Activity Flow:
1. Coach plays the ball into the playing field
2. One team is in possession of the ball (here: yellow team), other team needs to defend and chase the ball
3. If team yellow loses the ball to team blue or kicking the ball out of the playing area the tasks are changing
4. If necessary, the coach plays a new ball into the playing field.
Organization:
1. Cones to mark the playing area (here: 6 cones)
2. 11 or 20 bibs (two colors, think about your neutral player if you have an uneven number)
3. Extra balls next to the coach
Coaching Points:
1. Game intelligence - All the players have to be quick in their heads, when there's a change of possession they have to know which color I have to play with
2. Observation (coach) - Start slowly and easy and try to observe your players (Who is struggling? How can I help them? Don't be scared to change the size of playing area even during the practice. Adapt the exercise to your team level. Check the variations for different scenarios
3. Movement - Movement to create space to receive the ball for yourself or a team mate
4. Transition to Attack - The moment in the game when the team have regained the ball
Variations:
1. Easier - Change the playing numbers, as less players are playing as easier it gets
2. Easier - Adapt the size of the playing area, increase the playing area (maybe play from box to box)
3. Rule - Always easier to start on a bigger playing field
4. Rule - Use your goalkeepers and position your goalies at the sideline (similar to normal match)
5. Harder - Bring in limitations (for example: only two touches allowed, but be careful: That's not always the right way to do it because players could make the wrong decision based on the limitation rule)
