I feel the need to sit with this interesting man and tap knowledge to do with farming coz I look forward to becoming a commercial farmer. I really need his contacts badly
The government would have been hiring such knowledgeable people to run agricultural projects, agriculture being the backbone of Africa. Because they have knowledge, passion and experience that the agric sector as a whole needs
I have had the opportunity to be in your country & I appreciate how hot and rain scanty your country is.If for a start, all the hills are trees covered. Believe you me alot would follow
I have learned that Eucalyptus trees release an essence that kills any other plant around it. That's why we see the floor is in a state of quasi desert. This prevents mixted farming . Can you please confirm? Greetings from DR Congo!
Monoculture is not good for the environment. Furthermore, the eucalyptus is an exotic species and is alleged to be a tree that sucks more water and depletes the groundwater level. Why not plant in an intercropping style with teak, eucalyptus, ebony, rosewood, pink ivory and and tigerwood mixed in a plantion with some fruit trees in between?
Monoculture of any type is not good in the long term . The soil will not be improved enough You should have a mix of many trees for sustainability ---a forest with lots of variety a food forest as in permaculture Eucalyptus takes too much from the soil they have very deep roots and are very susceptible to forest fires as in australia in the past few years ...
I started with 50/100 piece of land after 4 years I sold all the trees and bought 2 acres of land in of the cheapest place in the village, but I had to send an agricultural officer to take the soil to the lab and see if it's good for eucalyptus trees before buying it
@@Jojo.and.Eleanor832 I planted 200 trees, remember that time I had no idea was just planting not knowing what to do with it. But when they grew up and sold most of them for timbers that's when I realized I need more and didn't know a bout spacing neither.
As good or as profitable as it may seem, monoculture tree farming is an ecological disaster. Notice that your forests are almost devoid of other flora and fauna. And in case of a long dry spell, an accidental fire and your whole Forest burns like the much dreaded Australian fires. You can redeem this by creating an indigenous forest gap of an acre for every four of your gum tree. That way ,you create fire breaks and in the process contribute to a better water table , more ecological, more survivable and a more biodiverse environment that is the much needed by our depleted planet. You will still posses 25 acres of commercial tree plantation.
