I bought a 2015 Yamaha Viper rtx le and had a push turbo put on , And let me tell you. This thing really halls the mail, I was out on the trail and came upon a piped Polaris Rush 800. We went from a dead stop I pulled him by 6 to 10 sled lengths all the way up to top end,and when we stop to talk, all he said was " Wow that things got plenty of motor"!!!" What did you do to it?" And it kills the Artic cat turbo out of the hole to about 106 mph. At 106 hell slowly walk past me and his lie dometer reads 116.The Cat has me by 1 or 2 mph on the top end.And I only have about 350 miles on my viper
    Extremely Happy with it!

Performance damper isn't for ride quality but instead for reduced wear and chassis/frame durability

Just saying, some had starter issues. I went through 4 belts and switched to the 8 DN. Chain case leaks, and adjustments, reverse.even though there was a update. I liked mine and it was a stage 1 turbo with intercooler. Fast handled great. But I had the SE and it was a rough ride! The new ones have much better shocks. Mine was a 2014 LTX SE

These sleds are terrible! I own a Yamaha Viper with a MPI 180 kit 162'' track and it is a waste of money and time. When trying to climb any size hill (yes, hill not mountain) the machine goes into a limp dick mode sensing "low oil" and therefore shuts all little power the machine has off and leaving you in a bad situation. Yamaha doesn't have a fix for this issue. It's been 7 months and a wasted winter and summer of fighting them with little to no progress. Not to mention, they knowingly sold me this machine that has this issue without telling me about it. They sold me a shit sled that won't go up a hill when it is made to be able to go up mountains. If you are reading this trying to gather information on buying a Yamaha, I would save your money and go with another brand. I would not waste your time dealing with Anchorage Yamaha or in fact any Yamaha dealership. Their machines are a waste and their company has terrible integrity.
    Thanks,
    A seriously unhappy customer

Casey Liljedahl I would like to inform you that that issue was taken care of for the 2016 models. What they did was change the oil tank which will now allow you to climb without any worry, not sensing low oil while climbing. However, if you do roll it make sure you give it a few moments to settle before trying to start it or you'll more then likely drain your battery if you keep trying to roll it over. Simply just take a moment and enjoy the surrounding view. I would definitely look into it further as the 2016 models are moving further into what a snowmobile should be.I would like to note: We did run into that problem with a customer last year and worked with them. What we did was go just above the oil level mark with oil and problem was solved for our customer. Again though that issue has been resolved for the 2016 models. Feel free to search it more if interested. Best Regards

Casey Liljedahl there's also available a different oil tank for those models and ecu flash. so if your still running that sled try doing that and problem solved.

+Casey Liljedahl I have a 15 viper ltx 137 and I climb lots of steep hills, not more than a couple hundred feet high tops. Is it the turbo kit that caused it or the sled because I never had any issues, or is it over long climbs. Mine never take more than 4 or 5 seconds tops

WARNING!!!The new machine is impressive, however, there are big troubles headed Yamaha's way and for anyone who got the MPI trail turbo deal. any viper chassis built after Feb 2015 have a new revised engine with weak connecting rods. they're soft as butter. they can't handle any boost at or above 5 PSI. they will die if you ride them hard. To top it off the MPI kits came with mis-programmed boost controllers and they are hitting these new engines with 7+ lbs of boost and BOOM! enjoy your winter from the cabin because you just got screwed by some poor engineering. I know I got one, waited all summer now I'm just sick.they're will be more info to come out but Yamaha and MPI has known about this for a month or so with no resolution out yet. My dealer never called me to let me know I could be over boosting and doing damage. left it up to they're customers to figure it out. #$%^&*()! I pray Yamaha steps up and makes this right. this seasonal sport is so short

+The Jackal How did you find out about the weak con rods? And the exact manufacture date that the problem started? I am ooking at purchasing the mpi boost kit and would lie to verify mine wont be affected. I bought my sled in Dec 14 but it is a model year 15

      Steve M
Yamaha is letting they're customer blow up the engines that went out with weak rods. Yamaha is blaming MPI for over boost how ever they are blowing with stock MPI trail turbos with 5psi. Yamaha should step up and put better rods in any customers machine they sold a factory turbo kit to. It would seem that not all of them were built with soft metal. The engines built after Feb of 2015 have the new revised 1049cc and any built before Feb of 2015 are the engines safe to boost. Some tests have shown not all of the late build rods are soft as well. They must have had a bad run of parts. the new engine is weaker and they built a stronger one for 2017 to use a turbo. GO Figure Yamaha! Your build date is on the decal on the end of the tunnel. good luck
