I Dunno About These LS Motors, Seems Like A Fad-1957 Chevy 4 Door To 2 Door Conversion Get's A Heart

- After stripping all the good parts of Dani's 1957 Chevy Belair (and catching hell over it in the comments). It was immediately time to RE-INSTALL it in my base model 57 Chevy Black Widow.
The 6.0 liter was originally pulled from an Escalade and will be controlled by a Holley Terminator X. I decided to upgrade the transmission with a rebuilt turbo 400. This way, if we add boost down the road, the drive line can handle it.
Custom motor and trans mounts were installed to make the new LS motor feel right at home between the rails of this 57 Chevy. A low clearance oil pan and mid length headers finish off the install.
Should make for a fun driver.
Now tell me in the comments how I did it wrong.....
Also buy a shirt so I can buy more hood scoops:

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DANNI, Mine was Oct. 3rd, my wife's Oct.4th . We are all Libra babies . I love how the car is going together and keep up the great work and God Bless you guys and your families.
i just got to say your work ethics are above phenomenal.........
It wouldn't be DD Speed Shop without Dan, flip-flops, Mur, sandals, Dani and the dogs. The Black Widow is going to be sweet!! Cheers!! 🤓
Your the hardest working guy on you tube it’s amazing how you can put junk together and make it cool only wish we were friends
I never feel bad about my chaos after watching Dan's madness. 🤣👍 The finese taken in the front clip remove install is so awesome 👌
So gentle like holding a baby 😂
Haha thabks buddy
It's a little late, but last time I put in a full front clip in one piece, I used my engine hoist and it worked like a charm. It was a solo effort start to finish.
Yup. I thought the same thing. A 2x4 and a eye bolt through the middle.
Thanks again for the transmission 😎😎
I already know it... This is gonna be my favorite build!! Or at least a tie with the 55 Gasser, 57 Belair, 57 Ragtop, Green Dodge Satellite, Racecar Challenger, Model T hot rod, 71 C10... You get the point!! Keep up the solid work!!
I really like watching you guys figure out what is fubar as you go. Hitting wiper motor hitting steering cross bar. Sharing the struggle as it happens is what makes you so popular. These builds are fun but they suck. They suck for you so we should quit whining about how it sucks for what we are working on and get back to wrenching! I love this show
Watching you and this channel brings back great memories of the seventies with my hot rod buddies!
Thanks Joe!
That grill bar looks good with no breaks. Careful it is delicate . sure is rare to see one unbroken. Thanks, you guys are great!
Yeah I thought the same thing
Loved the whole family was involved in this video. Dan I sure wish you would take 15 minutes and some square tubing and make a front clip adapter to lift off front clips with your engine hoist. That would save future Dan’s back and less damage to the front clip
I would suggest using a big ass piece of cardboard on the floor to minimize scuffing of the front clip.
Hey Dan, Your neighbor Mur has to be one of the nicest neighbor to have. Seems like no matter what your doing and need a hand, he's there for you. You couldn't ask for a better friend and neighbor. Love all your videos and builds. Take care and be safe.
😂 murr is his dad
Lol! What a cool neighbor, lol! Almost like family, hahaha!
Yeah hes a pretty good neighbor
You made pulling the clip look way easy
Dan, you are doing a great job on all of the mounting brackets and installation hardware. It looks like it’s going to be a trouble free dependable driver. Thanks for sharing your build with us.
👊😎👍
Great to see Mur being awesome! Happy Birthday Dani my favorite of the three idiots.
The sound Dan makes at 29:30😂😂
I come here to watch dan struggle on things so I don’t feel bad for my projects going south a swearing 😂 it’s like comfort food ! Cool build so far 👍
I just worry about his back. I messed mine up when I was young. I thought I could lift everything without anyone's help. But now I can lift nothing
It's always a struggle ironing out problems...took me 10 years to get my 56 150 back on the road...today...can't wait to see what the next problem will be...LOL.
I've been operating on a budget...like you...for 50 years...it's in your blood..LOL
Money is hard to find haha
Danni: "How will you get it back on?" Dan: "I dunno know, I'll figure it out..." Me: You always do!
Next on DD speed shop , a huge garage burnout with Frankie .
Happy belated Birthday to Dani. And keep the videos coming. I wish I was half as laidback as Dan is.
Hey guy I love your channel, just bought a 55 belair 4 dr sedan,i have done the 4-2 conversion twice, came out real nice, but the car is about the nicest 55 I’ve seen so the will keep it and try to find another one I really love your channel keep it up ,kc
Hell yeah! Right on kevin
I still have 2 Harwood snorkel scoops from the 70s. Still in the boxes. With stickers!!!
That's sweet!
I have a couple tri-fives. a 57 with a worked 283, and a 56 4 door wagon with a 265. I don't hate on the LS community, but there is something charming about oldschool small cubes. love the content!
I have 3 ss commodores with LS motors, they go,BUT they are a as ugly as hell, at least with the older motors you can " dress " them up with some chrome plated parts 👍👍👍
Yup, same opinion about LS motors and all wires, computer box..and fugly looking engine with no eye-candy at all...
Prefer a 327, all painted up properly, powder coated intake & valve-covers, just right on a old classic like this.
That front end practically installed itself😂👍
Like the Red Green show safety ads
Hi Danni and Dan, Dennis here from Filer, Idaho USA. Here to watch another show on the black widow rebuild. Thank you
I fitted a ls 5.7 into a Mercedes sprinter van what a challange that was never again the son can do the next engine swap im getting to old lol . When you see show cars with beautiful paint around the engine makes you wonder how they get the engine in place without scratching any surfaces !
I would have put the cross member bolts in from the outside in, so you don't have to see the bolts and nuts on the outside. Plus if you ever take it out you have to pull the bolts all the way out. Keep up the great videos.
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
That looked like fun!!!! Happy birthday Dani....!!!!
Big effort but a major accomplishment. You should be pleased how its coming along. Will be a super vehicle when you are finished. Good work.
HOLLEY has an entire dash for its EFI setup. It's huge I saw Finnagin's garage install one, a few months back they are awesome!
The fellow helping you must be an old ford engineer he likes the hammer tool.
Hahahaha
DD SPEED SHOP 😎 RULES!!! All hail to the Queen
Going to be driving soon
Great job and video. Happy birthday Dani... 👍👍🇨🇱
Well, you could always do what Mike Finnegan did to his '55! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Seriously, you're doing fine, you got my lazy butt off the couch & into the shop again. That one quote from your buddy about doing just 1 thing a day adds up got my blood pumping again! Miss the '55 though!
Dragging the front end on the concrete was like nails on a chalkboard to me.
What would you expect - you came here to see a garbage build and Dan never lets us down - there is no good side to his builds - It's his and he's just having fun,
@@johnhere6058 ouch
Consider: Locate ,install, a screw eye in the ceiling and put a pully on it. Such a Snatch Block on the ceiling should then use the shop winch to better advantage. Bo.
I'm Glad the Jack stands didn't fall again
This is my favorite car of all of them
Yes, you did help Dani, even if Dan was making off with your car’s good bits! Do you leave the cordless drill there Dan? Enough teasing, that’s another really interesting episode, thanks!
"Done like dinner."
"And I helped!"
Dani is the Canadian version of the Shake & Bake girl!
Good job, guys!
Haha she gives er
some things never change... puttin it in and takin it out and puttin it in again. It seems like a never ending process but hell its fun so keep doing as your doing.
Just goes in & out , an in&out, an in & out momma's got a squeeze box daddy never sleeps at night
Story of my life haha
Holly's lowrider LS oil pan has a little more finger room that help with removing the filter
Nice work on the tranny mount-hole sleeve and grind . That’s sexy. I learned something
Happy Birthday Dani
Some good reliable heavy duty jack stands 💪
I learned something from precision transmissions here on RUclips. He's the Premier American car and teeruk transmission builder. He says make sure to space the torque converter into the pump, but not too tight
like the porridge, just right
U have the coolest disposition while that engine/tranny resists with every once of heavy coldass steel effort it can!!
I like your helper. Puts up a hand to keep it from falling on her while you suffer. It's hard to find good help these days. HA HA. Ronnie.
Dirty Dingo hardware is high quality and fits everything PERFECT. I know budget builds well, but taking a whole afternoon the messing around and guesswork out of an install is very worth spending $100 on the front end to me. For tighter installs, Dirty Dingo makes some really slick billet truck accessory relocation kits- they're tons cheaper than getting a different crank pulley, cast GM brackets, and Corvette or Camaro accessories to clear on different chassis
I agree with Dani @ 17:25…
I was just thinking; “good thing Mur has his steel toed safety sandals on!!!” 😂
Keep up the good work Dan! Your determination and drive is incredible!
Happy belated B-Day Dani!
Larry, Mur and Curly done it !!!!
Happy late birthday Dannie another great video Dan
You know, the camera on a tripod, for short periods of time, would enable Dani, to help.😃
She knows that. I think that's why it wast on the tripod haha
@@DDSpeedShop 😁
Dan really looks like Thor swinging that hammer around.
I'm liking this build !! 👍👍🐿️
Agreed! If you can do it anyone can. Except for your welding skills which are superb. I could do all that work but the welding ....Not so much. Great job Dan.
Your anti crush sleeves that you put it for your transmission mount is a great idea. I've done the past I'm glad to see the new kids nowadays are still doing it.
Haha hey thanks man!
Nice looking engine, can’t wait to see the maiden voyage .😎
You are one knuckle busting hard working dude 👍
Thanks Mike!
Motor installation jackstand Jimmy approved
Can’t wait to see how she turns out gonna be a ripper
As Peg would say the removal and reinstallation of that front clip was f#@ken Mint
Looking good this is going to be a nice daily driver. 👍😎✌️
Murr taking his time is worth watching an extra O'Reilly auto parts add 😂
Haha thanks J
Like I said before I had a 71 Ford truck and instead of drilling holes in the frame I just wrapped with a ratchet straps to crossmember down and forgot about it for 15 years yes when I ended up changing the transmission I did put a new ratchet strap on it
If you only had a 3 car garage for two car projects and parts storage for the two builds. Parts are hard to get now days, so when something comes in you can show us working on the install for the current parts. Could make things much less stressful in keeping us entertained with new or current projects. Your the type of neighbor with projects that ya just can't find anymore.
Hey Dan, You said, "if I can do it anybody can do it". The problem is, you make it look to easy. Nothing ever goes easy for me. lol
Haha its never easy
Is it "Danger Danger Speed Shop" 🤣🤣🤣👍
That apple didn't fall far from the tree.
Happy Happy Birthday Dani....Hope it was a Wonderful Day!🤩
Iam certainly a LS fan but somehow I’ve become a big block 4 speed guy since the Impala build and now the new to me 55 project. I already had a 454 and 4 speed bought before I even had the 55.
Good thing those weren’t HarborFreight jack stands! LoL
Hahaha
Pile of work gettin done! Great to see Mur over for the struggle! So does this seem like Deja Vu? Hahaha! Doing good Dan, she will be SWEET!
Happy late birthday hope you had a wonderful birthday my birthday is tomorrow October 4
Looking sweet! I love the "adding to the patina" way of thinking. I'm gonna adopt that into my build process 😂🍻
Dan you can't have a show car cause you're right the chrome doesn't hold up well to concert. Ihave been watching for a while and it's been very entertaining great content.
Well that wasn't as bad going in. Its coming along really well. Thanks for sharing Dan . Hey Mur and Dani
Although I didn’t watch this great vid until Oct 4th here in Oz I would like to wish Danni the very best for her birthday 🎉🎉❤️
The very 1st video I watched , You was sitting on the garage floor, feet crossed wearing sandals changing the brakes on the red 57 give away ! LOL
Haha my happy place
Another beauty mate
You should use the engine hoist and some straps to put the front end on and off.
Come on now- lets get the house/property for Dani, and the 5 car garage for Dan- you are at 77k subs!!!
Like A 🤦😡🤬🤬🤬😥😢🤬🤬💪💪🤏🤏😮💨☺️ glove.
As much as you use that hoist you need a jack that pumps on the up and down stroke. I love mine it's twice as fast and less work.
Happy birthday queen D
a 2 wheel dolly makes it easy to move the front clip around. a piece of plywood makes it easy to slide the clip back onto the car
This must be how the factory did it back in the day 😂
I didn’t know the factory had ls engines back in 1957.
Oh for sure
Tickity boo! Nice Peep show reference!
Happy Birthday, Dani! Hope it was a great one.
😀
Another beautie is coming to life to ride again.
Looking good! Why didn’t you paint the frame and fire wall if your going to be driving it in the winter! You put so much hard work into it!
Thanks Shannon!
Safety fir....NAH....GIMME A HAMMER!....my kina' guy.
Should of used those fancy engine mounts to move the engine forward for some clarence :)
Danni, happy belated birthday!!!
