    For anyone curious the alarms are Simplex 4051s on 4058-80 light plates and the pulls are Simplex 4251-30s

    • @tkproductions2019

    • @cricketvisual7301
      @cricketvisual7301 9 месяцев назад

      @@tkproductions2019 Correction: Those pulls are the 4099-9002. The 2099-9799 is a conventional model of this t-bar generation break glass pull stations, however when he opens the pull station there is an IDNet module on the back which indicates that it is in the 4099 series, and since it doesn't have a visual light it is the 9002 and not the 9005.

    The school I went to for kindergarten used to have those old Simplex 4051+4050-80 horn/lights, too. Pretty loud! They had a Simplex 4010 system tied into an old 4208 panel. Unfortunately, the old Simplex system failed early this year, so they replaced it with a Notifier system with your run-of-the-mill SpectrAlert Advances.
    Interesting seeing them active with the lights on steady. I know on older Simplex systems that used them (4207s and 4208s, for instance), they usually set up the NAC circuits so the horns would sound on Continuous while the lights would flash on and off.

    • @aidanthetoiletelevatorfire7554
      @aidanthetoiletelevatorfire7554 2 месяца назад +2

      Yeah, they are incredibly loud! I believe the other alarms are QuickAlerts; the 4 Wire Selectable Free Run and Syncable versions with model numbers of Simplex 4903-9425, 4903-9426 or 4903-9427. That depends on the candela.

    • @ZakWolf
      @ZakWolf 2 месяца назад

      @@aidanthetoiletelevatorfire7554 The early versions of those are QuickAlerts; later on they simply became non-addressable TrueAlerts. They probably installed it that way due to the trophy case that was probably there before the Simplex 2001 system was installed. I remember seeing a Simplex 4051+4050-80 installed that way in a team locker/strategy room in my college's Field House building, because it was mounted right above gym lockers. Other 4050-80s on the campus were installed the usual way, with the light on the bottom (though they were Simplex 4207 systems installed in 1978.)

    I have a few questions to ask you safetech 1 how long does it take to test a fire alarm system. 2 if you were testing the system and a fire happens at the same time what happens the alarm will sound but people know it a test and not the real thing 3 I may asked this before but why do u do walk test why can't you leave the system in normal mode while testing I want to hear the signals whole time Durning testing and 4 what the loudest system you ever ever heard and the last question has the alarm ever scare you when testing ?

    • @safetech
      @safetech  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Stephen thanks for your comment.
      1. The length of time varies depending on the size of the building, number of devices, issues encountered while testing, ect. Inspections can little as a couple hours ranging to days and weeks at a time.
      2. Believe it or not this has happened to me before. Luckily it was during a lunch break and it didn’t cause much interference. While working on a system, I usually have a way of knowing if an alarm is received in an area I’m not testing. If this occurs, I would investigate to see if it was a legitimate alarm.
      3. Walk-test has multiple benefits. It allows single person testing with minimal disturbance. Many people become distraught if I let the audibles sound the entire time. Therefore I try to limit that as much as I can. There are times however where the setting requires me to do this. Just not every time.
      4. Most all fire alarm systems are loud. I have fooled with many different types I would consider noisy and some not noisy enough. Having seen and heard so many I’m unable to give you a direct answer to this.
      5. For your last question the answer is no not really. Mabye on a couple of rare occasions however referring back to my last answer I have worked on these systems for quite awhile to the point where it doesn’t bother me much.

    Nice Oldie. Is the 4100U the original panel? Some of those older Horns/Lights seem that they wouldnt have been the 4100U's era. I thought the horizontal rectangular Hornstrobes (The ones that came before truealert line) were 4100U era

    • @msj191961
      @msj191961 9 лет назад +1

      +JMAN123436 Definitely not the original panel. Most of the devices sound like Simplex 4051's. There was most likely a 2001 panel or something similar here. Some devices are newer though, like that 2099 or 4099 pull station and the TrueAlerts.

    • @ZakWolf
      @ZakWolf 9 лет назад

      +msj191961 It looks like the school was built way back in the middle of the last century (maybe up to the '50s.) Then the 4051+4050-80s were installed during a fire alarm upgrade in the '70s on a Simplex 4207, 4208 or even a 2001 system.

    • @safetech
      @safetech  8 лет назад +1

      2001 was the original panel to this system which later upgraded to a 4100 with the addition of a wing where you briefly heard the 9840's towards the end of this vid. A 3rd addition was renovated when at that time the U panel came along

    • @ZakWolf

    • @embeddedgirl
      @embeddedgirl 8 лет назад +2

      The older panel most likely failed an inspection and was replaced with all the original equipment left installed, no sense replacing everything if it's just the panel that failed.

    • @ZakWolf
      @ZakWolf 8 лет назад

      I've seen many examples of that. At my friend's university, the art center had those same old Simplex 4051+4050-80 horn/lights from the 1970s, but the panel was a Simplex 4002 from the late 1980s or early 1990s, next to an abandoned and gutted 4208 cabinet (the old 4208 probably failed, so they replaced it with the 4002, but kept all the old stuff intact, in addition to installing some new smoke detectors.)

    • @ZakWolf
      @ZakWolf 5 лет назад

      And now the 4051 horns at that art center are gone; they slapped TrueAlert horn/strobes onto the 4050-80 light plates when they replaced the 4002 panel with a Simplex 4007ES a few years back. But they kept the existing 4251-30 break-glass pulls and 2098-9201 smoke detectors.

    • @cricketvisual7301
      @cricketvisual7301 9 месяцев назад

      It is likely that the panel was upgraded for a certain reason and it is cost effective to leave the older horns grandfathered into the system than to upgrade them. In this reason, the panel got upgraded due to the building having an expansion, which is one of the common reasons older systems get their panel upgraded. Likely the 4100U was installed and the expansion areas got new devices while the older areas had their devices grandfathered.
