I have been a hardcore fan of MK my whole life. But the more I listen to the last solo albums, so more I wonder if I am a fan of MK, or if I am a fan of MK and Guy Fletcher.

I believe that I may have finally come of age because this tune has moved me to tears of joy, sorrow and understanding. Carry on knowing that you know good stuff when you hear it. Peace.

I'm 53 now. Heard it as a teen way back in 1985 Bombay-India. Instantly fell in love with it as watched it 1st time on The Wembly Live concert (on VHS). Watched it everyday for about a month. Still recall MK & his hero Hank Marvin. Their guitars talking back & forth (the intro). Post Dire Straits Mark has been & continues to be my Poet-Story telling songwriter & guitarist. Thank You Mark-Guy Fletcher. God bless you.
What a great version of this instrumental classic from Mark. And then, according to the cover, there were people like Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Slash and Brian May. Just awesome!
Congratulations to all involved. Poignant to hear Jeff Becks perfect introduction to the piece, said to be his last recording. But it's probably wrong to mention any individuals when it's a team effort. For those wanting a video, I don't think it will happen as it took 2 years of gradually added individual contributions to slowly construct this wall of sound. Maybe the best video would simply be to revisit the wonderful movie for which this is the theme.
Probably you are right and wise in stating that we should not individualise the different guitarists. But I cannot help that I am damned interested in knowing who and when ! 😅😂
Thank you for mentioning Jeff Beck. To many his individual guitar work can *seem* inaccessible, so hearing him start this song can help steer people to give him a listen. 😊
Dire Straits and then MK have kept my soul from burning out. His music and the wordsmith like words are my constant companion. My pets, Maya and Claire, calm down as soon as I put on his music! MK and everyone associated with his music composition, we thank you dearly!
Awesome music. Great to hear Hank Marvin at 3.45. In 1960 he started it all for the other guitarists to follow. Mark you have done a great job for charity.🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👌
I adore MK for always paying tribute to other musicians, and not just guitarists (hence, the inclusion of Ringo Starr on the photo -- but where in the world is Greg Lake. He too as a gifted guitarist, lyricists, singer, and human being. He was also very humble and enjoyed giving gifted new artists exposure (Florian Opahle, to name just one). I miss him like crazy, as I do so many of these legends. I just wish thy were all still with us. The music nowadays sucks.
I'm glad to see him again now! I (67) have been following his incredibly good, recognizable music (sound) since the very beginning! And of course his wonderfully matching voice! Even though we are all getting older and carrying the inconveniences of some serious illness, courageous Mark continues to work! Hats off to him for continuing to help and support other people especially the Teenager Cancer Trust!
MK's timeless instrumental "Going Home" brings me back to the Summer of 1983. After spending a long weekend in England with a friend of mine (classic guitar teacher) we took the ferry back home: from Harwich to Hoek van Holland (NL). On board the movie "Local Hero" was playing, starring Burt Lancaster. Just at the end of the film when our boat will reach the Dutch harbor "Going Home" was hearing. At that moment, wow what a perfect timing! Just that special feeling of being home soon... Thanks, Mark! (our local hero).
A beautiful, unique musical project for charity (Teener Cancer) by a humble guitarhero. Released in March 2024. With more than 60 international musicians, guitar legends. Chapeau, Mark Knopfler & Guy Fletcher !!!
Can’t say what’s already been said - wow. has to be one of the greatest instrumentals of all time. The musicians are real, genuine and you hear it coming through the music ….❤
Feeling nostalgic remembering Mark Knopfler always ending the shows with the beautiful tune Going Home. this new version is absolutely spectacular & how special having Jeff Beck’s recording at start of the track, congrats to Mark & all the amazing musicians 👏👏
Jeff Beck recognition is proof that he was the greatest guitarist on the planet, our loss that he was not fully appreciated by his own countries music industry.

Amazing. So many greats and you can still pick out most of the styles - especially Mark himself, Brad Paisley, Clapton, Dave Gilmour and the late, great, Jeff Beck. RIP and let's hope this raises the millions the cause deserves. Edit: and obviously Hank Marvin - nice to see him get such a prominent place in this
That was just amazing. I bought Duane Eddy's records in the late 50s. I hadn't realised he was still alive. My first exposure to rock guitar. I've been a fan of Knoffler and Beck since they started and it was great to hear Beck again. Knoffler in my view the best ever guitarist.
The original version is one of my all-time favourites. It’s almost a call for unity and peace. This is a great new version, but the purpose behind it is even greater!
The Original is one of my favourites aswell, I, remember being a kid, and my Dad introducing me to his favourite music, and the original was one of them, my Dad is no longer with us, but the fact this song is out there now, is amazing, and hopefully will bring attention to the original.

Still recall MK & his hero Hank Marvin. Their guitars talking back & forth (the intro). Post Dire Straits Mark has been & continues to be my Poet-Story telling songwriter & guitarist. Thank You Mark-Guy Fletcher. God bless you.
Once again, music - and those who play it- affirming that, despite everything, LIFE IS GOOD!!❤
The 'track of my years' for so many reasons, thank you.
What a great version of this instrumental classic from Mark. And then, according to the cover, there were people like Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Slash and Brian May. Just awesome!
Nobel Prize of Peace
Simply amazing. I always put the complete Local Hero album when return from holidays from Cadiz in Andalucia to my home in Bilbao in Basque Country.
Thanks for all. I have cancer and love your music🙏🎶
🙏💗Bless you💗🙏
Love from Norway ❤❤❤❤. Get well. Fuck cancer
Hear hear!
Guy Fletcher confirmed that there will be a video. Next week.
Probably you are right and wise in stating that we should not individualise the different guitarists.
But I cannot help that I am damned interested in knowing who and when ! 😅😂
@@progmeuppresumably a mash up of each artist recording their respective parts I'd imagine
Thank you for mentioning Jeff Beck. To many his individual guitar work can *seem* inaccessible, so hearing him start this song can help steer people to give him a listen.
😊
I've loved the Local Hero soundtrack since I first heard it. This version is phenomenal!
Danke Mark Knopfler, ein wunderschönes Gitarren 🎸 🎸 Stück ein Traum ,wenn es einer KANN DANN SIE MARK ❤🌹👏
Thanks Mark Knopfler.... Jeff Beck brings me to tears as well.
Whether you like mark knopplar ,dire straits, the film or just the song you’re gonna just love this new version,I love all four.
I am a geordie living in Belgium, and this will have to be played at my funeral, along with brothers in arms
It's only rock and roll but I like it, a whole lotta talent in this masterpiece!
Class is Permanent they said...Mark is the walking proof of it !!!

I've loved this song since forever. ❤❤❤❤❤❤♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
There is no words... I can only say... thank you Mr. Knopfler. Thank you.
On the list for my funeral😍
Wow wow wow. Already bought it, and thereby supporting the 2 the charity organisations, Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America.
Peace Nobel Prize Award nominee?
For you Woz. Been two years. Miss ya buddy!
I didn’t know Woz but I know the pain of losing friends x
Magical. As much credit is due to the editing and mixing crew as the players. Piecing this together would not have been easy!
What a breath of fresh air, no shredding just notes played for the song. Awesome. Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen
Only Mark could get all these people to play.
We are lucky to be able to listen to such music
Cool project. 👍 What about a Videoscreen Version from the DAW to see who is playing the parts? 😘
@@khutch29 yes I agree with you, I hope that it will bring attention to the original one...
Fantastic tune - I love my home city of Newcastle and this song makes me proud to say I am from Newcastle. Great cause too!! ❤❤
0:03 seconds in and you immediately know who this is... No words needed.
R.I.P Guv'nor.
Waiting for the video of this masterpiece ❤🇵🇹
I appreciate your love and support ❤️ where are you from?
