    Follow several fishing channels and you're my favorite. Honestly, one of only 2 that I care to watch anymore. Good technical insight and understanding, attained from a lifetime of fishing clearly. Humble, easy going, avid fisherman. And probably the best catch line of all time, dance, Houston and all....."Go fishing when you can, cause it's goooood for ya". Keep up the great work!

    You just get a little extra adrenaline flowing when somebody[those 3 guys in the bass boat,2 of them with orange blaze caps on], comes by and you nail one or two or three. That was also a nice touch of giving that guy your fish. Now that makes you feel really good! Keep up the quality videos.

    Hey Richard, never watch much on RUclips but I've become addicted to your channel. I like the way you talk about what your doing and even though I live in Texas you techniques has helped me catch more crappie. I also like your reviews on the different tackle and how you rig up to catch crappie in different situations. I truly enjoy watching your show. GO FISHING WHEN YOU CAN, CAUSE IT'S GOOD FOR YA!!!

    Richard you have inspired me to start crappie fishing. I have always been a bass fisherman and brim with a cane pole and crickets. I went and spent about 500 dollars on rods and reels and jigs for me my wife and two boys. Me and my oldest boy went earlier this week but had no luck. We live around Mobile, AL area and fish the river delta down here. A lot of people are catching them but we had no luck. Started out fishing with a slip cork and jig. Ended up taking the cork off and trying to slow roll just the jig as it appears you did in this video. The problem I had was almost every cast I would get hung up on the cover under the water. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong. We were fishing in a creek off the main river in water about 3 feet on the bank to 8 or 9 feet in the middle. I'm frustrated to say the least. I absolutely love your videos and I'm going to stay with it until I learn what I'm doing. Any advice you could give me on technique/tactics would be greatly appreciated. I was using a 1/8 oz jig with a sienkel hook and a bobby garland black and chartreuse jig body. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to more videos.

    • @RichardGeneTheFishingMachine
      @RichardGeneTheFishingMachine  7 лет назад +1

      in this situation I would down size your jig to 1/32oz and use 4lb test line. After you do this go try that again and you will be successful!! the 1/8oz is to heavy for that depth of water it keeps the jig on the bottom. Crappie are up feeders they will only hit it if its slow and above them. Thats why the light er jig will help you be more successfull! Thank you for watching Jason!

    Richard Gene you are the man. I've watched your videos all week on my lunch break and cant wait to try out your techniques this weekend here in NC. My boat doesn't have a depth finder yet so i struggle with determining water depth, shad location, temperature and underwater structure. Do you have any advice for lake fishing from a boat without using a depth finder? What should i look for to help me find the crappie? Thanks for your time.

    • @RichardGeneTheFishingMachine

    Going to be my first year really going after crappie. I fished as a child with my buddies dad. With tube jig, vertically and some minnows. We always left out of HoneyComb. I have piddled around with out much luck but studying up and learning as much as I can. I may be wasting my time letting out at HoneyComb. I am still learning my depth finder using a Lowrance Hook5, not finding a lot of cover in that area, I am sure it is there though. I would love to pick your brain sometime! Thanks for the video!

    Yo Richard, you ever see or heard of a late 1950's movie, about a reporter , who goes to witness, photograph and write about a fishing tournament, who ends up wth a fishing rod in his hands and also wins the tournament by accidental catches of Large bass ? Don't know the name. A not so well known classic it seems.

      I was fishing for suspended fish catching them about 5 to 6 foot deep under the surface. By using my depth finder i could stay on the edge of the creek channel. Thanks for watching Randolph2k7. If you have anymore questions let me know.

      Thanks for the info. I love crappie fishing , Richard said he is catching them in about 10 to 15 foot I can not catch them at that depth I have been catching them in 30 foot what am I doing wrong? when they are in there summer pattern I catch them at the depth Richard is fishing.

    • @RichardGeneTheFishingMachine
      @RichardGeneTheFishingMachine  7 лет назад +1

      For the last two weeks we have had unseasonable weather conditions as Rolltidmatt92 said. It has actually warmed the water temp. up and what happens the shad will suspend high in the water column, thats the reason i have been catching them 5 to 6 feet deep fishing over 15-18 ft of water. Basicly what i do is find the depth the shad are and fish for crappie at that depth. Sometimes i have to hunt them but sooner or later I always find them this way. Thanks for watching Danny and if you have any questions just let me know.
