    This was actually a lot more helpful than I anticipated. All the basics I need to format my book. Thanks!

      @@CreativityGarage Quick question, do you have a video that explains how to use lowercase Roman numerals for the beginning page (before the chapters begin) or do you suggest that I make a separate document with those numbers on it? If so, how do I tell InDesign I want those numbers? Haha. I guess that’s two or three questions. Sorry. If you have a video, I will watch it. 😘

      Thanks for the question! I don't really have a video for that yet, however, you don't have to create it separately. All you need to do is create another master page, and do all your settings for the Roman numerals on it, and then apply this master to the beginning page, and problem sorted!

      @@CreativityGarage That’s awesome! I didn’t think of that. Thank you so much! Now I just need to Google how to set the page numbers to Roman numerals and I’ll be good to go! 😄

    It would be great if the mouse pointer were always visible, so as to follow any action you're doing clearly . Thanks so much for the vid, been really helpful nonetheless. Just suscribed!

    Thank you so much for the video, it's real helpful! I have a question. So on min 8:20 you show how to realign the primary text frame to a new margins setting, and you do it while on an active page. I did the exact same thing step by step, but on my document only the active page I was on, reflects the changes (which means I would have to go on manually resizing every page, which would defeat the purpose). I have primary text frame togged on and everything. Done the same steps 3 times and got the same result every time. I appreciate your help with this issue.

      Thanks for the appreciation and the question. I think if you watch it a little further where I’m modifying the margins, I’m doing it on a master page, cuz only modifying it on a master will affect all the pages. Just watch it closely until 9.00 and you’ll know.

    Do the master pages save over to the other chapters or do you have to redo them?

    • @CreativityGarage
      @CreativityGarage  Год назад

      Thanks for the question. You do not have to redo the master pages in each chapter, as all chapters linked to the same InDesign document will share the same master pages.

    What you copied it wasn't aligned evenly on both sides - you lost that in your paste and copy, how do you make it align even on the spine?

    • @CreativityGarage
      @CreativityGarage  8 дней назад

      Thank you for the question. Try doing the following:
      Select the text frame, then go to Object > Text Frame Options (Ctrl+B or Cmd+B).
      Under vertical justification, select justify to distribute the text evenly within the frame.
      Adjust the inset spacing if needed for consistent padding.
      Highlight the text in your document and open the Paragraph Panel (Window > Type & Tables > Paragraph).
      Use alignment options such as Justify Left, Right, or Centered, depending on your design requirements.
      Avoid full justification if it leads to uneven spacing near the spine.
      It should do the job!

    Wish it was that easy! I can never get the text window to just appear after creating the file, and the one time I did, I had no idea what I did differently so I couldn’t do it again when I had to try again bc I couldn’t get the “b parent” page to incorporate my book into it so it used the parent pages as the template like it’s supposed to! It’s def a lot harder than you and everyone else on RUclips make it seem! Oh it’s just click this and cock thst to do this! Not at all! And for a beginner, it’s insanely difficult

    • @CreativityGarage

      It actually isn’t so hard. Just follow the video carefully, I’m sure you’ll get it. 👍🏻👍🏻

    Since it has been some time since you posted your 'how to', you probably won't see or read this, but here goes. I am still going to watch your video but I would suggest that, as someone else said, proof your video. Make sure we can see what you so clearly see . Also, when you are showing how to set up the parameters of a new document, you state they can be changed later. How? In what window? I have been trying to re-synchronize my chapters without success. Or to change fonts across the entire document. Etc. Most people who do these videos jump around too much, flashing cursors and other visuals much too fast and make one very common mistake. You are explaining what you already know. You have to show and explain, not just to one person/viewer, but possibly hundreds if not thousands and maybe 100's of thousands. You have to make things clear to THEM, not to what you already know so then, most posters leave out valuable information, leaving viewers stymied. But, thanks.
