White guy here. What I got from this song was that there's a point on both sides. Okay, that sounds basic as fuck... except I mean there's REALLY a case on both sides. Whites and blacks spend so much time hating each other and killing each other that there's almost no understanding at all. But then when we try to understand each other, we also fight that shit "Trying to steal black culture", "Paying my taxes for your food stamps".... so there's a misunderstanding and we do it to each other. That's sad. We could do better.
I've been so angry with what is happening to our Country. I've always judged people by character and never judged another religion as not to have my faith questioned. I didn't understand the hate. After this, I truly do. Maybe, we all just need to meet and talk. Get to know one another on a personal bases and go from there
If you picked a side you're to young for this song most educating song ever made this generation needed this so we dont repeat our fathers sins... Factsss
Im 16 and I get the meaning. I always looked at both sides of the story, but due to something that happened my vision got cloudy and I just started blaming the wrong people. This song really helped me get back to my old self. People shouldn't focus on the past to much, it only causes hatred and suffering. Stay strong ✌💯💯✌
I hope this song is heard in pity, I pray that this song will lose its meaning to us, and we can finally move past the racism. I understand the context but someone a hundred years later will see this and be sad that we were like this to begin
I’m an “Euro-American” and I have a biracial son, he is technically my step son, (his biological father is black) and he has known this his whole life but he is my son, he has 3 brothers that are my biological kids but he has told me that he didn’t feel any different from them, thank God! So I have had a unique view of the racial issue(s) in this country. I have worked with people for years and as soon as they learn that my oldest son is “black” you can see the thought process with them realizing all the racist things they have said to or around me or they will actually change the way they interact with me! The sad part is, some people don’t even know that they are racist, they actually think their attitude is great, I have to explain to them why their point of view is the “racism” that is the problem. The racism the kkk burdens humanity with is easy to defeat, but the racism that most people have is hard to overcome. When people see a black man, not just a man, like every other man, that is hard to counteract. When people are so blind to the truth they say that “there isn’t disadvantages facing minorities today, they have the same, if not more, opportunity than anyone!”, it drives me crazy. Until white people in America can see people for who they are and not the color of their skin, nothing is going to change. Until people see a person, not a black or brown or white person but a person, that day will be a great day. I hope I am still around to witness it,.......peace be with you all.
I’ve been told that it is hard to do because ppl are born racist we humans naturally like to be around others that look/act/think like ourselves when your young you gatta teach your children what’s ok and what’s not ok
Racism is embedded in our mind, not able to be detangled overnight, maybe not even over a century. I hope my grandchildren will be able to live freely in they're latter years but I know that my generation will have to face racism for the rest of our lives( I'm 14 right now ).
Black Lives Matter....why are people disclaiming a truism. Obviously all lives matter but when we say our lives matter we are saying that there are people who dont treat us that way. Then those same people come to our protest with their own signs trying to disclaim, if that's the right word, our protest. Trying to protest against Black Lives Matter, which to me sounds like you're saying black lives dont matter. If your not racist after that then you are most definitely ignorant.
No aint no way people are born racist its learned, when I was a kid my first friend and best friend is black, and when his parents said we couldn't play together, I cried my eyes out, im still friends too this day, kids aren't naturally racist, that is something that is taught

That's deep! This song should be trending right now for the world to hear! The media is dividing us all by race, religion and politics! We need to unite n show these mf's we are all human n let us live our lives the way we see fit! United we stand, divided we fall! 🙌🙏🏼
Iunno the world don't need to hear this .... Just certain people in America.... Canada and western Europe... Since most the other countries ain't multicultural.
I've watched this so many times and it still hits the same everytime!! It's all about understanding how history has put us into this position and to move forward as black and white people, this would relate to so many people(I'm from the UK) but it's not mainstream so doesn't get seen!! Poetic and honest song.
Uncomfortable, yes. Mind opening, indeed. This is THE conversation that needs to happen on a mass scale so we can truly unite. Untie as brothers and sisters, as Americans, or simply because we are ALL humans. Ive lived both sides of this story and i will fight for everyone!
The feeling of this song at 12 then 13 then 14 is that every year you start to see each side you start to realize what's happening and see that no one is in the right everyone is in the wrong

Same for all white people not Trump loving conservatives. Joyner pits 2 stereotypes against each other, both races are varied and nuanced. We are individuals after all. Incredible song and video though. Starts a good and much needed conversation.
Racism drives me crazy. I love Joyner's point of view, 2 sides to every story, but we are all one people, how much better would we all be if we stop looking at color and look deeper.
I personally don’t hate white people I strongly dislike the people who take advantage of their power and are hurtful to other races because they are “superior “
Saw you on the news. Looked you up. First comment I have ever made and I am in my 50's. I have written a bit and have worked with all of these "personalities". This was truly pretty awesome! I have been in education for almost 30 years and it has been a journey. It's time to drop another quickly before the election to compare the honesty of the candidates. What is integrity and is it valuable anymore?
I was lol. Here is a bit I wrote for my students to try to relate to them. Every time I’m in a school I feel miniscule Sit down and do your work; obey the rules Just staring into space; I feel like a fool I hate this place and their damned rules I get treated like a kid; shit, I am grown Since I have been little; I’ve made it on my own I don’t need no help; it don’t matter none I am my own family; I am number one I’m living on the streets, can’t say it no other way I’m living on the streets, living day to day I’m living on the streets, without a long term plan I’m living on the streets, I’ll take it right outta yo’ hand I will steal and burglarize and sell all that I can I will stack my cheese in the palm of my right hand Don’t you turn your back; you don’t understand You are not my friend; I am what I am I don’t have a job, and I work the streets I am living for today and that is all I need I put food in my mouth and all my clothes are fine You really ain’t nothing if you haven’t done no time I’m living on the streets, can’t say it no other way I’m living on the streets, living day to day I’m living on the streets, without a long term plan I’m living on the streets, I’ll take it right outta yo’ hand My life is what it is, no one sees the things I see For all that I have wronged, this is my penalty It just goes to show that there was no plan for me Living in this hell is my eternity I should’ve stayed in school, I should have tried my best It’s hard when your support needs more and you get less No one read me stories when I was very young Mom and dad were not around; their life was getting drunk If only someone cared and could see through all my pain Maybe then just maybe, I could start to build again A little bit of hope, a sign that life is good Until that day happens, you’ll find me in the ‘hood
Shit this made me cry a lil It’s good to see real conversation and understanding and love in a world that is so filled with hatred corruption and arguing
The hug at the end is PRICELESS! I love my fellow humans regardless of their skin tone. I wish everybody would just get along and love each other. Life is hard!
I love everyone. Everyone has their own feelings, but nobody knows what happens behind doors. That’s what this song is about. Love everyone. You just gotta understand their stories 🤟🏻
I’m somewhere between this and the words of Morgan freeman when he said the way to be free from racism is to “stop talking about it” he said “you stop calling me a black man and I’ll stop calling you a white man” and that hit almost as hard as these lyrics. I’m a white woman, majority of my friends are black. Got mixed nieces and nephews, family members, etc. we all bleed red at the end of the day. I think these tough conversations need to be had and THEN we all move on from it with the understanding that we are all human and no one is better than anyone else. We. All. Bleed. Red. ♥️

Yeah but hes just mumbling now, you'll be disappointed seeing him doing useless meaningless songs. This one and devil's work is a philosophical work. The rest trash

Right, We can all do better tryin to understand each other.
@@dirkaveli4792 For sure man. We all gotta live on the earth together.

This song really helped me get back to my old self. People shouldn't focus on the past to much, it only causes hatred and suffering. Stay strong ✌💯💯✌

As a native American, this song really touched my soul 🙏
Nobody asked what’s your race
This song will never loose its relevance
I hope this song is heard in pity, I pray that this song will lose its meaning to us, and we can finally move past the racism. I understand the context but someone a hundred years later will see this and be sad that we were like this to begin
Hopefully one day soon it does.
I think this song is genieus, but i hope one day it does.
Lee Marvin at LADbible & Real Porridge Podcast 💯😊
No aint no way people are born racist its learned, when I was a kid my first friend and best friend is black, and when his parents said we couldn't play together, I cried my eyes out, im still friends too this day, kids aren't naturally racist, that is something that is taught
This is art.. this is what greatness is

I've watched this so many times and it still hits the same everytime!! It's all about understanding how history has put us into this position and to move forward as black and white people, this would relate to so many people(I'm from the UK) but it's not mainstream so doesn't get seen!! Poetic and honest song.
I gotta give this guy so many props for doing this. This song has so much meaning💙
Man this song is DEEP was not expecting this this man is a genius
The feeling of this song at 12 then 13 then 14 is that every year you start to see each side you start to realize what's happening and see that no one is in the right everyone is in the wrong

Back in my wild days, my favorite drug dealer was black. I responded "but you are a drug dealer" and he said "yeah but those n*ggas didn't know that", then we both started laughing hysterically lol.

No shit, stop letting media depict everyone.
I personally don’t hate white people I strongly dislike the people who take advantage of their power and are hurtful to other races because they are “superior “

When i see ppl fighting in the comments and picking sides i start to lose hope because the whole song is made so that we would understand each other
Saw you on the news.
You were watching Ari’s show? I’m here for the same reason! This song is so powerful. More people need to hear it.
I was lol. Here is a bit I wrote for my students to try to relate to them.
Every time I’m in a school I feel miniscule
Sit down and do your work; obey the rules
Just staring into space; I feel like a fool
I hate this place and their damned rules
I get treated like a kid; shit, I am grown
Since I have been little; I’ve made it on my own
I don’t need no help; it don’t matter none
I am my own family; I am number one
I’m living on the streets, can’t say it no other way
I’m living on the streets, living day to day
I’m living on the streets, without a long term plan
I’m living on the streets, I’ll take it right outta yo’ hand
I will steal and burglarize and sell all that I can
I will stack my cheese in the palm of my right hand
Don’t you turn your back; you don’t understand
You are not my friend; I am what I am
I don’t have a job, and I work the streets
I am living for today and that is all I need
I put food in my mouth and all my clothes are fine
You really ain’t nothing if you haven’t done no time
I’m living on the streets, can’t say it no other way
I’m living on the streets, living day to day
I’m living on the streets, without a long term plan
I’m living on the streets, I’ll take it right outta yo’ hand
My life is what it is, no one sees the things I see
For all that I have wronged, this is my penalty
It just goes to show that there was no plan for me
Living in this hell is my eternity
I should’ve stayed in school, I should have tried my best
It’s hard when your support needs more and you get less
No one read me stories when I was very young
Mom and dad were not around; their life was getting drunk
If only someone cared and could see through all my pain
Maybe then just maybe, I could start to build again
A little bit of hope, a sign that life is good
Until that day happens, you’ll find me in the ‘hood
This song is needed now more than ever
Sad but true
So powerful of a message in this song brought me to tears
"Blame It On Puerto Rico"
That hit home hard.

We. All. Bleed. Red. ♥️
