simpsons theory: blue haired lawyer is a clone created every time mr. burns needs a lawyer, which is why he never has a name, and after burns is done with him and forgets to dispose of him, he goes on to lawyer for other people which is why he works for any client at different times
The "Burns' Lawyer" name reminds me of how the writers refer to Snake as "Jailbird", despite everyone within the show calling the character "Snake". It used to be the same thing with the "Treehouse of Horror" specials. They used to be called "Simspons Halloween Special"s for years, then for some reason they started using the behind-the-scenes "Treehouse of Horror" title, despite the whole treehouse framing device no longer being present.
YESSS! I love these deep dive video essays into tertiary or almost side-recurring characters! You'll never find BHL on any toy box or Simpsons lego set, but its fun seeing him in the spotlight.
The bathroom, to a lot of people, is a very safe space because of the privacy. There's a lot of tropes of people running to bathrooms to get away from uncomfortable situations. It can be quiet in them as well, and there's a lot of people who feel they do their best thinking while on the toilet. That or maybe there's just something weird going on with him, it's hard to tell with The Simpsons sometimes.
I'd totally be interested in a Histories video about Ruth Powers. I feel like she's a bit of a mysterious character, for as much as they put her in background roles throughout the series and as a resident of Evergreen Terrace that we don't get to see too often.
I loved how in the early seasons he's a foil to Lionel Hutz. He's just great when he's going up against him. I do feel he was used more in later years after Phil Hartman passed. It's nice he got more roles, but it's a bit sad that it came as a result of his death.😊
Would it count as a "screw the audience" joke if we follow the Blue Haired Lawyer for part of an episode, expecting some weird turn or joke, but he's generally just together and normal with no big surprises or insights? I don't really have a singular favourite moment with this guy, outside of his physical alteration with Skinner. Blue Haired Lawyer has always just been to me as potatoes are to Marge. I just think he's neat. Wait- that time he prosecuted Troy McClure over the indecent incident at the Aquarium. Troyal of the Century is fantastic.
If Ralph is on the verge of getting a history then maybe there I'll continue my pick of Allison. But on there it might have a better impact. Come on children characters.
Allison's only really had one major role due to being voiced by a guest star (Lisa's Rival), so idk what there's to talk about since she's mostly a background. character afterwards. She does have a single line in Lard of the Dance and Skinner's Sense of Snow, ig she appears quite a bit in the former episode, but unfortunately a bit it with her. I do think it'd be fun seeing Jims talk about these little background appearances though, something cool about Allison in modern Simpsons is that she's often seen with her dad
5:27 I have a possible explanation why the Blue Haired Lawyer is the second person to say goodbye to the Simpsons. In the previous scene, when Homer is trying to convince them to move to Cypress Creek, Marge argues that Bart’s lawyer lives in Springfield. Perhaps the BHL was Bart’s lawyer, and he was just there to say goodbye to his long time client?
You should make a video similar to "Ralph the Viking" but with Hank Scorpio asking Homer if he's ever seen someone throw a shoe and Homer replying "Yes, once."
Blue Haired Lawyer had a Miles Edgeworth-like rivalry with Lionel Hutz, so much so that when Hutz died (the Phoenix Wright of the Simpsons universe), he took on the cases Hutz took. And much like when Edgeworth switched sides, he started winning more, but not always... Anyway, that makes the most sense to me.
Honestly, I've been waiting for this ever since you mentioned it like years ago in an episode, that you could probably make a good one... He's just such a weird D-List character but every scene he's in he ABSOLUTELY nails. Probably my favorite NPC in the simpsons if I'm being honest. Could you imagine if the show was JUST about him? How intense it would be? That guy lives live on Hardcore mode for sure.
Ralph is a good character for a history, If not then let's try a different school character, Janey & Uter have had a history so maybe Martin, Allison, Sherri & Terri or even Milhouse. They all sound good if Ralph doesn't get in.
I'd really like Martin! I do think a lot of my friends on the No Homers Club forum would like a Sherri & Terri video because they're surprisingly popular there. A lot of people on that forum wish the show used them and characterized them more
He's no Lionel huts but he's nevertheless pretty entertaining. I also liked him in The Simpsons guy that Family Guy and the Simpsons crossover episode. I found a way to fit him in there with that lawsuit against Pawtucket Patriot ale
I appreciate that I can watch so many episodes in a row and never consciously realize this is a recurring character. Even if it's subconscious, the internal continuity makes the show feel cozy, there I said it. I also love the tidbit that the writers call him something different. I think Blue Haired Lawyer is better because he has his own identity, but in scenes where he isn't Burns' lawyer, it's kind of fun that his name in the script is still "Burns' lawyer." Like even when Mr. Burns isn't around, the reach of his corporate evil is still at work in Springfield....
Wonderful video man! Always a treat on a Saturday afternoon. One small thing I noticed about the Lawyer is that he is one of the few Jewish characters on the show. In a Christmas themed opening (don't recall the season, but I assume mid-20s) he can be seen eating Chinese food in a kippa alongside Dolph (the bully). I assume this is a play on the stereotype that Jews make good lawyers
Pretty sure they only have the toilet there in case Blue-Haired Lawyer vomits or wants to spit out the rotisserie chicken. Doesn't seem all that strange to me.
I usually comment on every one of these to do an episode about Lenny and Carl. But honestly, I think this time I want Disco Stu. You broke me, TheRealJims.
Lunchlady Doris/Dora is an interesting one because of the change of name, but I love Disco Stu. The fact that he originates from a one-off gag, and then became a whole character, is amazing.
I'm just glad to see that the Human Flu turned his life around and got his law degree after trying to pull a stunt on the same day The Be Sharps played Moe's Tavern
It would be rather challenging for them to bring back Miguel Sanchez into the show as a character, which kind of leaves the blue haired lawyer as the only real permanent lawyer character.
Just a blind shot in the dark but maybe the toilet is an 'alcoholic lawyer' style joke? When you drink hard to run away from your problems to the point where you vomit on the regular there is something comforting about the toilet. When you're puking up alcohol into a toilet that is the only problem you're currently presented with instead of whatever you're drinking to escape. The toilet isn't an enemy in that moment, either, it is supportive and helpful. Maybe Blue-Haired Lawyer has spent many a night after losing to Lionel Hutz embracing the porcelain throne.
I was very excited to see this video and it didn’t disappoint! This guy is certainly one of my favorite antagonists on the Simpsons. He makes all the court case scenes quite memorable. Truly I really enjoyed the dynamic between him and Lionel Hutz and I feel that it’s a shame that we’ll never get to see that again because of Phil Hartman’s passing but blue haired lawyer lives on and that makes me happy. I like to imagine that if Lionel Hutz is truly gone in Springfield then Blue haired Lawyer as his former nemesis occasionally leaves flowers by his grave. I’m still very eager to see a Jasper video really soon! Also I truly love the stories with blue haired lawyer and Bart Simpson. They make a fun foil for each other which I shouldn’t be surprised by since he’s also voiced by the same person who does Homer as Bart’s dad. Also to put in another suggestion for character histories are we still going to get a Sanjay video? I know that he was first introduced as a side character to support Apu and Apu’s still in a tricky position right now but I feel that Sanjay still deserves his moment to shine! Besides I strongly remember seeing him on one of your suggestions list recently! Please give Sanjay a chance if for no other reason than to give the remaining Apu and Sanjay fans one more special treat amiss the chaos caused by the controversy.

The secret to saying "dinner dog" like him is adding a slight s-sound while pronouncing the d-sounds: "Dsinner Dsawg"
Blue Haired Lawyer is the Deux Ex Machina that only works 30% of the time.
super accurate description
I love the obscurity of the characters you use, brilliant.
Yeah, the students of Springfield Elementary School are basically a goldmine of underused characters.

Would love to keep the "no-name characters" train going with Squeaky Voiced Teen someday soon!
I'd love to see Disco Stu next...I love that he appeared to be the payoff for a super random silly gag and just never left.
I think for the Blue Haired Lawyer character to work effectively, you really needed Lionel Hutz as his rival.
This channel is so cool, the peak Simpsons channel.
All the characters in The Simpsons are NPCs since the show is a not game...
How did I somehow miss this!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Was just thinking about how a Simpsons History vid would hit the right spot on a lazy saturday, eating bacon & eggs
Blue Hair Lawyer: "Excellent job on the video, loved it! Here's a cede and desist order from the Walt Disney Corporation."
A lot of people on that forum wish the show used them and characterized them more
What makes the blue haired lawyer so intriguing is he’s one of the very few competent people in Springfield
The blue hair rizzler
He's no Lionel huts but he's nevertheless pretty entertaining. I also liked him in The Simpsons guy that Family Guy and the Simpsons crossover episode. I found a way to fit him in there with that lawsuit against Pawtucket Patriot ale
Let's get Allison involved in this mix.
I hate that I laughed at the “blue haired rizzler” joke
Wonderful video man! Always a treat on a Saturday afternoon.
One small thing I noticed about the Lawyer is that he is one of the few Jewish characters on the show. In a Christmas themed opening (don't recall the season, but I assume mid-20s) he can be seen eating Chinese food in a kippa alongside Dolph (the bully). I assume this is a play on the stereotype that Jews make good lawyers
3:47 Please don't do that ever again
Krusty, have you ever seen this so-called amination genius before?
Pretty sure they only have the toilet there in case Blue-Haired Lawyer vomits or wants to spit out the rotisserie chicken. Doesn't seem all that strange to me.
Exactly!
Histories/mysteries are the best things on this channel
that was a good one feel better soon
I usually comment on every one of these to do an episode about Lenny and Carl. But honestly, I think this time I want Disco Stu. You broke me, TheRealJims.
Is he related to millhouse
Was waiting a while for this one, but not as long as I have been for Raphael's history
Ralph or Allison, Those are my picks.
Lunchlady Doris/Dora is an interesting one because of the change of name, but I love Disco Stu. The fact that he originates from a one-off gag, and then became a whole character, is amazing.
14:55 my best guess is that he associates rotisserie chicken with bacteria, so it's a two in one
I'm just glad to see that the Human Flu turned his life around and got his law degree after trying to pull a stunt on the same day The Be Sharps played Moe's Tavern
ive been waiting for this guy, hell yea!
honestly next id recommend willie, he's a very major character in comparison to the last 2 you've covered
yoooo finally the one we've all been waiting for
It would be rather challenging for them to bring back Miguel Sanchez into the show as a character, which kind of leaves the blue haired lawyer as the only real permanent lawyer character.
When I think Blue-Haired Lawyer, I think "Dinnah Dawg".
BHL also represented the whole of Springfield (mostly Duff) in their suit against Pawtucket Pat in the Family Guy crossover "The Simpsons Guy".
5:04 I assume dinner dog is a reference to dippy dog the original name of goofy.
There was a lawyer on an episode of (I think) Perry Mason (original series) that may have inspired the Blue-Haired Lawyer character.
Finally. The one we've all been waiting for.
