That’s because Drew Brees never “went rogue” after a snap and knowingly defied Coach Peyton’s play-calling when there was absolutely no justifiable reason to do so. Russ, on the other hand, obviously did “go rogue”, probably more than once during the Lions’ game, where Russ “called his own play” (for whatever reason) not following the play drawn up by Coach Payton, either because Russ wasn’t confident in his ability to execute it effectively, or because Russ thought another play that he was way more familiar with would be more successful than Coach Peyton’s play. That would be my guess was the reason Coach Peyton couldn’t contain his frustration with Russ, causing him to get in his grill, and shout at him in front of millions of NFL fans.

That's kind of character Carroll had to win with. Then again, Pete Carroll made pedestrian QBs like Leinart, Sanchez, Wilson, and Geno Smith look like elite QBs at various points in their careers. Any team that gets Russell Wilson is not only going to have to deal with his baggage but also the realization that his success was due largely to great coaching, not his own talents.

Think about it this way: if you were a top tier QB (where are they?) would you want to play with a coach who throws you under the bus, berates a 34 year old QB in front of the team & HOME fans, asks you to take a pay cut, waive an injury clause in your contract and then blames you for all the offensive shortcomings ALL IN ONE SEASON? When the Broncos hired Payton I quit the Broncos after 30 years as a fan. Then when Payton treated Russell Wilson like crap, it confirmed my decision.
