Just found a way to do it. 1. You yours be logged into gdrive so that gdrive is showing as a location inside the "File" app. 2. Now press and hold the folder that you want to upload till the menu comes up. 3. Select "move" option. (Don't worry it won't move the original folder from its location) 4. From the location option window select gdrive option (or the subfolder under that) Thats all!!
You can go to your browser and access google drive directly at drive.google.com which gives you download by folder or file. When downloaded using Safari browser, the files are accessed with the circled down arrow (download) icon on the top right.

If I am in google drive I can access my share drive but I can only send or attach one file at a time? This is very frustrating if you want to send multiple files in one email as attachments. I'm a traditional Android fan & user. But i'm looking to get an iPad mini 5 as it has the stylus that I heard has many functionalities. May i ask have you had any new updates to the app lately? Are you able to view all your Google Drive apps within the Files app? Is it flexible enough in terms editing any folder names, creating a folder, moving files from one folder to another, copy & paste functions, etc.? Or would you still stick to the Android version? And does iOS allow G-Suite apps to multitask as in side to side?
Multi platform with ios sucks. I have android phone, PC and Ipad Pro… 1- You can see everything from the Files, but the best is to open on Safari. On files preview is slow even for pdf docs, and sometimes it won’t preview. Chrome for ios is only a safari skin with less functions, so go for Safari. There’s a drive app but it too has less functions than just using safari. 2- No apps. 3- You can do some, but it sucks 4- You can open 2 apps on iOS, and it’s simple to swipe between the last two with four fingers (or app switcher, or dock). Apple stuff is made to lock you into the ecosystem and I hate that. I use android phone and PC, but ipad pro 12.9 is the best big screen tablet, and as a musician the best sound apps are only for iOS unfortunately. I use it to edit videos too, but it sucks if you film it with the android phone. I use Zapya app to transfer directly. iCloud is the best within the ipad, Gdrive require some things to be set up mannually and if you offload your photos I think it loses the album information. iCloud keeps it all organized… I got 1tb of personal videos on my iPad… I’m looking into making Amazon ASW work for me somehow! No perfect solution that I have found and I’m not getting an iphone and mac.

The thing is-Google limits the available features on their iPad apps! Good thing the iPad Pro is extremely fast. It's much more convenient for me to use google drive on safari in my ipad pro. Even the Google Docs on the ipad is horrible. Safari makes everything better.

Question from a Windows user looking at iPad move ... When you create a new Doc file or Sheet file, it is automatically saved to the root directory of Google Drive. Is that correct? If you then create a folder (eg AAA) and move the file to folder AAA If you click that file in folder AAA to edit, it saves it back to folder AAA location Is that the basic process to keep subjects in folders?
2 tips: Create the folder, then hit the add icon to create a file. The file will be created in that folder and not the root. Secondly, I would suggest using Drive in the Safari browser instead of the dedicated app as it has a lot more functionality.

You can’t merge Google drives - the easiest option would be to share files from one account to the other. Or you can switch between the accounts in the app.

There is a way, but it’s a bit annoying to do. Tap the three dots, choose ‘Open in’. When it finishes exporting and the share sheet comes up choose to save it to files. Open the files app, find the file, tap it, click the share icon, then choose add to photos.

Yes the google drive (gd) app caches files on your ipad even though you have not instructed it to make the files available offline. It also builds an index of your entire gd and stores it on the ipad. If you go to the gd app and then shutdown your online wifi and or cellular, you will find most recent accessed files are still accessible while older files are greyed out. Even without any files designated as available offline. Apparently ios will dump files for space when needed but it may keep your storage almost filled. I have read that uninstalling and then reinstalling will clear the cache.
I checked deleting the google drive app and then reinstalling it on my ipad. It cleared the gd cache with no loss of files or folder structures. In my case it added over for gigs of space on the ipad.
Thanks but I don’t see a shortcut for downloading to the IPad from Drive, it is impossible the iPad is a total piece of shit in my humble opinion and I have the Pro versaion, thankfully I didn’t pay for it.

Why the hell isn't 'Download' an option for Google Drive files on iPad?

Save to files then save to photos, but it won’t go to it’s original album. Only iCloud can apparently do that unfortunately.
