    great video. I enjoyed sharing your adventure with you. Nice little island, bummer about the power plant ☹️. this summer i will be going headed to northern Michigan. We will kayak out to an island and spend a few days fishing around it. Watching your video has gotten me excited to go.

    Good video, that sound was the steam relief, which gets opened if the plant cannot condense enough steam to keep the turbines happy.

    How's the fishing ...what would 1 recommend ....how about making your own dried food get away from the pasta too much carbs ?????

    • @billdoms1579
      @billdoms1579  2 года назад

      The stretch has some fantastic small mouth fish. Some may even call it world class. As far as the food, I rely on a lot of calories and carbs on paddle trips so getting prepared meals is the easiest for me but I have friends who do their own and it works.

    We also have been paddling and camping on this Mississippi River from Clinton IOWA to Hannibal Missouri on 13th to 24th September 2015. We are 3-people as Japanese older men 64's 69's and 77 years old. MY handle name is "Arex in nara" of JAPAN. It's beariful video. Thank you!
    You have paddled at upper side of Mississippi River than us. We had to pass of some Lock Dam. How about situation of upper river you did them about paddling?

    • @billdoms1579
      @billdoms1579  7 лет назад

      There are a few dams on the upper Mississippi but I choose my paddle trips to to put in or take out at them to avoid portages.

    Im with Noir, not many videos out there. Go one here. Great job. Pity about the Power PLant. I did a couple trips just camping and took my kayak. Check them out. I,m in the middle of planning a Kayak trip here soon, California is very limiting ..LOL.
    Keep them coming. Love Minnesota. Going to come up and go kayak camping

    I’m a novice kayaker and looking to take a trip down the Mississippi do you have any resources to plan out your trip?
    Also is there a lot of white water ?

    • @billdoms1579
      @billdoms1579  2 года назад

      No white water. The MN DNR state water trails map is a good place to start. During low water years there are some rocks and bars to need to watch for. Any flow over 9000 CFM on that stretch is moving pretty good. Over 10k the current is very strong.

    Great video :) I was nervous when I saw how close the tent was to the fire lol. Those Canadian Geese can be loud at night sometimes honking. lol

    Mississippi is an unforgiving lady down here just south Friars Point MS. Sounded like a gas line blow down you heard.
