But Luna (a brown/ cream bottle brush tabby) got upset at being carried but still wanted to be on me, so she climbed up on my shoulders and rode like a parrot or scarf; she'd jump on my back while I was playing piano or and watch or the small of my back doing homework and climb to my shoulders when I got up. She wanted her human, but it HAD to be on her terms, and she was creative enough to figure it out XD I still have some of her claw slip scars on my back to prove it decades later.
My cat loves to sleep right next to me, and she tries to copy my position. She’ll have her face sticking out of the blanket and the rest of her covered up. She’s such a sweet girl.
Saliva feels dirty to them because it’s foreign substance on their fur, so they really clean themselves and let you do it because they love you enough to tolerate you getting them dirty all the time.

There was an eight-year-old neighborhood stray (actually abandoned!) cat who I adopted four years ago. He was a pretty ferocious kitty for about six months, but he has become a TOTAL gentle sweetheart over the years. I gently let him know I didn’t want him to attack me (by giving him short “time outs”) and he learned not to bite or scratch me. I am VERY proud of how he learned to be gentle with me. When I adopted him, I vowed I would NEVER abandon him no matter what he did, so, he was my kitty forever the day he came inside for his first meal. It was MY responsibility to be patient and loving no matter what, and it paid off! Now he is a TOTAL gentle sweetheart - and not just with me, but everyone (including dogs and other cats). So, one day a cat may decide you are his buddy and you will have a wonderful cat. Be sure to be patient though.
Unless I am not kneaded awake my cat so light I wake up and she just on me! Once woke up with her sleeping on her back and she was between my left arm and chest! Thankfully have only got 1 nose licking to be woken up!

When I was a 5, I got scared when my mom told me to start sleeping on my own because I use to sleep in my parents room at night. One night, I had a nightmare and cried but my parents were already sound asleep. That's when my cat jumped on my bed next to me, purring soundly while lying down. He helped me calm down and went back to sleep with me waking up beside my little furball. Since then, I'm still sleeping with my cat

I feel bad when the cats think I’m going to bed and then I don’t. They race in the bedroom and jump on the bed. I feel terrible explaining that it’s no quite bed time.
Since I retired, I have a crazy sleep pattern...to bed between 3 and 4 and up around 10. He's adjusted, but sometimes our schedule gets messed up, where he's been sleeping for many hours and I'm ready to finally go to bed, then he'll want out and unless it's raining or freezing, he'll spend the night hunting and sleeping on the swing on the deck. He is a proficient hunter and I don't know how he hasn't wiped out the mole population around here, and, most of the time he eats his prey! Ugh!

Going to school and then working, I had no choice in the matter, so I guess now, my natural circadian rhythm is finally getting to do it's thing. It used to puzzle my husband how I would start cleaning and get more active in the evenings, when he was winding down! I kind of wish it was more 'normal' because mornings are so nice!
Here’s a thought: one of the reasons cats might like sleeping with us is that they are trying to make US happy. My kitty will often hop on my bed and cuddle up after he’s warmed up by the fireplace for a while. Why leave a nice warm fireplace for my bed? Maybe to make me happy by keeping me company?
@MaXaM whenever I get pissed at a game and yell my cat will always run to my desk and meow at me to calm me down and pretty much make me stop playing to pet him.I definitely believe that there are cats who want to make there owners happy.
@MaXaM - I had the exact same experience when I was a kid! I was crying and my cat came in looking worried. He hopped right up to me and rubbed his face against me to comfort me! This was almost fifty years ago, so I forget if my cat meowed (he probably did), but it was TOTALLY obvious that he was worried about me and he did his best to comfort me - and he did! Like you, I didn’t think cats could tell that a person was upset - but HE did! It was amazing! Not only did he KNOW I was upset, but he did his absolute best to try to make me feel better. I DID feel better knowing that my beloved kitty was worried about me and he did a great job of helping me recover from my sadness. Thank you for sharing your story!

My oldest cat sleeps on my mother's head actually a lot. He is getting close to 13 years now and he does not run as much as he use too, so he has gotten fat.

When I was like 7-9 years old, on my old porch I would fall asleep on the swinging chair we had, my cat Smokey would always come and sleep next to me. When I woke up he would still be asleep a lot of the time so I would just pet him and then he'd purr :). He was the best cat ever hands down. He could hunt really well, I know from experience because he brought dead things back because he loved us so much I guess but he was so sweet as well. He was my bud. I miss him.
I heard that cats bring dead animals to feed their humans, who they think are bad at hunting for themselves. And i think that is true because i had a "mouse in house-scenario" where both my cats couldnt do much else than wait for it to drop cover so i took matters into my own hands and catched it myself while my cats where watching me. Since then they dont bring pray anymore unless they want to eat it themselves. They seem to have realized that i dont need them to feed me. XD

Now a days responsible cat owners do their best to keep their cats from their natural instinct of "hunting" and killing endangered bird life. My cat always brings me her stuffed animals and sometimes live mice.

Makes me cry. I miss my little boy. He died at 13 years of age earlier this year. He was the most affectionate cat in the home. Loved to cuddle and touch me. My cat Cookie passed away recently, and while she was sick she got into the habit of curling right up against my chest almost every time she slept in my room. She liked to come in and sleep next to us anyway, but she only leaned against us like that if she really wasn't feeling well. I'm honoured to know how safe I made her feel, so I'll cherish those memories of her
Condolences for your loss. I understand what you're talking about. I lost one of my cats to a brain tumor about a month ago. He went from being active and energetic to needing to lean against me just so he could stay upright to eat. Watching his decline was heartbreaking, but I'm glad that he let me help him as his balance deteriorated.

My cat and me had a bedtime routine. When I brushed my teeth he would go crawl under the covers and get ready for me to join him. I'd sleep on my side and he'd reposition on top of my arm and we'd stay like that all night. He had a rough background and FIV and was passed over and abandoned multiple times. The idea I made him feel safe really hits me. Never thought of it like that. Thank you.
I have rescued a big ginger Tom with FIV... He sleeps next to me every night and pucker the blanket before settling down. He snores and his nose seems slightly blocked but he is otherwise well! A bit fat. I call him Pumpkin! I'm sorry for your loss. Xx

humans eyes go left to right under our sleeping eyelids while in rem sleep. cats find it fascinating. and will sit on or by your face to watch. that's why sometimes they accidentally suffocate infants.

Another reason for cats to cuddle with their human, is that they usually like your scent and cuddling with a cat leaves your scent in it's fur, and if your cat starts cleaning itself right after cuddling, doesn't mean that it dislikes your scent, they usually do that because they seem to enjoy "tasting" their human.

My oldest cat sleeps on my mother's head actually a lot. He is getting close to 13 years now and he does not run as much as he use too, so he has gotten fat.

October 2021 - that last shot with Cole cuddling with Chris is so bittersweet. I'm sure it's one of the many wonderful memories you'll always have of your little house panther.
It's been over 3 years since my cat died, but memories of him sleeping next to me still make me feel happy to this day

When I was like 7-9 years old, on my old porch I would fall asleep on the swinging chair we had, my cat Smokey would always come and sleep next to me. When I woke up he would still be asleep a lot of the time so I would just pet him and then he'd purr :). He was the best cat ever hands down. He could hunt really well, I know from experience because he brought dead things back because he loved us so much I guess but he was so sweet as well. He was my bud. I miss him.
I heard that cats bring dead animals to feed their humans, who they think are bad at hunting for themselves. And i think that is true because i had a "mouse in house-scenario" where both my cats couldnt do much else than wait for it to drop cover so i took matters into my own hands and catched it myself while my cats where watching me. Since then they dont bring pray anymore unless they want to eat it themselves. They seem to have realized that i dont need them to feed me. XD

Now a days responsible cat owners do their best to keep their cats from their natural instinct of "hunting" and killing endangered bird life. My cat always brings me her stuffed animals and sometimes live mice.

My cat Cookie passed away recently, and while she was sick she got into the habit of curling right up against my chest almost every time she slept in my room. She liked to come in and sleep next to us anyway, but she only leaned against us like that if she really wasn't feeling well. I'm honoured to know how safe I made her feel, so I'll cherish those memories of her

Condolences for your loss. I understand what you're talking about. I lost one of my cats to a brain tumor about a month ago. He went from being active and energetic to needing to lean against me just so he could stay upright to eat. Watching his decline was heartbreaking, but I'm glad that he let me help him as his balance deteriorated.

My cat and me had a bedtime routine. When I brushed my teeth he would go crawl under the covers and get ready for me to join him. I'd sleep on my side and he'd reposition on top of my arm and we'd stay like that all night. He had a rough background and FIV and was passed over and abandoned multiple times. The idea I made him feel safe really hits me. Never thought of it like that. Thank you.
I have rescued a big ginger Tom with FIV... He sleeps next to me every night and pucker the blanket before settling down. He snores and his nose seems slightly blocked but he is otherwise well! A bit fat. I call him Pumpkin! I'm sorry for your loss. Xx

Before they left us our two cats always slept between my legs, on top of the covers. I could never roll over, I was pinned. After they were gone, it took me months to realize I could then roll over. I miss them both so very very much and I always will.

Another reason for cats to cuddle with their human, is that they usually like your scent and cuddling with a cat leaves your scent in it's fur, and if your cat starts cleaning itself right after cuddling, doesn't mean that it dislikes your scent, they usually do that because they seem to enjoy "tasting" their human.
