I don't think it's going to be a tool to build your personal empire because the moment the system is colonised, it will be subject of normal BGS and power play mechanics. So - I guess you gonna retain the ability to build more assets in the system, but other players will be able to expand their supported minor factions into the system and actually conquer it the usual way.
I'm worried about this as well tbh. But it would make little sense, to me anyway, for them to let player factions take over personal systems. Perhaps these will be considered something like a "private" sector. Because what's the point of spending all the resources if there is no benefit to the player who built it? Other than a "hey, I built that"
@@Damaged142 The benefit to me is having a thriving station and trade in a system where I got first discovery, first mapping and first footfall. I'm out right now looking for more Earth like worlds.
I think this shows that Frontier has begrudgingly accepted that Elite is going to be their main product going forward and their other games are just side projects instead of Elite being a seed game that funds development of other large IPs. I really hope this indicates a new level of attention to Elite...
I sent Frontier a email about 2yrs ago suggesting upgrading systems in the black - Grind like a mofo for X time npc show up keep grinding they start building a small station keep going it gets bigger, that was my outline I sent them. So as long as they don't make it so only large groups can benefit this might be good
Just stop and think about how much more of the universe we'll be able to explore now, not to mention how rewarding this will be for explorers. FINALLY I feel like I have an actual purpose to explore for months on end; I could never really get into exploration but now I can't wait - and now I want a FC just that much more. This is a huge, huge move forward for ED.
Yup. Also, it's now makes sense to earn some extra $$$ and also scout the areas around the bubble. I am wondering should this also include colonia. Hopefully! This would be a blast to colonize colonia region
I pulled my T10’s out, dusted them off, and put them to work. Getting ready, one account is at 10b, the other needs more, but is mainly a funnel for the main
This is how I figured it would go. You gotta remember what this game engine can handle and figure out how to make new stuff play in that framework. Interiors.... no. ELW landing..... no. Place currently use assets....yes. Make more variations of those assets.... yes. Let us upload our own insignia/emblem for use as a decal or banner.... Hopefully yes.
When i heard about base building long time ago, i asked for station building. But it sounded too much like carriers. Now we get multi-station-building in a new system. 😊
The key word in this is 'Settlements', which does indeed mean base building perhaps more on a scale of what we were expecting. Since the system are unpopulated we will have to build any structures ourselves. That's my take anyhow.
I would love to love the cobra. It is so iconic but the way the game has evolved I just don't find a use for it. I would like to see FDev find new uses for some of the unloved ships.
If your own ships could be used (by npcs) to help with the base building, it could be useful to have different ships for different jobs. (Just like player missions)
I am 100% more excited for System colonization than I was about base building. and one player can do this more than once??? Get outta here. This is gonna be epic. And- a new multiclass med size ship. Sigh...between this and the mandy....I wonder how loe it will be before I fly my 62 ly Krait MK2 explorer. Amazing video, Ex. o7 o7 o7
Considering the small percentage of the universe the player base has explored, FDev has given the players the ability to expand civilization into the unexplored regions of space we may see in ten years double figures of the amount the payer base has discovered, what of water worlds and earth-like planets could the player gain access the mind boggles👽👽🤑🤑
To be fair, Base Building is accomplished by buying a fleet carrier. Done deal and it's as mobile as you want it to be. Colonizing an entire System? Yeah. That's got some long overdue cool factor.
in the distant stretch of space the weary traveller finds a landing pad to land on cool, by the way I suggested years ago about base building I guess they heard, I also suggested colours for explored and unexplored they obviously listened despite the malicious comments.
lets hope they incorporate something for squadrons, maybe members can contribute to build squadron assets, maybe only squadron members gain access or have options like carriers do
Can players build planetary stations, that provide resources? Will this provide automatic income via autonomous trading? So, who's up for expanding from the bubble out towards Sirius A, Colonia, Hutton Orbital & other POI's?
Not sure why you say we have been limited to what we can get to... I have been all around the rim and all the way to the other side of the core exploring.
I'm not hardcore with PvP but with the size this galaxy has, I have trouble understanding why you would some players have concerns about other players finding them out, and taking or destroying their stuff. I believe that if we want to see Frontier kick the evolution speed of this game up a few notches, ED players will need to accept an higher lvl of PvP. This would attract more player$$$ and that is what the game needs. Good video mate.
It's kind of the same thing here on real planet Earth. Plenty of room for all of us, but we keep fighting over the same rocks over and over again. It's just human nature, no matter how big the space. :)
If 2 players start colonizing, will it be part of Powerplay2 and you have two factions in the system fighting ffor control that others can influence with a random/custom mission board?
But why put the distance in there... That wont move the bubble it will only make the bubble bigger.. I would love to able to build out here in the colonia area. Regarding the Cobra I was disapointed, I was hoppeing for something bigger. We allready have plenty of medium size ships, they will at somepoint be pointless
The cost in credits (and presumably raw resources) will be interesting. Make it too expensive or complicated and they risk putting off many solo and casual players, make it too cheap and player systems will expand across the galaxy probably quicker than they'd want.
No one I play with wanted base building. Everyone wanted things like zombies, on foot thargoids, ship interiors, or finally flight to water worlds. No one wanted base building, but I’ll take what they gave us. Will be a huge game loop that takes years.
I’m also concerned with this feature, all the bloat and clutter with fleet carriers littering popular systems is already a huge negative imo regarding persistent player created entities
This is the sort of gameplay that will keep me hooked for another decade.
Same
I need my own system taxes to offset my Carrier costs lol
lol I second that!

I just want to colonize the ringed earthlike world that I got first discovey on and first map on to be colonized. :D

Sigmar game did not work out the way they hoped.

walk around on ships. persistent assets on ships (like furniture, etc). That is the one thing that will make me come back.
When i heard about base building long time ago, i asked for station building. But it sounded too much like carriers. Now we get multi-station-building in a new system. 😊
This is so crazy that this pipedream is going to be realized! And I know Fdev will knock this out of the park.
I'm excited, I hope there is a way to build outside of the bubble. I'd love to see other colonies like Colonia spring up around the galaxy.

Just dropped a 200th like… Rounding up the numbers 😅 o7
Blaze your own path in this galaxy!
Yes
Love the idea of this gameplay

Thargoids ate my star base!?

Seguraaaaaaaaa!
Second comment today to mention that name. No idea. :)
Hoping they can implement FC hauling missions for this and actually use resources - even those building schematics...
Atmospheres and explorable (on foot) worlds with a vast variety of life.
That would be so great!
Add shattered planets with asteroids in the orbit that keep falling through atmosphere and impacting. That would create the danger as you land.
you guys dont know what you are asking for, thats a whole new other game in itself
@@Azurie-e9sfor real, I doubt the engine could handle that

Elite dangerous and the commanders are basically couple who are in a toxic relationship. We quit the game and comeback after a month. 😅😂
Exactly this lol, I'm just coming back after leaving with the whole Odyssey debacle.
Super cool
Sweet I can go Start a homestead. In the Scorpio Constellation?
I'm still hoping for ship interiors, atmospheric planets, and hoping they don't over promise & under deliver.
Yes, give us the tools and let us have at it ;)
Hi there bro! Nice one though!
We’ll see a ton of Cobras. It appeals to the Han Solo, one man and his ship, mindset.
Will this only be for those in a squadron or will it be for solo players as well?
The MK V cockpit makes it a better explorer than the Mandalay.
They Did it Exo they Did it :D :D
Can we form our own factions? Or only expand the current ones?
No idea yet.

Maybe you will be able to permit lock your system as that apparently has the magical ability to stop ships from jumping to it.
This has the potential to go really well. Or really bad. 🤞
Ship interiors would literally change this game for me. Until then, I'll be playing star citizen
And absolutely zero people care. A nice effort, though.
This new feature is so much better than something the engine can't even handle, that would only add RP opportunities.
If 2 players start colonizing, will it be part of Powerplay2 and you have two factions in the system fighting ffor control that others can influence with a random/custom mission board?
Elite is going Eve

Ah.. great, another Cobra!
But everyone can own this one!
So......how does this put more emphasis on exploration in the black?
this year only medium ships and next year ?
It is going to be a good option but it will take a lot of effort from the community. It is not something I think a single player can do.
Jesus. Just make FC be able to give missions. Improve our FC..., to be able to land maybe....or be able to really pilot them.
Rainbow engine colors? please
i wonder if this can only be done in "open play"
Nothing in this game will ever be OPEN only.
Are you crazy, NO!
no disrespect but you look and speak exactly like tom segura
No idea who that is, sorry. :)
Soooo... nothing for casuals. Ok, moving on...

I want ship interiors and on-foot VR. But I also wanna own star systems.
I want hookers and cocain WHERE IS MY HOOKER AND COCAIN
Base building was found in the files long time ago actually
I think its going to make the galaxy look too cluttered
lol
I loathe the base / system building concept, it’s boring and silly.
I’m also concerned with this feature, all the bloat and clutter with fleet carriers littering popular systems is already a huge negative imo regarding persistent player created entities
Think about this real hard, SPACE IS BIG AND SO IS ELITE.
