Interesting. I enjoyed watching and of course, listening. Good job Mr. Folotiya. Serpents aka njoka are probably my biggest fears of the "bush". The Kenneth Maduma impression was funny though!.
At 5:10, why was the grass pulled out? This is clover, a valuable food plant for animals. It will not make a big competition, and having a plant that has never grown in you is very good.

Thank you for the video. An eye opener. With the eucalyptus trees, is 2m spacing the best?.... And roughly how many trees are you able to plant per acre are you able to plant?
You're welcome. Our tree spacing has shifted over the years from 2m back when this video was produced, to 2.5m in recent times. We did this to allow space for tractors to pass in between for line weeding. There are some tools on the internet that you can use to calculate population per hectare.
Very informative videos. 4 questions 1. Which is less costly to do my own nursery or to buy seedlings? 2. Do we have a market for the Pine and eucalyptus trees 3. Which tree has more money the pine or the eucalyptus 4. I would like to plant the eucalyptus tree but am told it affects the under ground water?
It always depends on your size and scale. We only started doing our own seedlings once we were a but more established. Most people start out by buying in.
Thank for this information. very insightful. I have a lot of questions, after the rains, how much water is required? have u set up a borehole? how much care do pine trees need?.
Thanks for your questions. Commercial timber trees including pine and eucalyptus trees at this scale are not normally irrigated. I had the same questions when I first started out, but was told by the experts that these are natural trees that survive in nature for years and years. They are used to it. Different from fruit trees that require more water for the fruiting processes.
But, yes, we did choose to irrigate the young seedlings after transplants this year as we had a terrible dry spell. But then it started raining again, and the transplants established.
This is interesting, just wondering about the uptake of water by the eucalyptus tree. its quite worrying and alarming. Would you shade more light on how you are addressing that?
Hi. Great question We talked about more about how and why we grow pine, eucalyptus and casuarina in this video earlier this year. ruclips.net/video/JoVAWOdSRcg/видео.html
We had the same supplier from 2020. But for 2022, we set up our own nursery and successfully produced our own seedlings. Some have even been sold to others farmers.
We use Google Maps and, in particular, My Maps. It has taken a couple of years to learn how to use it well and become confortable. Be patient with yourself
Good question. Sadly, the guy who supplied us is rather informal and such details are not one of his strong points. He would just say "they are bluegums". It was one of the reasons that past year, we grew our own eucalyptus seedlings from a different source. The 2022 ones are Eucalyptus Grandis. We are currently working on a couple of videos about the 2022 tree crop, which will be ready by the end of this week.
Hi Monday farms, thanks for the informative video. Can you please help us with contact info of where you bought the seedlings 🌱? I will appreciate it so much. Thanks
Please get in touch if you would like to purchase some pine and eucalyptus tree seedlings. We have already started production for 2022. Delivery within the Lusaka area.

Great initiative with the TLB, a bulldozer is best for that kind of work. I do my clearing manually, it takes a couple of months though.
All the best.

Hi Ba Sara. Yes, people say that and it is a widely held belief.
But our research tells us that the issue is not as bad as people might think.

Fortunately, the trees are rain-fed. They get enough water during the rain season to see them through the rest of the year.
