It hunted. Shifted when I didn’t want to and didn’t shift when I wanted. The car tram lines like crazy. It’s dangerous in the hands of a beginner. The electronic limited slip is horrible cutting horsepower in turns. The interior was below standards of European standards. The panel gaps were awful. The second screen rattles horribly. The prices are tanking . You can get a 23 24 Z06/Z07 with every option for $130,000 with less than a 1000 miles. I had it a month and traded it in on Huracan Technica. 300% better than the Z06. GM absolutely did not disappoint with the Z06. And Ive never driven one, but my only gripe is the electric power steering. Driver's car enthusiasts want great steering feel & feedback, especially if theres no manual. But going electric has been common (likely for reliability, weight savings, easier tuning etc). Also, I wish the Z06 (atleast ZR1) got a carbon fiber decklid. The much cheaper c6 ZR1 had a carbon hood, trunk, roof & front fenders. And C7z's atleast had a carbon hood & roof. So a decklid option would've been nice. The Z06 & ZR1 coupes are 3650 & 3900?lb at their lightest. But that's what happens when buyers want everything in one car.. a fully loaded, luxurious interior, targa AND HTC, a +200lb DCT (over manual), 2 trunks, and enough cooling & durability for endless track time. (All at a reasonable cost)😅🤷♂️

I’m planning to buy a Z06 this year. The question I have, should I get the Z07 pack? I’m curious as to how much harsher the ride quality is as I would also like to take it on long road trips once per year. I’d probably track the car only occasionally but it would mostly be my day to day car except during winters in Chicago.
Stingray had only 7-8 as the long gears, driving the Z06 on track I don't think I even got to 5th gear before hitting 150 and needing to slow down for a turn
It will depend on the track to some extent. In the context of the Nurburgring, a lot of time was lost on the super long döttinger höhe straightaway as well as the run up to schwedenkreuz, where it sat in 5th gear for long periods of time.
@ stingray is def better for daily driving and getting to speed from stops is much quicker than the Z06. Only thing I love more about the z06 is the amazing sound and wider body. Z06 def better for track though 1000%
@@wravager what do you mean the stingray is faster in getting to speed from stops over the z06? Their times are nearly identical from 0-60 and after that the z06 just pulls away after that. i've never driven a stingray but my 24 z06 is a decent daily driver in my opinion.
@ the z06 tends to hold the lower gears a bit longer. When daily driving it’s a bit slower from stops than the stingray because of that. If you’re flooring it then of course the z06 has tops since it can rev much higher in those lower gearings.
Taking delivery of my Z07 this week. Coming from a 911 Turbo S PDK car, I don't believe I'll feel like I'm missing much...especially with that extra $100k in my bank account.
I had a Carrera 4S and I got rid of it a couple years ago and got a C8 Stingray...after a couple years of ownership I wish I had my Porsche back. Performance is a little better in the Vette but the Porsche just feels more special and you have a turbo so even more so. But grabbing a 100k is nothing to sneeze at either lol Good luck my friend!
Definitely black and I do actually like red. The only thing I don’t like about the Z is the black boomerang on the side. It looks like a fish mouth opening and the gas cap looks like the eye. Once you see it you can’t unsee it. That’s why I like the e ray… I like When they match the boomerang with the color of the car
It’s to preserve/increase acceleration (partially from lower torque), and because the Z06 is the track oriented version, top speed or taller gearing is not a priority. So they would rather squeeze the acceleration and midrange out, where the engine will mostly operate during track use
I own a 296 GTB Ferrari, 992 GT3 and I recently sold a c8 convertible. My competition yellow z06 is in 3000 mode at the factory and hope it arrives in a month or so- less than half the cost of my 296 - looking forward to driving this in competition with my other cars. Not a huge fan of the body which is not very elegant- kind of too swoopy and the rear seems oddly old man compared to the front which is more lambo extreme.
@@running2redline I have to say this. I traded in a 2023 ZL1 to get into this car. I bought it new and I had only put 9500 miles on it. I'm not gonna lie. There is not much drop off in performance at all between the two. I'm kinda having a hard time noticing much difference in power. Maybe it's gonna take a minute to realize it. I don't know..Don't get me wrong, the z06 feels good. At high speed it handles so well that you feel like you are driving slow 🤣 But that ZL1 is just brute power. And when you ask for it, it's instant. It doesn't bs. And driving this Z06 makes me realize just how good that camaro is. That camaro is a damn animal in its own right
I just bought a 2017 SS 1LE and reviewed a 23 ZL1. I agree they’re super impressive, hard to call a muscle car any more. The ZL1 especially is just a crazy value
Rear wheel weight on non CF wheels/tires is 71lbs EACH vs C7Z06 OEM rear wheel/tire 57lb each 14lbs per corner of rotating mass is a BIG deal for braking, accelerating and cornering performance.
GM builds a good engine, it’s their transmissions that always worry me. For performance cars they outsource to Tremec, who does fantastic work. In their trucks though their transmissions are garbage. This engine is stout, just ran 24 hours straight of track use in 5 cars at the Rolex 24 in Daytona without any failures. Yes those are race versions, but they are surprisingly similar. I think these engines can be trusted, certainly not any less than the exotics
Fair enough, just as a small channel I have limited resources when it comes to acquiring these cars for review purposes. Figured I can still do this car justice a couple years later, thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video!
So I have a 2019 ZO7 package in Admiral blue carbon brakes and all that. I am trying to convince my wife to trade up. Should she let me???? Her excuse is my car is paid off and more than I can handle already. Oh mine is a manual and i do love the crap out of it but I hate it when she makes sense but…..😅
I would definitely test drive one to see if you can do without the manual. A 19 Z06 should hold value nicely as the final year with the manual and is a great car. As for your decision, I can’t give you financial advice haha. Best of luck with what you decide to do!

I'm suing General Motors right now because of my faulty transmission of my 2023 Z06/Z07 package. I'm surrendering my car to General Motors on Friday and never buying another ZO6 again it was in the shop 20 times in a year and 2 months and 3 months of that I didn't have the car because they were waiting for a new transmission. And I'm continuously having problems with it screw Z06 and General Motors
$120k USED C8Z06 with 460tq (C8 TQ number is the lowest all C8) vs $70k USED C7Z06 with 650tq (which is the 2nd highest not incl the ZR1 not yet for sale)
The C7 struggles to put it down in 1-3 gear, this Z06 has very little wheel spin in my experience. I can appreciate the manual in the C7 though. Thanks for watching
@@running2redline i agree, my 24' z06 is almost freaky how it puts the power down for being RWD. I mean its obvious why it does, but to experience it is just a whole nother experience.
They copied a true exotic.. it’s a regular sports car, not supercar, still far too many corners cut by American manufacturer, folks need to stop trying to put this car against true exotics.. it’s also putting out more than stated HP, meaning the engineering is not as impressive as people want you to believe.. they copied a 458, that’s why it’s not celebrated by exotic owners .. American engineers always cheat engineering but pounding a ton of Horses as if that’s enough
LOL you obviously do not know what you are talking about but you are entitled to your opinion even if you are way off. A true car enthusiast NEVER puts a type of car down based on YOUR comment. May ur education and opinion in cars grow in positivity.
Here’s a piece of information that will blow your mind. GM didn’t copy the exotics, it’s the other way around. Cadillac (GM) was the inventor of the flat-plane crank engine over a century ago. You can make these statements, but when the Z06 is faster in both a straight line and around a track than many of these exotics, it begs the question, if this isn’t a supercar then what would it have to do to be one? Who makes it isn’t a sufficient answer to that question. I can understand it being hard to admit, but it’s an objective truth about this machine. Take the chance to test drive one and give it the chance to change your mind. Thanks for watching, and hope you still enjoyed the video!
This isn’t a real Corvette. At all, it’s literally a Chevy grade Ferrari and I grew up loving Corvettes. But this is just not it. We was supposed to be a the American viper since viper is gone. Instead you get a Car that Ferrari used to make. Yes it’s fast. Nice interior no doubt. But the things you could do with the old Corvette you can’t with this one. Namely a manual.
'The best part is, this Ferrari killer costs a third of the price.'...Yes...because the graceful artistic sexy synergistic flowing body lines of a Ferrar F8 and Stradale is not a clusterfuck of endless carbon fiber wings scoops vents among other off the shelf garbage in an attempt to hide a basicallly stubby ugly car. Signed ...C5 and C6 owner and Chevy lover
ruclips.net/video/mb8PjEcdmno/видео.htmlsi=4fJ3NvNuzFWQMQKH the hype of a DCT cannot be compared to the thrill of a manual transmission. If the C8 Z06 came with a manual transmission I would be driving one today. With a few modifications I find it far more exhilarating in my outdated C5 ZO6 ¿`_

People that knock the Z06 are the ones that have never driven it, and will never get a chance to.😢
Strange to hear a Vette rev that high.
It feels very odd indeed
So, I know to be beat that dead horse, but I’m the guy who just traded a 2024 Lamborghini Huracan TECHNICA for a 2025 Z06 Z07 coupe. The Lambo was nicely loaded at $320K sticker. The Corvette is every option available at $191K.
Just here to add that the ZL1 still is intoxicating.
Fantastic review!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
This was added to my stable. I own a 2021 Turbo S...and a Lastcall Hellcat Redeye Super Stock...
Nice taste, I see you enjoy straight line speed!
It was between the Z06 and the Eray. Carbon Ceramic brakes standard (8.5k), 5K less, and no 3K Gas Guzzler Tax. Easy decision for me.
"On the street, if you enjoy not living in a jail cell, this should never be an issue" 😂😂
This thing will do jail speeds so easily haha
Nice Review! It is truly the best sports car for the money ever made.... I don't know who pissed Chevy off but they just keep dropping mic's.......
Much appreciated! This car absolutely blew me away
@@wravagerummmmmm…. Heh….
It's sounds like a fucking V12 !
Great review. You should have more subs.
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching
Congrats and I hope you enjoy the car!
@@running2redline Thx!
This car only looks good in black , gray, and red imo. Such a badass car
man with great taste
I have black, gray, and red and also White. Grateful. : )
Good video!
I appreciate that, thanks for watching!
This reminds me of when the r35 GTR came out..
Can any explain why the final drive is shorter on the z06 compared to the SR?
I assume to compensate for the Z06’s lower torque???
It’s to preserve/increase acceleration (partially from lower torque), and because the Z06 is the track oriented version, top speed or taller gearing is not a priority. So they would rather squeeze the acceleration and midrange out, where the engine will mostly operate during track use
@ i own a 24 Z06. Best car I ever owned. Tons of power. I can’t imagine replacing it, even with the ZR1. You sound well tuned in, do you own a Z06?
Agree! People flip out when I tell them I chose a z06 over a Huracan or 720s. So much more enjoyable car than those
It really is a nearly unbeatable option, I’m sure you’re plenty happy with the car!
I want a yellow C8 Z06, Z07, and I don't want the rare yellow color look like green.
I love my 2024 z07 HTC. There is no car that gets the job done like the z06+z07
Just buy a soler throttle controller. It will pull like crazy for $200 lol. Come back and thank me though
What does that controller do? I have a Z07 and now you have me curious? Lol
I just hit the 500 mile mark last night
Me too!
First pull after break in will blow your mind, it’s unbelievable!
What an amazing beautiful machine wish black wheels died out though they make cars look dull.
This color with bronze or gold wheels would look crazy
@ It's hard to pull off bronze or gold wheels but I agree with you in this situation
Rear wheel weight on non CF wheels/tires is 71lbs EACH vs C7Z06 OEM rear wheel/tire 57lb each 14lbs per corner of rotating mass is a BIG deal for braking, accelerating and cornering performance.
yes but how wide is the tire?
The engine is made by general motors that scares me. That being said yes the car is cheaper than exotics but thats cause its not ..
@running2redline I hope your right. Their 5.3 V8 are trassh I know that first hand
Great video but but way too late. We have ZR1 now. Z06 is here since 2022.
Fair enough, just as a small channel I have limited resources when it comes to acquiring these cars for review purposes. Figured I can still do this car justice a couple years later, thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video!
You keep saying magnetic ride. Its called Magna Ride.
Yes, that’s short for magnetic ride control
So I have a 2019 ZO7 package in Admiral blue carbon brakes and all that. I am trying to convince my wife to trade up. Should she let me???? Her excuse is my car is paid off and more than I can handle already. Oh mine is a manual and i do love the crap out of it but I hate it when she makes sense but…..😅
Yea keep that bud and just buy the c8 and have both
I would definitely test drive one to see if you can do without the manual. A 19 Z06 should hold value nicely as the final year with the manual and is a great car. As for your decision, I can’t give you financial advice haha. Best of luck with what you decide to do!
Show me this thing can beat the GTR, and then we will talk.
0-60: GTR 2.9 / Z06 2.6
Quarter mile: GTR 10.8 / Z06 10.5
Nordschleife: GTR 7:26 / Z06 7:10
Braking from 60: GTR 97ft / Z06 95ft
They are quite close and the GTR is no doubt a good buy. I can appreciate the ability of modification on the GTR as well, but stock for stock the numbers don’t lie, can’t go wrong with either, but on paper the Z06 is ahead. Thanks for watching!
@ A video would be nice, I haven’t found one.
Beautiful town !
Without a manual transmission it's nothing more than a fancy sedan.
Like nearly every other super/hyper car?
It’s a coupe rather than a sedan, and nearly every Ferrari, McLaren, and Lamborghini doesn’t have a manual. I’m a diehard manual enthusiast as well, but they knocked this DCT out of the park imo. Thanks for watching!
Are you okay?
widen your perspective. its not comparable.
The guy who drives a Honda. 😂
@@running2redlinenice reply😂
@@running2redlineCadillac and Hispano Suiza both copied De Dion Bouton who did it 10 years before.
Namely a manual.
times change.
@ the 911 still rear engined. Times change means nothing
@ well obviously it does because the vet changed regardless of you crying about it.
lol., you know you can still get the older models (used).
