TBH im a 20 yr old guy and sometimes i really do need specifics bc my head is in a different space and i just won't read between the lines or think about anything beyond the task as written/spoken. in situations like these both of you should be more aware of each others mental state but i agree that you're NTA bc if he IS like me in this way he needs to own up to it instead of pushing blame and do what he can to remedy it bc its a serious flaw.
