You learn something new every day. Never knew Hanimex were Australian - we got their stuff in the UK as well and I'd always assumed they were just some Hong Kong company. They were mainly known for cheap-and-cheerful cameras here.

Cameras and slide projectors seem to have been their main products back in the 70s and 80s, but there is a reasonable amount of their consumer electronics around in Australia, mainly small audio devices and the occasional TV game. I have a fluorescent clock radio here somewhere. Just remembered I have a 5" colour tv clock radio and its also got their brand on it, they were also sold under around 5 other brands.

@@StevesElectronicRepairShop Now you mention it I do remember the slide projectors often carrying the Hanimex brand name as well. They did have a reasonable reputation as I recall, very much budget but not nasty.
I think my confusion with Hong Kong came from the fact that their stuff always seemed to be in direct competition with the similar-sounding "Halina", which (I've just read) was indeed a HK company (Haking). Possible even that Hanimex's cameras were rebadged Halina as they did seem quite similar.
Did see the odd Hanimex video game but most of the Pong machines we got were branded Binatone, who were a very well-known UK manufacturer/distributor of budget electronics who were, for a while the biggest seller of phones and answering machines here.
