In the second installment of our tutorial series highlighting the exciting updates and additions to Native Instruments' comprehensive producer bundle Komplete 8 and Komplete 8 Ultimate. Dubspot instructor and NI's product specialist Matt Cellitti showcases Guitar Rig 5 as a dedicated effects unit, which is something that NI have been making a conscious effort to do in recent years. While Guitar Rig is most obviously known for having great guitar amp models and classic guitar effects, the program also has tons of unique sound design possibilities with other instruments like synths, drums, and vocals.
Guitar Rig is mind blowing. You could have a terrible sounding synth, run it through Guitar Rig and all of a sudden you have a powerful synth
Why comments become tedious = useless debates and individual bias. Interest in NI is up because they are currently innovating and delivering new integrated products at a rapid pace. People are interested period. It doesn't mean others cant or wont do same - thats what keeps the market fresh and competitive. Keep posting and keep up great work.

you have to link the container to the tape echo or whatever other componet you use, you can see of there linked by the yellow stripe, that has to cirkel around container and the tape delay.
So when you drag the tape delay into that screen you add it a bit over the container, than it shoold work.

Komplete 8 Ultimate includes GR 5 and tons more.. Yes you can get it outside of the bundle and I believe it can be used as a standalone as well as a plugin but no it is not a DAW. Hopefully that helps

hey im having trouble hooking my guitar to my audio buss 22 vsl. when ever I plug the trs cable in, I get sound however I cant get any of my standalones or plug ins in maschine to control and change the acttrul sound? what am I doing wrong? do I need a DI box

Please let me know something ASAP Dubspot or anyone else that knows what this problem is. It won't let me drag the control from the container to any controls on anything else like the tape delay or anything like that. Idk why I cant do it but I really want to use it.
Question: I just got GR5 and I noticed when trying to pick some drum beats to add to my guitar my entire drum samples are also effected by GR. How do I get rid of the GR effects to only be active on my guitar and not on any other sample?
Oh danggg nevermind I figured it out. You have to drag and drop the effects into the container rack. I just thought you had to drag it below it. So glad I figured that out. I was getting mad. I love Guitar Rig so far.
Thanks so much for breaking this down.....but can I map/midi-learn those Container macro controls to ANY external midi controller? I'm using an Akai LPD 8's knobs for now....it's gonna be a few months before I can afford Maschine.
I just got a Maschine (total noob) but this vid was SICK. Can't wait to tinker with this :-)
thanks man things have been really complicated but ive found out lately that the extra sounds in komplete 8, some of them can only be run independently and then all the vsts are through kontakt but yea
i was confused because tehre are about 50 programs in komplete 8 and only the vsts can be used, which is about 20 or so everything else is on its own, i guess its for using in a mixer or something

Hey Matt. This may sound like a stupid question, but does Guitar Rig 5 (Pro) require a guitar or can I use my S61 to utilize Guitar Rig for guitar composing?
+Chenyu Fan it's an effects processer, so you can load a clean guitar samples or vst, and process it with guitar rig to get the effects that you are looking to alter your guitar signal with.
thnks been using guitar rig for a year and still hadn't dived into half the stuff in it like the LFO

Thx for the quick reply.....the only problem is: when I right click and go for the "learn" option (like I would do in any other midi-learn situation with a soft synth)....nothing gets mapped to the next knob I touch. What don't I know or understand here?
simply set up an input on another group. We teach this in the Maschine course here at Dubspot Online or NYC ;)
I do it. It sounds significantly better through a cab (or even an amp) than it does through headphones.
maybe u should use it as VST in a hoster like Cubase.
For the vocoder things u have to but the plugins on a audiotrak as a insert-effect

Of course not! The sound source changes, so the entire sound changes along with it.
For some reason the container knobs are not controlled by Maschine controller for me. When i try to drag the knobs it does not allow me to do that. Do I use the Maschine controller in MIDI mode or regular?

Just bought Guitar Rig 5 today cuz I was just blown away by what the demo did for my guitar..
I do.. kinda... 'get' that purists pedal fanatic/fetishism people are into, now... cause I too have chased the tone unicorn once upon a time in my life..
Bought like 6 drive pedals.. 3 compressors.. 6 amps blah blah you get the pic..
However I have always thought the recording process was tiring and inefficient, time consuming and severely limiting on various levels. I really craved a software would come along one day and effectively {pun intended} kill the clunky, limiting analog recording process ..
I needed this software to be and do everything!!..
Scare the snooty look out of my purist guitar buddies ..
Satisfy every mood even the bad ones..
Be flexible at all times..
Most importantly sound amazingly real with feel..
Well finally! here it is.. I'm still reeling from the shock of what about all the gear I've bought!! Ohhh boy!!

@mcsg27 So, I can open up Maschine inside Ableton as a VST, then open up all the instruments and effects of Komplete 8 within Maschine? Sorry for the lack of knowledge, but some of this is kinda new to me.
I don't have guitar rig 5, is there some way you can achieve something like this with guitar rig 4?
I know there's a free guitar rig 5 player with container, but then you are very limited to the fx you can use.
If I buy Maschine and Komplete 8, how do I record what I am playing? Is there a good sequencer inside maschine? Say I wanted to record everything inside Ableton. Would I use rewire function? Thanks

Disregard that. I found out I needed to point cubase to my 32bit vstplugins, not only the 64bit ones. I think it's working ok now.

@mcsg27 maybe some arturia soft synth videos, some max/msp or puredata stuff, sugarbytes effect plugins, the skies the limit! you guys made such good videos for so long its just a shame to see things going downhill recently. its not just you guys that have been bought out tho, djtechtools is pretty much exclusivley NI aswell nowadays.

seriously my mental health depends upon figuring this out
step fam check what audio driver you're using within maschine/your DAW. Check the audio in and audio out section if there is one too.
