Super73-R Dirt Road Range Test.

  • Today I put Super73's range claims to the test. I realize that going uphill burns more juice and that I'll also be using full power but I wanted to run a real world test. If I bought this thing I'd be on full power all the time so why not? They say it has a range of 40-70 miles so I rode it out 20mi and turned around... You think it worked? The Super73-R, available at Spirit Of 1876.

    Just picked up an RX Mohave today and discovered that throttle blip trick. My basic knowledge of batteries makes me think that, under load, the battery's voltage is sagging and that blipping the throttle removes that load and allows the voltage to even out, which provides a momentary surge of power (probably over the motor controllers voltage limit where it's safe to allow current to flow). So far I'm really liking this bike - suspension is cool and it looks badass.

    Nice! You have great cardio. I have the RX and was curious how it would feel pushing this beast up a hill. I have a short, moderate hill on my street, so I went down it, turn off the battery and pushed it uphill back to my house. After a few feet, I was dying! By the way, where is this bike path? Looks so peaceful and perfect for riding!

      Haha different gear would’ve suited me a lot better but I had high hopes to be more on a motorcycle ride than a bicycle ride lol.

    I think most ebike manufacturers rate their bikes for level ground with and without pedaling, so when they say 40-70 miles it means 40 trottle only on level ground and 70 with pedaling on level ground. Offroad use you're going to see even less due to traction which drives efficiency down.

  • @justinbieber12373

    He says he has 6 miles range while walking the bike 😂😂😂. That bike needed to be aluminum or cabon fiber for that price. SO WHAT WAS THE REAL RANGE ????????

    Try Mode 2? Or Mode 4 with half throttle and half pedal assist?

    • @Spiritof1876
      @Spiritof1876  3 года назад

      I was doing lots of half throttle or less throughout the day, also on a long flat I'd just give it one big acceleration and then kind of coast the last half for the next corner.

    Super 73 bikes and hills don’t mix. I have a ZX and know my capabilities and expectations.
    If I want to ride paved or even gravel roads mainly flat terrain. The ZX is perfect and I can get 25+ miles on mode 2-3. If I’m full throttle going 26mph the bike will last me an hour tops.
    Hills or terrain like this I would take a sur ron. But honestly a full on dirt bike would be best for where you’re at.

  • @50scap3

    Might want to know exactly what the bike capabilities are. Your individual weight, road condition and whether you go uphill, downhill or stay in flat surface will all effect range. Also, having it on the highest mode 4 means you will certainly NOT get 40 to 70 miles, the higher mile count is for a lower mode which would be locked at 20 WHILE PEDALING.
    You do an injustice to the bike by judging it by parameters that are ill informed.

    • @Spiritof1876
      @Spiritof1876  3 года назад +1

      You first sentence is literally the purpose of the video, solved! It's about 34 miles on hilly terrain with a 170lb guy.
      Injustice? I think the only injustice is showing 5 miles range when the bike can't propel a person on flat ground. Also when you give a span like "40-70" it's kind of implied that the lower number is like, the lower end ya know? I still had a great day and I still like the bike, just wouldn't try to go 40 miles again. We live in Colorado, people want to take these camping, flat ground stats are useless here and who doesn't want to be on Mode 4? Thanks for watching!

      @@Spiritof1876 thanks for the reply.
      i cringe when people say: “ Super 73 claims 40 to 70 miles” Well that’s only true in context, as you proved. Honestly because of the fat tires and heavy battery i personally try not to let it get lower than 20% unless I’m on my way home and near it at that.
      Being in Colorado it would probably be good for you to consider getting the derailer set up so if you are out in the dust and it starts to dog on you you can gear down and pedal easier.
      something to consider anyway.
