    Scary moment when you start the engine and there's no oil in the sight glass! You must have put the bike on the side stand off camera

    I wonder what the purpose is of the cable hose thing that goes from the right side oil filter to a electric valve ?
    Great video thanks

      It provides oil to the top end.

    Your procedure is slightly incorrect, follow the owners manual and remove all filters and screens leaving the drain plug out. You'll end up with more residual dirty oil in the engine by reinstalling the drain plug when you did. On my stock 2012 Duke I drop the centre box off to change the oil.I found KTM genuine filters are no more expensive, possibly even cheaper than hiflo in the UK.

      Hiflo is better ;) also it is one of first steps to replace the stock air filter with k&n. You are right about the drain. I lock it always after everything is ready, then addup 0,5l of pre-heated fresh oil as a flush and drain it once more. This allows all the junk from the bottom to flow out. Also i always start changing the oil when its hot (not warm). This gives much better results.

      @@boguslav1479 I disagree hiflo is any better than KTM genuine filters. I've had both but would chose factory over hiflo. K&N is a waste of time and money on the airfilter in my opinion.

    Are those filters the same part #'s? I wish you had the stock exhaust on there its way more of a pain in the ass.

      No, they are different part numbers. When i get a chance ill find and post the part numbers. I have changed the oil twice with the stock exhaust and your right it is a pain in the ass!

    would you recommend the 1190 adventure to someone who has only ridden a maxi scooter before for 4 years? im so in love with this bike (the 1190 not the duke^^)

      i would recommend the 1190 adventure to almost anyone, its a great bike! One of its downfalls is its seat hight. If your a shorter ride, it can be challenging at stops and on off road sections ( if you choose to take it off road).

      im 1.86m so this shouldnt be too much a problem... my only concern is its rideability in city traffic; how does it handle low speed situations? jerky, smooth? does rain mode work in reducing the engines jerkiness?

    • @TheBarneyRoss
      @TheBarneyRoss  7 лет назад

      its pretty smooth at low rpm. and I've only had it in rain mode once and it was on the freeway at high rpm, so I'm not sure how much it changes at low rpm.
