate, today you have taught me to look at things in a different light. In explaining my day to my husband, I came up with an analogy that describes what I've learned (using yarn as a unit of measure) and I really feel a lot better about the journey ahead. So much less intimidating. Thank you again.

Howdy Howdy Nate, I've been your silent audience for most of the time since I've subscribed to your other channel. As you've started this exciting new journey with this new channel, it just touched my heart that how courageous you and your family are to start something Big!
It's so nice that you seem so excited already doing this and being the Nate you really are. I agree with you that YT is about real people doing things that matter. Although my channel is very small, I'm passionate about the things that I've doing and I know even if there is 0 audience, I have my husband and my kids being my greatest supporters.
May you continue to shine and I look forward to seeing more growth from you, both big and small! Cheers!

The universe or the YT algorithm lol (which ever you prefer to believe) just led me to your video lol. HOLY COW you just mixed law of attraction and logic and made it practical for me to understand. I run a tarot reading YT and I have 27,000 subs but my videos only get a few hundred views bc most my audience comes from shorts. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how to grow my audience on my videos. This gave me confidence and the know how to keep moving forward...this is just good wisdom truly. Thank you very much and blessings 🙏

To be fair thou, you are a known face so that is an exponential factor in growth for the algorithm on a new channel.. I'm NOT taking away in any way from the work and rewards you getting on this channel but someone else with your exact knowledge wouldn't have your growth, I clicked only because it was you, I didnt even notice it was a separate channel until I was properly observing around the video frame.. lol..

So true. On our channel we have ALWAYS talked to the audience as if it's a huuuge audience... got the comments of "wow, this channel should be much bigger" or "can't believe this channel gets this little attention " around 6 months ago.
However, almost a year in it's still 100-200 people maximum watching the videos before the videos just flatline 😳 people seem to like the content, but we just don't reach the audience we want to reach and the algorithm isn't helping there... (it targeted completely the wrong audience the first 5-6 months, became better now, but now number of impressions are soooo looow....)
